If the initial provisions have gone well and smoothly, there is no need to change them because they may require changes in their entirety.

It is true that the planning for the World Cup cannot be done in a short time and of course it takes quite a long time to make the perfect World Cup possible.
FIFA has worked well for every World Cup event and this success is also supported by careful planning so that we just accept whatever has become FIFA rules and policies.

Qatar was only shown in the media as not allowing alcohol but the people who were there of course had access to it,not straight away just after they learned how it works,they also ban the women who show their boobs yet they did nothing to punish the most famous fan of Croatia which kept showing her boobs during all the Croatia games.This to say that in any country there are some rules who are not applied when you are a foreigner and also Qatar knew this despite them being a very restrictive country toward the freedom of their citizens.

That's not just about alcohol or some other rules they make in Qatar but that's all about freedom they don't give their people, alcohol is just one example of it. When you visit a country they should respect you as someone who is visiting that country and taking freedom from people is disrespectful.
I think any country can make money from hosting the world from the visitors they come to that country and they will surely bring more demand into that country.

But let's be rationally skeptical for a second. The majority of players' pay comes from their clubs, yet there is no greater honor than playing for your country in the FIFA World Cup. Qatar was never interested in making money from the world cup. I'm fact, no country that have ever hosted the world cup gave every made more than they invested in it. Everything is not about Money. Qatar wanted exposure. They wanted tobopen their world to the rest of the world. They have eyes on much bigger price, like hosting the Olympics and other Asian games.
They also have other prizes in mind like, tourism and the rest.
It was a strategic thing they did and so far it has worked. They have opened their football league up and players are willing to go there. They spent money they had for a long term investment and maybe in the short term you might not see the dividend, but it will be visible in the long run.

Besides they should be appluded for hosting a world cup without alcohol.  .
They gave everybody an experience with their clear eyes and not under the influence of alcohol.
Funny enough, it wasn't as if alcohol was not present in the country, just not in the stadiums and some other public places.

After one World Cup tournament is over, the next World Cup tournament is usually worked on. Organizing such a big tournament requires big planning along with huge amount of financial support which may be very challenging for the authority to manage in two years. If the number of new teams increases every year, it will take more time than usual to organize a tournament which will make it difficult for the management to control the tournament and if there is a continuous match for a long time then there will be a lot of pressure on the players thinking about all these things. Maybe the football world cup will be held every four years instead of every two years.

I somewhat agree with the suggestion that the FIFA World Cup should be played only once every 4 years. I can understand the concern that international matches are getting overshadowed by club competitions nowadays. But the players prefer club matches, because they get the vast majority of their salary from the clubs. If they are forced to play more international matches, then many of these players will just retire from the national team and will focus on the league matches. Still we have a number of international competitions apart from the world cup, such as FIFA Confederations Cup, Olympics football competition, as well as regional competitions such as the Copa América and Euro Cup.

Yeah, one of the important things about the world cup is that it's held only every 4 years.

If it's done every year then it would be similar to other, less prestigious competitions.

The fact that you have to wait 4 years for it makes it an important event.

Also, professional players usually only get to play in maybe one or two world cups in their career, also making this a lifetime achievement.

Being thirsty is one good reason for people to show more interest in the world cup while some national teams are also thirsty for the world cup mostly because of the time they are going to wait for the world cup and they usually have long-term plans to win this tournament while in we see world cups in the shorter period of the time there is the risk for the team to don't take this tournament serious anymore.

I heard the news few years ago and it was a proposition from Arsene Wenger or it was supported by him, not sure. Anyway this was quite old and the idea seems to be abandoned. According to this article, having Men World Cup every 4 years and Women World Cup in between every 4 years might replace the initial proposition.

You don't have to think my friend because the FIFA is indeed not thinking of materializing any of these ideas where they will change the schedule, I don't know where did this rumor or speculation came from but it is safe to say that it's somehow a fake news and that the FIFA calendar will remain as it is for a couple of years or maybe even decades.

I tried to looked it up in the internet for me to see if these speculations were true or not but I did not find anything related to it or at least with similar topics.

