I have recently applied a rule on Telegram that allows me not to waste time on scammers. I noticed that all suspicious people on Telegram, when writing to me, mostly just a greeting and nothing else. When someone talks to me with a real thing, they usually present it right away - if they don't, then they are out of luck, because I just ignore messages like "Hi", "Hello", "How are you". This is actually enough for now.
I do that too and usually avoid any account with some shady profile picture, it's really unfortunate though telegram can't really stop these plague, I even have reported many accounts that are advertising scam phising website but telegram do nothing to them just letting them roam free scamming people maybe because the amount of accounts created by scammers are too overwhelming.

I'm sure everyone who is here must feel sad about the scam calling one of the great projects in crypto,I myself was also fooled by not having to cross-check the email and had to give one of my wallet keys
and why do I believe it because I myself feel like I am following the project..
From this experience, I have to be more careful not to be in a hurry to believe so that bad things don't come again.
why did you give the key to the project you participated in?
logically, the team would not dare ask for it from anyone.
if it's from the web or an app that has to link your wallet key. I suggest you use a new wallet. not a wallet to store your assets.
such situations are common in exchange projects. there is an incoming email on behalf of a project. we have to be more careful because scammers are always looking for loopholes.

May you have take this as a lesson to always double check and verify the address before proceeding on the transaction proper so you will not miss even a single information that might get you caught into trouble. Now that there many rising projects in the crypto community that I witness day by day, for sure there are lots of scammers out there that are just waiting to seize the moment to took advantage of the weaknesses of the people putting them into frustration right after realizing they have sent into a wrong address and got scammed because of that. Better to always check out small details before you do actions to avoid getting victimized once again by those scammers out there.

@OP
I am sorry to ear about your loss... this can happens, and with enough time you can recover from it while you have learned a good lesson.
I am curious to know more about... how did you pick up a "wrong address"? it was just an error or you was meanwhile visiting some phishing website? More over, pay attention if you have some malicious software that is able to change an address after you have copied it, this has been a very common strategy for scam user ...

There are a lot of scammers in telegram especially with Polkadot project. I had been invited by a Polkadot airdrop group several times and no matter how many times I report it as spam it keeps on appearing on my telegram account. I am careful when I am using telegram, this is a good platform to join crypto group but this is also home for scammers. Just be cautious.
It is not particular to Polkadot project. Scammers will jump on anything. I even saw a post about a fake bitcointalk site..these guys are working real hard to step up their game. We just have to be smarter and careful with what we do. Telegram is flooded with scam groups..it has become a safe haven for scammers. They are quick to send a pm telling you of a life changing investment where you can earn x10 of your capital in hours lol..no jokes people fall for it.

We have to act accordingly, being furious and always put our guards up is very important, lots of scammers are really good in what they are doing.

If you are not careful you'll just find yourself being victimized, don't bother to waste your time with social media especially in telegram where a lots of scamming are ongoing.

Sepnd time in learning and free up your mind fro those hackers and scammers around you.

There is a start for everything , so i just get first time scammed and hope last time.
Since few times i follow polkadot env and liked their projects especially polkastarter . it's like the ico's for projects to raise money . I wanted to participate to one of them and got whitelisted to superfarm ($super) to buy in the presale at a good price but sended 0.25 eth to wrong adress . yes i'm little bit dumb they made a clone of their official telegram channel and i get caught . usually i don't do that but we all do mistakes .

the adress of the scammer : 0xC88b5F4aaE1C8f2778DEF2257b6bAf1BA62E4B09

i hope he will die  with a cancer . i lost $447.83USD that's 50% of my humble portfolio and i worked hard to put this money in . i know that there is nothing i can do and i feel little bit down but that's life assholes are everywhere . Whitout this scammers cryptocurrency and the world would be better .

So just a little thought for me . good luck and get your money safe

Lots of people very often receive messages via different chats from so-called admins or supporters in order to get your data like wallet address or seed phrase. Or very often frauds make clone chats or accounts or addresses. That's why in this case it is a fraud and not scam, because it was not the project's fault, it was lack of your watchfullness. And the best way to protect yourself is to be extremely attentive. But you get the most valuable thing - experience, and the next time it wi be really hard to fraud you)) that is a good side of this situation.

actually not just polkadot. I also join other telegrams, and have quite a number of scammers who try to create similar telegram groups and make names like moderators or admins with the lure of airdrops. however, our vigilance must be extremely high in this matter. quite a number of people are deceived just because of the similarity of telegram and system.
why will those scammers make a simillar group to what you joined when you are already on the legit group ? they will easily got caught when they do that but they can make their selves as an admin or moderator if they created the group but it doesnt make them appealing if they have those status since you already know that they are scammers . i never get decieve in telegram because if i like a project and joined it i only joined the link that officialy came from their root source and not by searching inside the telegram

Telegram scams have intensified this year. Actually all scammers get very active when the bull market begins. Never trust someone who contacts you first with a great offer. When the offer is too good, it should alarm you immediately that it may be a scam. Always confirm everything in official project chat rooms by very carefully checking their names and usernames of people you are contact with.
Social media is a platform for verification and discussion or communication in the participation of a project or related cryptocurrency or anything, especially telegrams that are always connected and also a place for scammers to commit fraud and find gullible targets.
and to avoid scams on telegram we can avoid all private messages that offer something tantalizing and not easy to believe.
Just avoid those kind of accounts that uses some womans picture and  out of the blue trying to reach out to you, it seems the scammer targetting people by impersonating someone and if you do that, you easily avoid 90% of the scam cases.
Seems unreal that someone could fall into that trap but it's true and not many of people familiar with the condition of situation around telegram groups.

Investing in the Defi project you have to be careful, because not everyone can make money, yes I know it's a bad thing that has just happened to you, frustration is a natural thing, but if you get frustrated all day long and don't want to play in the world cryptocurrency again because of this, so I say sad, being exposed to a scammer is already a risk, I have also experienced it.

Being scamed is really frustrated, but when you were in such situation, you have a huge experience, which can be really useful in your life, so you shouldn`t be sad about it. Of course it`s always unpleasantly, but such situations make us smarter and help us to avoid bigger mistakes in future
Appreciate that kind of charisma.
And since we are exposed to online transactions, we can't sure that we are 100% guaranteed safe from scammers and hackers. They are around us and we might be a lucky person becoming their targets over a thousand/millions crypto users. That is why I usually don't make exchange talks to someone online, especially when dealing with investment. It is much better to use an exchanger if we wanted to buy coins, that will be safe.

this will be a valuable lesson throughout your life because after all your money will never come back if you have been trapped by a fake project that was planned in detail by scammers.  Everyone will feel frustrated when they lose a lot of money even if they only make small mistakes because they are not careful to enter the wrong address when making transactions.  this is where we have to be more careful in choosing a project, don't be easily tempted by a pretty good presale price offer because usually fraudulent projects certainly take advantage of the lure that is large enough to attract the attention of many people
Do you know that there are more scammers on telegram project groups than real projects groups?, therefore it takes time for newbies to know exactly the faulty part of them, the failed path in them, confirmation of whitepaper either it's a plagiarised content or not, these researches may let you know if they are scam or not, so you could be careful enough to participate in their ICO.

In any mediums then those scams are really present and making yourself arent really that sensible into those things then you would most likely getting scammed.
You should use up your common sense and you would really be saving up your ownself on losing money.First time scammed? Im sure that most of us did really
experience the same thing where we do really get scammed when we are still noob.Im not generalizing but i highly believe that we do all commit the same common
mistakes when we are just starting.of course frustration is there and when reality slaps you hard in the face and then this is where learning starts.
