Nevertheless, I don't see him retiring from football until 40 years old, he might be playing with club sides so far he is still in a good form, though it can't be like before.

Messi can extend his contract with PSG for a few seasons. He will always able to play in the champion league with PSG and he has got a very good salary in PSG. The world cup can't be considered as a good aspect to determine whether that player was worth to buy or not. Let's see which club that will be willing to buy him and i guess none.
