Guess this is a very good decision taken by Chelsea. I have no doubt about that.
The problem is Chelsea definitely has to get straight off the coach that they have right now.
Otherwise, I don’t think they are going to be long-term. And even though I think getting young players in the squad is definitely a step towards the right direction, at the end of the day, the players are going to be managed by the coach.
if the coach is not technically good enough, it is going to eventually be a big problem for the team. I mean I think it is already a big problem. But it seems like the Chelsea authority actually thinks otherwise. With the squad that they have, they should be able to perform better. However, there is another thing which needs to be taken into consideration. They were able to get good results towards the end of the season. So maybe there is a chance that they will still keep the current coach for another season.
Pochettino performance did not really satisfy fans, because Chelsea failed to finish in the Champions League zone, but if we compare it with last season, Pochettino seems to have done a good job. Last season Chelsea finished in 12th place, and this season Chelsea finished in 6th place, so to be fair Pochettino deserves appreciation. However, when you look at Chelsea as an elite Premier League club, the Blues should appear more impressive this season.
Pochettino seems to be more inclined to believe in potential young players, but he still retains several senior names in his squad, at least to keep the transition going well. In fact, building depth in a squad containing young players is not wrong, but to win trophies I don't think that will be enough, Pochettino needs more time to be able to present trophies.
Meanwhile, it looks like the Blues management will retain Pochettino next season, even though most fans are disappointed with the team performance, they still have to be grateful for finishing in 6th place. Even this season, Chelsea finished in a better place than United, Ten Hag's fleet had to be willing to be ranked 8th in the standings.
