Now we are at that stage where the pre-season training will be taking place and teams will be looking to strengthen their squads and inevitably the question will be asked: who will win the 2022/23 Champions League

I think it would be a good move to consider the usual teams to at least cover the semi-final spots because who else can occupy those 4 positions? I have to update the thread with a poll  Grin

Yeah well...  My instincts was telling me to go all in on Liverpool, so I went all in with a very huge 30 dollar bet.  Lmao.  Cheesy  I didn't even look at the stats or the head to head stuff.  I just bet cos I already knew Liverpool was my going to be my pick as long as they weren't going against City.  But then I looked at the head to head and saw that everytime Real and LFC went against each other in the UCL, it usually went Real's way.  I kinda knew my bet was fucked right there and watching Courtois play during the match kinda confirmed it in my head.

TBH. I was a little biased in my picks; I chose Real Madrid not because they impressed me, but because I know they always have that final lucky charm in the Champions League, and I also wanted LiVARpool to lose so badly as a rival fan who enjoys seeing their demise Cheesy. Real Madrid were really cooked and I almost turned off the TV, hoping Hazard would play a small part of the game to inject some creativity was the only reason I kept watching, but he was never brought on; after the goal, they were more focused on defense, so I understand why he was left out.

I was not shocked because I always expected Real Madrid to win but I agree with you that Liverpool will be very disappointed they did not win the game. In the end, Liverpool dominated the game and created more chances and had more shots on target but it all means nothing because they finished as runners-up.

It is difficult to feel sorry for Liverpool for the way they lost the final when they had a much easier route to the final including an easy semi-final with Valencia. Real Madrid had to defeat PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City.

In general, if we judge the tournament after we know the results, then of course there is nothing shocking. Real Madrid once again showed their iron will and the fact that the Champions League is a tournament where they feel like a fish in water. But if you watch the tournament game after game, it's hard not to be shocked by the fact that in every round of the playoffs, Real was an underdog (and sometimes explicit) but eventually beat everyone.
By the way, it's hard to sympathize with Liverpool as they exhausted all their luck in two finals where they won on penalties.

I have no idea what he said but I feel like JollyGood could do the same with my posts seeing what I said and how it all turned out at the final.  Cheesy  I was sooo wrong and I didn't give Real Madrid any credit before the match.  In hindsight the hint was when Real won vs City in the semifinal.  I was just so excited for Liverpool to make it.

Huge credit goes to Courtios...  At the first quarter you just know Real was gonna take Liverpool to deep waters...  Which they did.  :/  Credit goes to Ancelloti too.  It wasn't ideal but it did the job.  Congrats to everybody who made money.

No, football is a cruel sport and betting is about instincts, that's how I see it now, your team did great from the first half I was like "Shit" Real Madrid is about to get cooked as LivARPool were just over the pitch, pressing and attacking at the same time, Real Madrid were dead and I was already losing hope, but in football the moment a team begins to lose chances, there is a problem. Courtios was the only reason Real Madrid won the game; statistically, Liverpool was the better team.

We'll have more tonight. I know this isn't the appropriate thread, but since it's about European football, I'll add a grain of salt. Italy - Argentina.

I believe Liverpool will be very angry because what they expected is not what they saw.Madrid showed them that they are experienced in the season.

In yesterday's final everyone judged and it was clear because Thibaut Courtois Liverpool lost Liverpool had a lot of chances but Courtois was capable and very good at defending his goal.
Real Madrid have a strong mentality and vast experience in the UCL, and in yesterday's game he looked like a weak team against Liverpool. But these are the tactics and strategies used by Real Madrid which prioritize Courtois and a great defense and Real Madrid are just waiting for the right moment to launch a deadly counter-attack and succeed.
and in yesterday's game Liverpool struggled to score and kept trying to score, but they forgot about the defense and were taken advantage of by Real Madrid.

Real madrid experience is no joke, they won the cup with this experience, I'm still confused about it, but this experience is completely real. Liverpool wasn't too bad in the match, they actually came very close to the goal, but they could not score a goal. Real-Madrid won the match with their tactical game. Liverpool should have done much better with this squad.

Yes, it will be sad enough for Liverpool fans if Selah and Manya leave the club at the same time. Still, it can be said that they made the greatest contribution to the club's entry into the Champions League final. However, I don't think that the departure of both players will be a disaster for the club, but it may reduce the power that Klopp has in the formation of the squad. As for Salah, it is really strange that the parties cannot agree until the end of the season itself, although Salah himself seems to have curled that he is not going to leave Liverpool.
Salah stated he will not leave in the 2022/23 season.

I don’t know why people think Mane is selfish, because he gave it all for the club and the club should have offered him high wages for him to stay, because he deserves it but they decided against it hence he’s justified in leaving the club. Also Salah is staying at least for this season, but if he leaves next season then it’ll be interesting to see who his replacement will be.
Nobody said they thought Mane was selfish. The argument between Salah and Mane allegedly took place because Mane accused Salah of being selfish by not passing him the ball when he had better opportunities to score by being in better positions. Instead Salah took shots himself and missed which allegedly created friction between them.

