I just think that Messi's role at PSG is not the same as when he was at Barcelona. He wasn't a penalty taker at PSG but he was the first choice at Barcelona. Messi is also difficult to score at PSG not because he is not capable, but Mbappe and Neymar are the target men there who make Messi often miss opportunities. Apart from that he was also unlucky with his accuracy, there were a lot of balls hitting the post and that made him a bit frustrated.

Messi has been included in the PSG squad to win the Champions League title. And so they are not using Messi properly in Ligue 1 matches. Even Messi himself is less interested in Ligue 1 matches. In Barcelona we have seen such a good performance of Messi, we do not see his good performance with the PSG team. However, if PSG's coaches change, maybe PSG's overall gameplay and strategy will change.

That could be true because the demands he wants are also comparable to what he puts into Barcelona.
A little talk about his declining performance at Paris Saint Germain. So it crossed my mind, will when he stay at Barcelona will Messi's performance be the same? If so, then Barcelona's decision to release his star is the right decision in my opinion.
You can see his performance stats and goal stats every season at Barcelona, he is a player who has really managed to maintain his quality at Barcelona but with PSG his appearances and goals stats are dropping. Maybe not a total failure because I really saw him succeed at PSG for his first season, he scored goals and provided assists but people expected him to do something bigger.

I think Messi leaving Barcelona was not a thing of just choice. The club has been in financial debt and couldn't afford its huge wage demands so it was a junction of no return for Messi and Barcelona and had to depart. On the other hand, PSG is a rich club that can carry the load of Messi's wage demands so it was a good choice to go to PSG. He might not be performing as expected but we also have to understand that he is aged and no longer at his peak so should expect a drop in form now and then.

Tomorrow we will have the first games for the next edition of the Champions League.

These are the games for the PRELIMINARY HALF FINAL ROUND:
La Fiorita (San Marino) - Inter Scaldes (Andorra)
FCI Levadia (Estonia) x Vikingur Reykjavik (Iceland)

Are you going to place bets?

I think both games are going to go over, I don't know which teams to go for If I were to bet, I'd likely judge just by the ranking of the country. but I'd fancy the Over 2.5 goals more, these qualifiers are often goals infested.

And I think Vikingur Reykjavik odds for ML or double chance is quite valuable imo, despite being away from home.

Yes I agree with Vikingur being a much stronger team than Levadia Tallin but it would be not wise to be on Money Line on them. They are playing away and they can very well play defensively and get a draw as a result while they are sure to beat Levadia in the return leg at home.Nowadays football has gone up in quality in every single country in the world so we can expect anything in these pre qualifiers but given the fact that we know how many goals usually teams in the Estonian Liga are scored I would say the safest bet to be over 2.5 goals in this game.

I don't know the teams from San Marino and Andorra so I don't have any idea for that game.

It seems that you only know about the situation in Barcelona from high-profile headlines and therefore think that Messi is the main reason. The main problem of Barcelona is an inflated budget and, as a result, a huge accumulated debt (which by the way did not allow Messi to stay in the team

Many reasons might have been attributed to the challenges of Barcerlona bit i think Messi laso has it own compoundment follows, why i say so is that eother we like it or not Messi has dropped in performance unlike before and in knowing this he as well discover that leaving would be the best available option all by himself before the rejection comes from Barcelona, there are things that only needs the application of wisdom just to help make it work out as expected, we've got many players now who could substitute the significant role of Messi.

In my opinion, Messi made a good decision in terms of money (PSG is a bag of which it’s not a sin to milk) but a bad one in terms of image - outside of Barcelona he turned out to be an ordinary player. But he couldn't stay in Barcelona because, according to trade union rules, he could not agree to a >=50% cut in wages even if he wanted to, and Barcelona had no money to pay a normal salary.

Folks, Champions League 2022/23 starts today. Yeah, today. There is still few months until start of group stage, but Preliminary Qualifying round begins now.
There is 2 single leg games today. La Fiorita - Inter Escalades and Levadia - Vikingur. Winners of these games face each other in the final of Preliminary round. I imagine these teams sounds a bit exotic for most of you Cheesy.