Fans will get used to the world cup and it will gradually lose value if it is played every two years. Africa usually has its continental football competition every two years and you cannot compare its value to the European competition. The Euro is more prestigious and gets more global attention than the African Cup of Nations and I am sure the time gap will play a significant role. But having the world cup every two years will allow more teams to participate in the world cup which will lead to the development of football in many countries.

But I don't think FIFA is not nursing such ideas because there has been no such announcement from the organization and no reputable sports media house has reported such a move.

The thing that makes world cup so special is because it is 4 years apart. It's such a rare occasion that not many players end up playing in 4 of them, and very rarely they end up playing in 5 of them (not sure if any ever played at 6 but I am sure it must have happened in a rare case).

A lot of nations do not even participate in it, only some nations do, and that means we get to see who will join it and some of the teams are super happy to be there since they can't always be there. If I am not mistaken, Italy literally won Euro cup and then couldn't go to World cup right after, right? That is showing you how rare it is for teams to join and that means you are going to take advantage of every single minute and fans will care about each second.

It's not good to want the World Cup to be held every two years because FIFA has determined from the start that the schedule for the World Cup is to be held every four years and with a gap of four years can make the World Cup a prestigious football event that is highly anticipated by all national football teams and fans around the world.

FIFA itself has certain reasons and objectives with a schedule that is held every four years and this decision cannot be changed arbitrarily.

Guys, no need to make a big deal out of this because the FIFA itself is not even thinking or considering about changing its format into two years. They are currently busy right now on how would the new format will go because this will the first time that they will expand the event since 1998 and 48 national teams will not take each other instead of 32 teams.

It will be safe to say that FIFA World Cup will not be the same anymore and people will not be that thirsty as well to see the games as the waiting time has been shortened plus, the national teams might no longer prioritizing this event anymore just like how they gave importance to it these days because an event that will just happen once every four years is really a tempting one but if it will be shortened, a lot will change and that is for sure.

If the World Cup could be held after two years, FIFA would have decided long ago. Football World Cup is the biggest tournament in the world where people usually have to wait four years to watch a tournament. If this tournament is organized after two years, the image of this tournament may be damaged. We love anticipation especially for a big tournament like the World Cup. We live with football most of the year and enjoy big tournaments, so there is no need for us to organize a tournament like the World Cup every two years. Seeing that the World Cup is being organized after four years, the Football World Cup has been able to maintain its popularity in this way and other tournaments besides the Football World Cup have been able to successfully complete their games every year.

But I'm sure they will lose interest, the rule is very simple. Imagine you see a tournament every two years and there is no need to wait for it for a longer time now compare it with another situation when you need to wait for more years to finally see the tournament, that's clear that you will have less interest on it and the world cup every two years will not be important like the world cup we see right now for people.

No, you don't sound too dramatic at all and I share your point of view. Commercial interests are creeping into the tiniest holes of authenticity that are left in sports. Whether it is sports betting / gambling or bribery where to host the next big event or buying and selling players with hidden shell companies, whatever happens in the business is related to becoming rich and not so much about becoming successful as a sportsman or as someone who manages sportsmen. The involvement of the media reached a whole new level, rumors are intentionally spread via social media and there are many more examples that fit into this point of view.

At these global events, in particular, I would expect much more of aa exemplary role to be taken by the large organizations like the FIFA. Put an end to all the acting and enforce stricter rules that foster the real game instead of all the theater that is going on. But yes, the FIFA is there to make money even though it is portrayed differently and it is said that they are not for profit and whatever they earn is reinvested into sports infrastructure. But this is nothing more than an illusion and the vision has never materialized in the slightest. The organization became more corrupt, or more corruption came to light and it has always been the same but investigations have become tougher, I don't know. 

I strongly agree with this,Sport motives have been lost,where I live now in a Western Balkans country I have seen in satiric TV emissions that the president of one club had put the manager of a player to let the game and the funny thing the manager was saying to the footballer,"I am not saying you should do a penalty no,you just put the ball out in throw in or corners or you fall down,you know what to do" and they were put to jail thanks to this investigative satiric programs.

This to illustrate that FIFA does not give a damn anymore about sportsmanship but they want to fill their pocket with money,since sport betting came we lost real football battles except a few of them,most of them are theater playing rather than football playing,this is the same even with World Cup and Euro,I know I may sound way too dramatic but that is the truth.
