They would be able to get a few players from the youth squad paid a lot better than these players and could provide more than them as well. Not like they need them, they are finding new players that are doing quite well.

Plus it opens the door for people that are free agents to sign with them, since they are getting rid of two contracts, if they do not pay any transfer fee, they will be able to get one or more players that are getting the same contract that these players are getting. They could get someone younger with this method and I think it should be a smart decision for a team with that much debt.