About teams like Chelsea to become the champions here, I also love to see these things. Football isn't about being the best offensive team among all of the tournament participants. Chelsea weren't that much effective compared to the teams that had incredible offensive players in that season but they still were very solid at defending. Tuchel had a system that was working great and it helped them reach the title. There is no hindrance for them or some other team like them to do this again.
I agree with you. The Champions League is won by experienced clubs, not just those who can score goals. For example PSG who have the best players from all over the world in their team. They are second to none in their home league, but they have failed to excel in the Champions League, despite being regarded by many as legitimate championship candidates.
If you compare the players who strengthen the club, then there is no mistaking that Paris Saint Germain has everything that is at this club. But it's not just about the players, but the mentality and effective play that goes hand in hand with each other is one of the biggest factors and shouldn't be ruled out. They (PSG) may have everything, but everything they have does not guarantee great success.

It's not easy to win the Champions League trophy, because they have to beat a lot of strong teams. Therefore, not only good players are needed,
but how effective strategies and mental strength greatly affect the outcome of the match. Even though Real Madrid doesn't have as many star
players as PSG and Man City, the reality is that Real Madrid was able to get rid of these two strong teams. Likewise, when facing Liverpool who
played better, Real Madrid was able to beat Liverpool and finally won the match. Learning from the success of Real Madrid, it takes good teamwork
and also a strong mentality to be able to win the Champions League trophy. Moreover, Real Madrid is the most experienced team
in the Champions League, it is not surprising that Real Madrid has won the most Champions League trophies.

Next season's Champions League competition should be tougher and also more interesting, because almost all teams strengthen their squad
by bringing in new players. Therefore the strength of each team will change, not to mention the several teams that failed in this year's,
at least they learn from their mistakes. Which is not enough to bring in new players, but correcting mistakes is also very important.
So which teams want to learn from every mistake they make, I believe this team will be the strongest candidate to win the Champions League trophy.

It's not like that in theory, actually Messi could have played like his style of play at Barcelona but Messi was not arrogant and still played the new player's way as he should. Because even, initially Messi was offered a jersey number 10 but rejected it and chose the same jersey number as the number Messi used when he first played for Barcelona in the past. For this reason, we assume that Messi does not have a cocky attitude and remains humble in his new team. It's not about just being good at playing for Barcelona, because Messi at PSG is still a great player with his own style of play. With Messi providing a lot of assists means Messi supports for other players to score goals, and Messi still contributes well to the team.
Regardless of being arrogant or not, I still see it from the point of view of their current pattern of play and tactics.
Indeed, from a humble perspective, Messi is quite generous and not arrogant when he is at PSG.
But if he wants to play like he did at Barcelona it's obviously quite difficult considering the patterns of play between PSG and Barcelona are very different and when Messi wants to do the same as Barcelona did it's obviously going to be considered selfish of course because he moves a lot and carries the ball. .

Yes I agree with what you said about Messi, especially about the image of his game. At Paris Saint Germain, he played like an ordinary player without showing that he is one of the best players in the world who is still actively playing. He seems to confirm that he is only good at playing for Barcelona, but not for other teams. I think that lowers his quality.
I agree with you. We have seen that when Messi was with Neymar and the Barcelona club in the city, they would fight in a very strong way in any match. Messi and Neymar's chemistry was such that only the two of them had a lot of plans for the coaching and team management of the opposing team.Since Messi joined PSG and got easier with Neymar again, it can be said that the two of them will take PSG a long way again like Barcelona.
I think it's quite difficult, even though their chemistry was good at Barcelona but that is a thing of the past and at that time they were in a golden age, but for now it's different. They are quite old now and they will only be able to be a good supporter for other players who are more shining like Mbappe.
Regardless of what their role is now, it will only be like that considering that PSG will definitely prioritize Mbappe in the future.

