England have made official the list of 23 players:

Gk: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Jack Butland (Stoke), Nick Pope (Burnley)

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Kieran Trippier (Spurs), Danny Rose (Spurs), Harry Maguire (Leicester), Phil Jones (Man Utd), John Stones, Kyle Walker (both Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea)

Midfielders: Jordan Henderson, (Liverpool), Eric Dier (Spurs), Dele Alli (Spurs), Jesse Lingard (Man Utd), Ashley Young (Man Utd), Fabian Delph (Man City), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea),

Forwards: Raheem Sterling (Man City), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Harry Kane (Spurs), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal).

What do you guys think? I think the midfield is not that impressive, really shows much they lack top players in that position (and also in the defense). I'm surprised John Stones is on the list, he didn't play that much in Man City this season, did he? and Smalling deserved to be there, he's been way more consistent that Cahill and Stones throughout the whole season. Overall, I'd be very surprised if they make it past the Round of 16.

To my mind, the strangest thing is 3 LBs and 3 RBs: Walker, Trippier, Arnold, Rose, Yound and Delph. I'm afraid it's too many slots for these positions and picking players like Albrighton or Shelvey would be better due to opening much more options in the midfield. Remember recent astonishment after seeing that Alex Sandro wasn't included into Brazilian squad? I don't want to compare if he is worse or better than Filipe Luis, but I think this is a nice example, which shows Tite has much more rational approach to forming the list than Southgate
Ashley Young is no natural Left Back though he has been playing at that position for some time now at Manchester United. The English squad is full of potentials and would be perfect for the next World Cup in 2022 where they would have gotten a lot of experience.

currently many teams are relying on young players in the squad, given their good performance in their respective clubs. but keep in mind, senior players are very important to mentally play in the highest event that is the world cup. we can see the gait of french and english that failed in euro 2016, even though their squad is very good. I think they should improve mentally. brazil has a complete squad this year, between senior players and junior, german, spanish also have the same chance. but I am more predicting Portugal will win the 2018 world cup.

Any predictions about FIFA World Cup 2018?

Who might get the 2018’s World Cup?

Can anyone successfully predict it?

I can not predict who will be the winner of the 2018 World Cup later, as there are some countries that many very good players do not qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup ... but for now I think Brazil will play well and for now I am siding for Brazil .. and I hope Brazil becomes the 2018 FIFA World Cup champion..

Truly, it is very difficult to predict which country will be the winner of FIFA world cup 2018 because all the teams have performed very well in their qualifying matches so nothing to say on this topic. Also, this FIFA is a little bit different from the FIFAs that are held before because three bigger countries this time hasn’t qualified themselves for the world cup while the small teams easily qualified.

People forget about Belgium because they aren't among the favorites to win a world cup and never will. Sure, today they have what's probably their best and most talented squad in a very long time with lots of great individual players, but that doesn't make them a clear favorite. On paper, they should reach at least the semi finals or at least third place, in reality, they probably won't make it past the quarter finals. There are no surprises in the world cup, the top teams always win the trophy.

Belgium is a good team. Their team bonding is good, but they don't have the depth and star-power which enables a team to progress beyond the semi-final stage. For sure they have some talented players, but none of them would feature in my World XI team.

It's really hard to predict this world cup since many great teams are participating like before.I will take Brazil, Germany, Spain,France ahead in my selection. Some world class players are in these teams.I think these team have the most chance to win the world cup.

Germany and Brazil are indeed top candidates to win the title, but many are forgetting Belgium! If everyhting goes well, they can have a chance to win the title as the team is filled with top players in every department

Hahah nobody can predict it bro. Everything is possible.
Although I have a hard feeling France will do something here. Or maybe Brazil.
As usual, I don't believe in Argentina.

