In my country without a pandemic, food prices go up every year! Cheesy
But some categories have risen much more than usual - in particular agricultural products... Also imported things, such as clothes or cars, have become noticeably more expensive, but this is because the national currency is losing purchasing power...
Same, I'm wondering the same thing but realize that pandemic is not the only hindrance to productivity because calamities do exist. Products now are very limited that's why any prodcuts especially foods have increased prices during the pandemic. As long as, there are things that slows the production rate, it will probably increase its price because of shortage of foods.

The overall cost of most types of meat, poultry, fish and eggs has increased by 4.3%, the largest increase of any single grocery category. Various cuts of beef saw a 3.7% increase, while pork prices went up by 3% and poultry prices rose 4.7%. The rising prices of meat and eggs have been offset, somewhat, by relatively tame inflation for fruits and vegetables. Even so, some vegetable prices have jumped, too. Another reason is climate changes and new taxes for carbon and also increased demand for a lot of products.

Meat is now so expensive and that also includes Chicken meat and Pork. Most of the people here in our province told me that it is because of the people buying people's pigs and bringing them to cities or rural places and to be sold there. Our province now are having a low source of meat which also means having a high value these days. Being in a pandemic, this would be really hard for the people.

Food prices in my country tend to go up, can't blame this covid either. I feel that something is quite wrong in the regulations that are implemented by the government in my country. I feel that they do not consider the prices of local food producers and only focus on imports. for certain cases there is also a surplus in certain foodstuffs, but even so they still import with a sizeable amount. I'm not sure if this is one of the bilateral strategies between countries or what, but for sure it's really bad at controlling prices in the domestic market

Due to the epidemic and natural disasters, various countries have experienced unemployment of varying degrees, which indirectly affects the agricultural production sector. Many countries only have enough food to be self-sufficient, which has led to a serious shortage of food supplies in many countries that rely on imports.

The dynamism of the world economy now is on the high side. This is because the world is indirectly facing hard times even before the covid-19 problem. Covid-19 only increases the level of hard times. Most GDP are dropping because jobs have been lost.

The governments need to look into agriculture seriously because of food shortage globally.
the virus hindered the transportation of pesticide and fertilizer, thus the yield declines, the transportation will be hindered as well. Then food supply get into trouble.

The prices of vegetables, various meats and fruits have all increased to a certain extent.
The primary influencing factor of price is supply and demand. When the supply is less than the need, prices will rise.
In 2020, if you look at the global environment, you will find that food production has been affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic and various natural disasters.
Therefore, rising food prices are normal.

it's very normal. Allegedly north of China now is suffering severely from covid-19, their food is needy. the virus blocked the transportation of food and some food got avoided for the virus attached. so, supply doesn't satisfy demand.

Humanity is suffering owed to this pandemic. But don't forget that because of this crisis, we also realized a lot of things in our lives. How we communicate or interact with our closed family members, how we take care of our environment, and things that we can do in order to survive a pandemic. Not all bad things happened during this period. We are a survivor of this life. So facing the increase of prices in goods and services is just only one thing of the many. We will surpass this stage and we will emerge a better or stronger person after this crisis.
Food prices were bound to rise as a result of the pandemic. Even if the governments of the countries take measures to prevent this from happening and the situation with food prices is subjected to a certain freeze, all the same, the factors of full and partial lockdowns, the closure of state borders and borders between regions, the problem of lack of workers from agricultural producers will still later affect the price tags.

I believe every nation have had its own share of the state of the hard times that we are going through as a whole. I could remember vividly that some of the things that you can easily purchased then, you dare not try it now, why because of the increment in price. The cost of transportation has double. Even of not by 150%, food too is part of it. What used to sustain a whole family for three months before can no long sustain them for a month. This period is really a hard one for the whole world. People are loosing their jobs and this is still going to continue, that's the part that sadden my heart. But I believe we are coming out of this hard time soon. We shall smile again.

Actually is the consequence of corona virus, because I understand that since the existence of these virus across the world I noticed that things changed from normal to abnormal state, because corona virus stabilized everything and it's add it values through humans, price of food material going up these seasons, it might caused with condition or two factors, which are (A) economy revenue of the country, and (B) covid19 disturbance in society.

I think it's not only because of the corona virus because even when the spread was high at that time I didn't get the feed to raise the price and quite the opposite, at least over time some food prices did go up but it was only for a while then it would return to normal. During a pandemic or at least it was a time of crisis I think it might be natural for some of the prices to increase, but if the government doesn't act quickly to return to normal prices then the increase in prices might be a plan for a recovery.

When i have time i go to local market to check prices

Vegetable prices doubled
Fruit prices doubled
Meat prices around 30% increase
Grain products around 20% increase
...

And my country  is a exporter of food products

How is it in your country ? Same ?

----------------------

My country is Romania

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-10/food-supply-fears-are-growing-as-romania-bans-grain-exports

We tried to ban exports of grain ,but stupid EU intervened...
It should already be expected as a detrimental effect of this never ending pandemic. As places gets quarantined and as transport of goods gets more and more limited to avoid the dissemination of the virus, the value of the products would definitely increase. In my country, pork and meat are already getting more expensive even the vegetables. Everyone is affected because of this pandemic specially the businesses in different places. It would surely result to much worse poverty in the making as people end up losing their jobs and as the essential needs grow in price.

This year's grain production has been severely affected by natural disasters and the epidemic. The global food production has been affected to a certain extent,
Agree with you,
Further, In addition, rice is also the most important food crop to feed about half of the population
Quote
so the supply is correspondingly reduced, and the demand is relatively stable, which has caused the increase in food prices.
Some of the objective reasons that I think are directly or indirectly related to rising food prices:
1. The Covid-19 pandemic caused a record high  and broke the food supply chain.
2. Climate change increases crop diseases, natural disasters, floods ...
3. The most serious forest fire  in California or grasshopper accident in Ethiopia.
All disrupted agricultural output, disrupting the food supply chain.

Wheat production is stable and major producers such as Russia and Ukraine have reported harvests slightly below that from last year (78 million tons vs 86 million tons for Russia). Predictions were quite gloomy a few months back, but then improved weather conditions have helped the farmers. Same is the case with soybean and corn as well. There is no large scale decrease.

With less supply and more demand in the market it's expected to double up the price of these items and with the pandemic we have right now it gives more difficult to accumulate all these because of the supply shortage. All people are affected on these shortages and we all hoping that this year we get our vaccines.

I thought the food is just way too high because the holidays are coming last year in which it is normal that the prices of the food when Christmas season and the new year is coming it is normal that the price of meat, fruits, and vegetables is increasing. But right now that the holiday season is finish already still whenever I am going to the market to buy food especially meat, the prices of it are way too high compared to the original price or SRP of each product. I don't know why it is happening, I think it is because of the supply of the food in which the supply was too low and maybe it is also an effect of the pandemic.