I think the opinion that it was luck comes from the fact that Real Madrid did not play as spectacularly as we were used to by "Spanish football". I don't know where it comes from, but I have the impression that Real Madrid is playing more and more football similar to the "German football". It is hard work, focus and consistent pursuit of victory. A lot of people may not like it, but for Real Madrid, the most important thing is that they are simply effective.
But many people think that it is sheer luck without seeing how they apply disciplined and coordinated football in creating counter-attacks. Their hard work in maintaining depth must also be accompanied by a good transition between attack and defense and vice versa. It was a good partnership, and I think few have succeeded with a strategy like Real Madrid's.
The idea of "sheer luck" is just a pure lie told by fans of other clubs to diminish the value of their win and nothing more. There will be plenty of English fans, from Chelsea to city to Liverpool all of the British great teams that Real beat, and they will always talk about how it was luck that brought them the cup, because otherwise they would have accept that it was a fair game where Real played better and they were the better team and won.

I know for a fact there are a few people who think like that, and I am sorry but Real just played amazing well, against all their opponents, and it is normal for them to feel like they deserved it every bit as any other winner before.

Sometimes we see surprising teams winning the Champions League too. Because Chelsea's winning the title wasn't very expected two seasons ago. They were just too good at defending their opponents and this especially helped them win the title. Real Madrid's amazing success last season wasn't very expected too when we newly got past the group stage. Because there were some teams like Manchester City and PSG that were favoured highly. I love the Champions League when we this kind of things too. Otherwise we wouldn't see different teams becoming the champions here much. I don't mean Real Madrid as a different team though as they became the champions the most here.  Cheesy
I agree with you. Chelsea winning the Champions League trophy two seasons back was really surprising. Many people never expected the Blues to lift the title. But they had a tight defense which gave their opponent tough time to access their goalpost, and that helped them in achieving the trophy. While, last season. I literally thought Manchester City was going to win the trophy because they had a balanced squad, and their performance was impressive. But they were unfortunately kicked out by Real Madrid at the Semi finals.

I understand if someone says Real Madrid is lucky to win the Champions League trophy this year. That's because in the Champions League
final Liverpool were more in control of the game, then Liverpool's players created more chances. However, Thibaut Courtois has become
a Real Madrid hero. Surprisingly Courtois played well by making quite several saves. So to say Real Madrid won dramatically,
but indeed Real Madrid managed to beat Liverpool because they had a winning mentality and Real Madrid's attack was much more effective.
I understand the fact that many Liverpool fans and other football fans have predicted Liverpool winning the championship because of the performance in the run-up to the finals, but luckily Real Madrid become the winner but that doesn't mean the winning is luck based because Real Madrid work to it.

Cristiano Ronaldo's leaving Real Madrid didn't affect them too badly at all. Many people expected them to be in a worse condition after he left but Real Madrid still managed to stay strong. They became the champions in the Champions League too. This proves how much awesome team Real Madrid are now. Barcelona didn't experience the same thing after Messi left the team. They struggled a lot for some time and they are newly recovering now. It is really good to see Real Madrid like this because it proves that they aren't dependent on one player.

I agree with you, because Real Madrid players never allowed the team to fail like other teams. I think, Real Madrid managements took their time to invested a huge amount of money on talented strikers like, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema and others in case anyone is leaving the team the thing will not affect the team. The reason why Barcelona failed since Messi left the team, is because their managements missed the opportunity to invested a huge amount of money on talented strikers when Messi was there, thinking he will remain with them forever.

Real madrid understand how to keep the team moving, they believe investing on talented players will make the team very strong and to win every trophy.  Their mentality in investing in good players has also helped them to generate more fund in the club. With this mentality Real Madrid has their team will always be one cf the best.

Is only someone who does not know what football is all about that will classify Real Madrid wining as cheer luck, I don't think luck can make them win the championship for 8 consecutive times even if luck is on their side it also requires enough preparation and practice.

After all, Real Madrid has won 14 Champions League trophies, which for me has proven that Real Madrid is indeed the best team. Regardless of
whether Real Madrid was lucky to beat Liverpool or not, what is certain is that Real Madrid really deserves to win the Champions League trophy.
