Being a liverpool fan was a little bit scared last night ( my time zone is utc +5). We won in with a unpersuasive way and was given goal by the opponent. This could harm a whole team's spirit. Moreover, losing Van Dijk till the end of this year makes the situation even worse. After all, win is win and as a fan, we have to support the team no matter what condition they are facing. Although they performed quite bad in some previous matches, i still have fate that they will soon be back on track. Klopp certainle knows what to do to boost the whole squad's spirit

Never mind because a win is a win and Liverpool got the points. It will be interesting to see how much they miss Van Dijk as the season progresses because they know every team will be trying to have a real go at their defence, not sure exactly who can step up and try to replace him because Van Dijk is a top class central defender.

Ugly win for my boys, Liverpool. 3 points is 3 points though, I thought Fabinho was excellent at CB in Van Dijk’s place. Bigger tests lie ahead but I was happy to start the group stage with a win against a good team away from home.

Yes. The problem when you lose the very best player is that anyone who comes in - even if they're very good - will still never be quite as good as the original. It's a big ask for someone to fill the role of Van Dijk, and to do so not just in individual matches, but consistently for the full length of time he is going to be out of action. Bigger tests do lie ahead, and teams will be ruthless and try to exploit the gap that Van Dijk has left. Even if the replacement is excellent, it's still a point of vulnerability.

I'm happy for Atlanta, Baryern Munich and Manchester City. They've got just a start that they required. Baryern Munich stepping on their goal scoring once more simply gives me the impression that, their relaxation from the league games was virtually aimed at gathering momentum for the Uefa Champions League. One thing I very much admire about them is, if Baryern Munich has started scoring, they don't take a back seat and maybe start defending their goals as in the case of Chelsea 3-3 Southampton, your always sure to see Baryern Munich out to score more goals. Once they are able to score 2-3 goals and they've got time, the goals just keeps coming.
I'm sure they are at it again, planned on not loosing any game, a wonderful goal difference and sure to defend their title as Champions.
Atlanta remains a dark horse that will shock many clubs this season in the Champions League, last season they made it through to the quarter-finals before being defeated by Paris Saint Germain, starting the inaugural match Atlanta successfully won 3 full points, Manchester City and also Bayern Munich also got positive results too. Only Real Madrid started the first match with a very bad result, playing as the hosts had to admit defeat to Sakhtar Donesk by a narrow score of 2 - 3 after Valverde's goal in the last minute was disallowed by the referee after seeing the VAR broadcast.

Why wasn’t Ronaldo playing, still isolating with covid? Looks like they didn’t miss him too much, they got a comfortable victory really. Any way the rest of the games are on now, gonna follow my bets, signing out for the day Smiley

Yes, I think he is having some problems because he traveled to Italy in order to play while it was forbidden because of his illness, so it is logical to think that this was the reason. But yes, it seems they didn't miss him too much.

Hearing the Uefa Champions League anthem once again feels me with love for the game. I don't know but who ever composed that him did a rather good job.
And the UCL kicked off with Zenith St Petersburg Vs Club brugge and Dynamo Kyiv Vs Juventus and though the first half of the game came off quite challenging with a goalless draw across both games, the scoreline ends with

Ft. Zenith St Petersburg 1-2 Club brugge

Ft. Dynamo Kyiv 0-2 Juventus

With Alvaro Morata scoring his first and the first goal for this season, ending the match in a brace for Juventus this seasoning with Club brugge and Juventus bagging all 3 points. What a nice way to start the season for Alvaro Morata.
I'm sure Christiano Ronaldo is watching with enthusiasm.

The Champions League draw has been made. From the EPL the teams competing are Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

These are the top two teams from each group I think will automatically qualify for the next round:

Group A:
Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid

Group B:
Real Madrid, Inter Milan,

Group C:
Manchester City, Marseille

Group D:
Liverpool, Ajax

Group E:
Chelsea, Sevilla

Group F:
Borussia Dortmund, Lazio

Group G:
Juventus, Barcelona

Group H:
Manchester United, Paris St-Germain

disagree in some groups. I think instead of Ajax, you can put Atalanta, instead of Latsio Zenit, and instead of Manchester United, Leipzig.these teams may well qualify for the exit from the group.

Thank you for your views about which teams will qualify out of the group stages but if I am not mistaken I think the top two from each group automatically qualify. You listed one team per group.

Football can be unpredictable something cause the game is full of surprises sometime but for group A I believe Bayern Munich will make it out of the group stages while the below teams also qualify to the next stage of the competition.
Group B Real Madrid
Group C Manchester City
Group D Liverpool
Group E Chelsea
Group F Zenit St Petersburg
Group G Juventus
Group H Paris St-Germain

Which teams do you think will make it out of the group stages and on to the next stage of the competition?

@JollyGood it seems to me that you have played it safe by selecting the strong teams, and more or less I agree with your selections, but I’m not so sure that Manchester United will proceed ahead. Also I’ll be honest that as a Manutd fan I’ll be hoping that Manchester United wins and qualifies for the next round, but the reality is that they’re paired in a group of death, hence I don’t think that they will qualify for the next round.