Lol fifa didn't even start and a referee already got a lifetime ban , he was a ref for a match in saudi arabia and al faisal club offered the ref bribe to influence the outcome of the ban. It's surely a pretty dumb move by ref as he could have easily earned money as a ref for fifa

Are the other leagues such as the EPL and La Liga allowing their players who will be participating the world cup for their countries time off now since most of those leagues are concluded as I just watched Bayern Munich clinch their leagues title today with raising the trophy for Bundesliga. Cool

A lot of players (especially from the poorer nations) are going to put their club above the national team and may skip the national squad training sessions. You can't really blame them. Money matters a lot, for everyone.
Football is no doubt one of the most favorite game and is being watched and played the most in the entire world especially when you talk about Europe. In my opinion, it all depends on the player whether he is running after money or he is looking to save the reputation of his own country. Money does matter a lot but when it comes to that of nation, you need to think even beyond that.

I think for professional players, they will not rest before the competition finish, especially for the liverpool and realmadrid players. they should be more focused in the face of the final fight. of course for the players who entered the ranks of the national team players. this is a busy schedule
This is what kind of dillemia Real Madrid and Zindane is facing right now.
He has alot of players on his squad that will want to play for their country.
Such as Bale for England and Ronaldo for Portugual.

Indeed, professional players who play in big teams have very busy schedules and can cause them to be late to the training center. But as a professional soccer player I am sure they can adjust quickly. Btw, Gareth Bale is not an English player, he is from Wales and unfortunately he will not be available in Russia since Wales did not qualify for this world cup event.
it is obvious that you are not a soccer fan. since when did Gareth Bale move to English? but that's not a big deal, it's a lesson for you to be more listening to the news about soccer,
back to the topic, they do have a good adaptation capacity, but in addition of course less fit conditions could have happened because of the fatigue factor they experienced. and for madrid brand must play the total in the final fight against liverpool. because there is zidane's fate at stake as coach

Berlin protested on Monday against Moscow's decision to ban from the World Cup the German journalist who broke the story on Russia's state-sponsored doping scandal.

I'd rather talk about football.

So, Brazil made official the list of 23 players for the world cup:

GK
Cássio (Corinthians), Alisson (Roma), Ederson (Man City)

Defenders
Danilo (Man City), Geromel (Grêmio), Filipe Luís (Atletico Madrid), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Marquinhos (PSG), Miranda (Internazionale), Fágner (Corinthians), Thiago Silva (PSG)

Midfielders
Casemiro (Real Madrid), Fernandinho (Man City), Fred (Shakthar), Paulinho (Barcelona), Coutinho (Barcelona), Renato Augusto (Beijing), Willian (Chelsea)

Forward
Douglas Costa (Juventus), Firmino (Liverpool), Gabriel Jesus (Man City), Neymar (PSG), Taison (Shakthar)

No Dani Alves, obviously, but I'm surprised they didn't go for Alex Sandro (Juventus) or Arthur (Grêmio). But, Renato Augusto? a guy who plays in a low-tier club in China? Fagner? Rafinha is 100x better than him. Taison? ...who? Overall, I still think this a strong squad, they have top class players in the starting XI, definitely among my favorites to win the World Cup.

Looks like the Russian is taking it too personal. As the German journalist who spill the beans about the Russia's plan on using ban substance that why they are banned from winter's Pyeongchang Olympic games. I think it will really put a lot of dent on the relationships between Russia and Germany. But it's clearly that the Russia government doesn't want to enter the country and cover it. Being host of the event, Russia should not ban anyone, in my opinion.
That would be very bad for the Russians if they should go ahead and and implement this ban. It’s not like the journalist fabricated the story but was actually revealing the truth about the Russians government actually helping its athletes to dope intentionally.

I think Russia might be able to perform much better in this year world cup as they are the host nation for this world cup tournament, the home crowd advantage will surely be able to cheer up and boost the morale of the whole Russia team when they are falling behind their opponent during the match.
It won't make a big difference in the later on matches like quarter finals or semi finals , home has been considered as a advantage for a while now but this is fifa and i'm sure that there is going to be enough people to support there own country it would all depend on skills and team formation there is no home advantage in fifa most of the time
It is something beneficial for them as they are fully trained in every single stadium present there and definitely, they will be more aware about the stadiums than the teams that will come and play but we cannot say this with a guarantee that they will win this cup because there will be man big countries coming which are not fearful about the stadiums as they know how to play every game.

Just Real Madrid were able to win back to back Champions League titles, I am really betting on Germany to be able to win the World Cup trophy back to back since it hasn’t been done in recent times.
