I'll probably go with France. Maybe France to win and Griezmann or Giroud to get the golden boot. I'd like to see a smaller country win it, though. What are everybody's predictions for a wild card to go far? Iceland did pretty well in the Euros but doubt they'll fair as well on the World stage. Maybe Poland or Switzerland to surprise? They're both in the top ten fifa rankings which I was surprised about.
I think Nigeria or Denmark will be the big surprises. Nigeria is one of the best africans team (behind Senegal) in this WC. They play a very aggressive 4-3-3 formation, good midfield with Onazi and Ndidi, and great attack with Ihenacho, Moses, and Iwobi.

Denmark, underrated team with a really strong squad...Schmeichel, Eriksen, Sisto, Wass, Christensen, Krohn-Dehli, Delaney, Viktor Fischer. I can definitely see them at least in the QF.

I think Germany is the heavy favourite. But who knows maybe spain can surprise everyone.

If you talk about the top 2 teams who have the greatest chance to lift this edition of the world cup, then it is going to be Germany and Brazil. And in my opinion Germany is having the advantage because their record in Russia is quite good.
If we see the final of last FIFA, we can easily predict that the Germany would be lifting this world cup edition this also but in my opinion, making any type of predictions in this cup would be an insane thing because this cup is going to be mysterious and we can easily see this thing because countries like Netherland were not able to qualify for this cup which means it’s not like that easy.
Germany is indeed a favorite choice for many people, in addition that brazil and spain are also superior. I am very difficult to predict who the candidate champion in FIFA world cup title In Russia this year. Because each mat is always showing a lot of surprises, even team that could not get seeded can achieve a pretty good result. Yes we just have to wait kick off the game in russia in a few weeks. It will be a history and will there be any unexpected champions? let's take a look at it and let's see some exciting matches that will be played and broadcast live all over the world. This is really a fun year for football lovers around the world.

The Brazilian players called for this World Cup are top performers on their respective clubs and I believe that other than the Germans, they are the second favorites to win the World Cup

So you are saying that Germany is the favorite to win this world cup and Brazil is behind them in the probability. I would agree with you, although the betting sites may differ. Because historically, we have over-rated teams such as Brazil.

Brazil and Germany are probably many's top two teams to win and they could even meet in the final if they both come top of their group (which is very likely), and would be a great rematch for what happened last tournament when Brazil got a spanking. I think they should both get to the semis fairly easily and they could have a fairly easy run up until that point, but that's when they could come across teams like France and Spain. I usually put a lot of bets on before the start of thew World Cup just to make it more fun and I'll probably go with France, Brazil, Germany, Spain to get to the semis. Not sure I'd bet on the winner because there's not much value in any of those sorts of teams. I'd be tempted to back Belgium again as a dark horse but if they finish first in their group they'll likely have Brazil in the quarters. If they finish second they'll likely have Germany instead (assuming they get that far and the other groups work out as suspected).

Oh, and as tokeweed said above, check out the World Cup pool I'm running. £25 in and adds to the enjoyment: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalks-fifa-world-cup-pool-discussion-thread-4130568

I had high hopes from Salah and Neymar but both will come injured in the World Cup I wonder if both teams will have a major impact on the teams,
Neymar can be replaced in the Brazil squad with a top player like willian or douglas costa, so it's not like Brazil is out of options...but everyone keeps saying that Neymar will play in the WC, expect in the first match. Now Salah, the Egyptian FA has been very cautious about the whole thing, they say Salah has a chance of making it to the WC, but we're just a 3 weeks away from the Opening Day, I doubt he'll be at 100%.

In terms of impact on the teams if none of them makes it to the WC: Brazil without Ney is still a competitive team. Egypt without Salah is a average team with no chance of even winning a game in the group stages.
for forward players i have to says Salah pretty much better rather than other Egyptian players so it's normal if Egypt worried about his current conditions and i think Egypt people will expect Salah can recover and play in world cup and regarding Egypt chance in this tournament although Salah can play i think their achievement only on group stages because difficult to beat strong opponent such as Russia and Uruguay on group A

It’s not like Egypt are the favorites to win the World Cup or anything like that so even with Salah injured, nothing is going to change their outcome in the World Cup which is elimination in the group stages of the competition.

Maybe with or without Salah Egypt will not get maximum results in this World Cup. But, in the absence of Salah, we as football lovers would miss the opportunity to witness the performance of a player who are so popular at this time. And that is a bitter reality.

Neymar can’t be effectively replaced at the Brazilian national team. Though they can make other people play in the same position, they can’t play the same way that Neymar does. No single player can be replaced adequately.

For me it's always Spain and I hope they win it, Germany is my second favourite to win the cup and thirdly it has to be Brazil can't wait for it to start.

Lots of people are undoubtedly going to make a lot of money out of this World Cup but what scares me the most is that, Bribery from betting companies may influence the games a lot in the tournament this year.

There has never been an incidence of match fixing in the FIFA world cup. No one is going to put money over his home nation's victory (at least no one with proper mental balance). But then, illegal betting can be an issue.
There are certain things which happen but never reported as things happen under the table and that you never know what is going on. However, it is really a good thing that no such thing has happened so far and that people really enjoy the game as it is being played fair without any kind of betting. This year, FIFA will be interesting as all the teams are well prepared and will try their best to grab the trophy.
As people in Europe take football very seriously as well as they are very sincere with their countries because this trophy is more than a trophy for them, so I personally think that there are never things like that happening under the table. If we take this logically, then a coach or a player would do match fixing just for the sake of money but they are already having a lot of wealth that they don’t need that any more so the worth of trophy is more to them.

No doubt that Germany has a strong team as they are the cup holder of FIFA for four times but still we cannot ignore Brazil just by seeing the results of Last final. I know Brazil lost against Germany for 7-1 but I think you people are forgetting this that the play maker of Brazil; Neymar Jr was inured badly and wasn’t playing but this time he is also present in the team, so it will not be that easy for Germany.

I want to make one bet before World Cup starts and it will just be a quick guess to put some money down that I can forget about and maybe win at the end of the tournament. Brazil is always favorites no matter what. Germany are not the same team they used to be, and we have guys like Ozil (of Turkish descent) who will now not even get all of the German support due to his Erdogan appearance.

Brazil to reach final at 5/2 and 12/5 is most of the odds offered so that is my bet.

Neymar not playing wouldn't have made a lot of difference at all but with this year, The Brazilian squad is way better than the last year's competition. Most of the players are the best in their respective clubs. Such a shame that Alves is missing it though.

@yoseph, @tomahawk9, I heard that the only reason Martinez doesn't like Nainggollan is that Radja smokes. If it's truth, I think the decision to not select him is twice stupider as it could be in compare with the cases like Deschamps vs Benzema or Sampaoli vs Icardi.

Jep, Martinez is not really found of Radja, which is why he didn't select them. Stupid choice as Naingolan can really make the difference.
What I also don't understand why they prolonged the contract of Martinez, he is not really the best coach for Belgium.

Just read the news a few hours back and I was shocked, to be honest. I never expected the Belgians to let off Radja Nainggolan from their squad. IMO, he is a better player when compared to others such as Axel Witsel and Marouane Fellaini.
I have seen many teams making such dull decisions like putting some of the best players who can become a play maker in every critical match on bench or some of the players are unlucky enough this time that they don’t have have a chance to play even for their national teams. I think this FIFA would not be the FIFA that was being expected when the world cup ended in 2014.
