When Barca ask for players then price is raising same is when Real wants to buy or any other big club

Right, that is true but, I think the only reason why Barcelona paid that much was just to make they beat PSG and Man City to his signature.

I mean, we haven't seen him playing with Barcelona so it might be too early to say that he'll be another Andre Gomes. If he can adapt as fast as Arthur did (a player with no experience in european football), then maybe he'll turn out to be a decent signing, time will tell if he'll become a top player.

I guess I was just being too hard on him already. I actually like De Jong as a player, I was only disappointed in the Barcelona board for another unnecessary signing. You also acknowledged that Arthur has adapted well but still that has not been good enough to secure him a place in the starting xi, what then could we expect the fate of De Jong to be.

Hey i believe they had no choice had they waited for summer it would have resulted in a bidding war, but even considering that I feel they have vastly over paid for him. While there’s no doubts about the quality of what De Jong will bring, I’m just not sure how he’ll get into the starting line up. Also it’s pertinent to note with Barcelona coach not sure to stay beyond this season, this signing doesn’t make any sense especially when there’s news they’ll move for Neymar.

No need for Rabiot though.
Yeah, last I heard, Tottenham were interested in him, though I still think Daniel Levy will keep his no-signings policy until the next season.

-snip-

Sometimes Barca tend to overpay a team when it comes to transfers of players as even if they don't end up liking him they can sell it to another team without any kind of loss. Frankie De Jong is not a player to skip with as remember Ajax is known from its youth academy in Netherlands and has produce a lot of wonder kinds in the past like Christian Eriksen, Zlatan Ibrahimović, and more recently Davinson Sánchez the problem is all the players I have mentioned have been sold way lower than what Barcelona is paying for so I think their scouts are seeing something we are not.
Yes but they also had some promising players that ended up being flops like Kishna, El Ghazi, Zivkovic, Viktor Fischer, Bazoer.

-snip-

Options be dammed! Really, I'd rather have them splash that fee on a young centre forward, than De jong, he lack experience in all ramifications and I'd not expect him to be slotted into Starting XI anytime soon, he'd lose the confidence in less than anyone can imagine with a great pressure that comes with playing in the Barca shirt, here comes another Andre Gomes from Barcelona board.

Barcelona have completed the signing of Dutch midfield wonderkid Frenkie de Jong from Ajax for €75 million.
That's an absurd fee IMHO, Just give Denis Suarez a chance, he's better than De Jong!
According to some spanish sites, the fee could go up to 86 million with some add-ons.

Is De Jong the new Xavi or Iniesta? is he really that good? It seems a bit a weird that Barcelona would pay almost 90m for a player that has less than 50 appearances with Ajax. Also, don't they have a bunch of midfielders already? Busquest, Rakitic, Vidal, Coutinho, Arthur, Aleñá, Puig, Sergi Roberto...it's good to have some options but damn...

Time will tell .He is young and very talented .Barca had great time with Dutch players
Crazy price look Piatek deal half year in poor Italian club previously he was playing in vegoary low quality Polish club
He score some goals but 35 mln euro
Genoa bought him for 4 mln half year ago
It is all madness

They paid so much because PSG was gonna grab him and Barca fans couldn't stand that so they paid the extra 15M.

He's good, he's shown lots of potential in the CL and with the Netherlands (a team who played very good games against France and Germany recently).
Barca is preparing the future. Rakitic won't stay forever. Vidal is a sub and Coutinho is more offensive.
Arthur and de Jong are young and could become very good players for them.
No need for Rabiot though.

Just the very same way they couldn't watch Roma have Malcom who's now supposedly a "loss" logically.

We are in the last 8 days of the transfer window, and the deals are flying in already.. Mario Balotelli has signed a contract with Olympique Marseille until June, Higuain is in to London to complete Chelsea loan move while Piatek undergoes milan medicals.

Zaha to Dortmund...  YES PLEASE!  It hurts seeing him stuck at Crystal Palace all these years when he could be great if he moved to a better club or transfer to another league.  What he needs is another agent.  Grin

I don't think there is more information about Emiliano Sala
snip

I think it’s safe to assume that he’s dead. I just watched the news & a rescue guy was saying the water temperature will be around 10 degrees, hypothermia would set in pretty quickly.

It’s a terrible thing to happen.

Unfortunately, the search team says the same thing that chances of survival is very slim, but we just have to hold on to that slim chance with great faith and hope, that's the most anyone can give for now. #PrayForSala

I don't think there is more information about Emiliano Sala. I don't want to risk too much between the circuit. Boateng just kept his way to Barcelona.

Yeah I’m just hearing about Emiliano Sala too, terrible news. Simply awful, just shows you that football means nothing. We should all cherish our loved one’s & be thankful for good health. You never know when your time is up.

RIP young man Sad
And don’t forget the pilot & whoever else was on board.

Latest update says that the police have canceled the search for today and will resume tomorrow morning. As of now, chances of survival are very slim  Undecided

Some transfer rumours from today:

- Valencia keen on Belotti (Torino).

- Piatek (Genoa) to AC Milan for 35m almost done deal. Batshuayi (Valencia) or Sanabria (Real Betis) could be his replacement in Genoa.

- Balotelli (OGC Nice) close to signing with Marseille.

- PSG have offered around 60m for Allan (Napoli).

- Juventus keen on Darmian (Manchester United).

Anyone knows why the Champions League thread is locked ?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/europa-leaguechampions-league-lounge-1155775
Good question... Probably only mod hilariousandco can asnwer why this thread is locked. Maybe he will unlock it in February few days before round of 16 games.

It's prolly a good idea to start making new threads for both the CL (and the EPL) anyway imo.  And prolly even better to make new ones every season...?  I've been asking everybody about it every now and then but nobody seems to care.  Lol.

Just wanted to mention that PSG's Marco Verratti is supposed to be out for 3 weeks. He could miss the first leg against MU.
And since PSG desperately need to sign (even more now) a midfielder, this could be a big advantage for MU.
One of their main targets for PSG is De Jong (Ajax), but Barcelona are also interested. It all depends on De Jong and which club he'd like to go, if I were him, I would've picked Barcelona a long time ago.

I really can't understand what Barca are doing in transfer market sometimes. They were also interested in Carlos Vela, but then reached loan agreement for loand deal with Sassuolo and Boateng will play in Barca until end of this season. Barca had Munir as backup
Munir left the club to join Sevilla on a 3-year contract, that's why Barca were desperately looking for a new striker.

Boateng is definitely a weird signing, but let's not forget what they did with Paulinho, everyone was laughing and saying how random this transfer was, but he ended up being an important player to the club with some great performances...strange that they let him go.

Fuck !

"Cardiff City's record signing Emiliano Sala was on board a private jet which disappeared en route from Nantes to the Welsh capital on Monday evening."
Yeah, just saw this, devastating news. This is the last update: https://twitter.com/guernseypolice/status/1087677513499897858

Kevin Prince Boateng signs for Barcelona on loan.

And I thought that the career of this guy had ended after he left AC Milan. He may be on loan but there is a term in the contract that he would move to Barcelona after the end of the season permanently.

I hope he will grab his last chance to prove his football skills this time.
