Yep, Thiago was set to sign the extension in May but had a change of heart - telling Bayern he'd like a new challenge. They could have cashed in now or lost him for free next summer.
Bayern needs to strengthen as well so it's a good long-term decision from them.
City still has better squad depth. I think LFC would have big problems if 1 of the front 3 got injured for longer time. Or if something happened to Van Dijk.
Well, City lost the title early on after Laporte's injury. It's the same for all teams - nobody has 22 players to choose from.
Thiago deal truly strengthens Liverpool - City has yet to bring a player that would improve their game in the same way.
I agree City is the best team on paper and regarding squad depth, but Liverpool's midfield and offensive threat (attackers + fullbacks) is the best one in the world with Thiago.
Imagine, Robertson, VVD and Mane on the left side, with Thiago as a left no. 8 (I know he will wear no. 6, 8 is a positional reference) and Firmino dropping deep. Switch sides, there are Trent and Salah. Unplayable