I disagree with some of your points. Mane and Salah only won one champions league together at LiVARpool, so saying they made one of the greatest contributions to LiVARpool's European football is incorrect; LiVARpool were already the most successful English club in the champions league prior to the Mane-Salah era. I would have agreed if you said they gave LivARpool their first EPL trophy.

However, I don't think that the departure of both players will be a disaster for the club, but it may reduce the power that Klopp has in the formation of the squad. Yes, no player is bigger than a club, but losing two of your best players without a proper replacement will have a significant impact on the team, especially if the team is built around those players. Additionally, Salah has not stated anything about his future, but if both parties fail to agree on something this summer, Salah will walk alone next summer.

Yes, no doubt, but looking at his goal stats at LiVARpool, Salah was taking all the headlines, after Mane won the AFCON, none of his teammates congratulated him online because of Salah, which to me was very wrong, before the start of the recently concluded season, he had a clash with Salah for being so selfish in games, the matter was resolved by the manager, but I don't think he's leaving because of all this, he's 30 he's leaving for a better pay rise somewhere. Wish Chelsea could get him he's a great player.
Mane joined Liverpool when he was 24 and has had a good career there. He is 30 years old now and has been losing Champions League finalist twice and Champions League winner once. He has also won the Premier League once as well as several domestic cups. I think he does not have anything to prove to anybody because he did it all and he deserves to play in a different league where he could finish his career with a good wage and new challenge.
That's the new trend among players nowadays, they're selfish and just want to get everything for themselves, now is the best time to sell him because it's obvious he'll leave for free next season, but losing Mane and Salah in a single summer will ruin LiVARpool for a long time and I don't see it happening.
Yes losing Mane and Salah would have created problems for Klopp because he simply does not have a replacement for either. Mane will be sold for around £30 million and that is too high for a 30 year old but some clubs will pay it.
Salah will walk for free in to the arms of a big club that will pay him a large signing-on fee near the £5 million mark and pay him well over £250,000 a week. If you were Mane and were getting half of what Salah was getting at Liverpool you would want to leave too. I think Mane should have stayed and saw his contract out before leaving on a free transfer too. I imagine Liverpool losing Mane and Salah in the same season would be too much for the fans therefore they will cash in on Mane now and allow Salah to go for free next season. The image below is from February 2021 but the salaries are current:

Lewandowski announces his departure from Bayern Munich after referring to the club as "unserious," but what happened behind the scenes? Could it be that the club refused to extend his contract, or that the club has failed to make a mark in the championship league since the last time they won it? Tolisso is also leaving for nothing, so this will be an interesting transfer window. I can't wait to see him play in a decent league; he's spent his entire career in the Bundesliga; it's time to write a new chapter; Barcelona is his preferred option, as far as I know.

Chelsea's takeover is now complete, so it's time to fill some open spots in the team now that we're sanction-free.

If he stays until he's 31, his value will decrease and not every club will want to offer a good wage to a 31 year old player, 30 is a decent year to move and this is the best time, Bayern is already the frontrunner to get him but personal terms have not been agreed upon yet, Juventus is also interested in services, let's wait and see what happens when the marker official open in a few days time..

Pay is ridiculous!!! Looks like aid table team wages; I'm sure Everton and Leicester City pay more than Liverpool. Origi makes £49k per week? Now I see why he's leaving at the end of the season as well: pay these players well before oil-rich clubs come knocking. They have made a lot of money to this club.

With Mane leaving having played his final game for Liverpool, it will be a massive loss for them. I am not sure who they can buy to replace him and losing him will upset the balance of the team. Liverpool will be a weaker team without him.

Most Liverpool fans are happy Salah said he will be staying for the start of next season but his contract expires at the end of next season and the only reason he is staying for another season is because he will leave on a free transfer and receive a multi-million pound signing on fee when goes to a club such as PSG, Barcelona or Real Madrid.

It is understandable you call them LiVARpool because throughout so much of the season they had VAR decision in their favour when some of those decisions were clearly wrong.
No doubt!!!

It is understandable you call them LiVARpool because throughout so much of the season they had VAR decision in their favour when some of those decisions were clearly wrong.

Well Liverpool fell well short of a performance that should or could have won them the Champions League. They had opportunities to take revenge but they did not gel, they did not perform, they failed to take their chances because Courtois was in great form and played average.

They had the game under control in the first half but failed to capitalize on opportunities. Real Madrid were outplayed throughout the game, no doubt about it, but they also have a funny way of getting results their way when you least expect it, they had only one shot at goal, LiVARpool had about 14. Courtois won the trophy for Real Madrid; without him, the team would have conceded 5 goals.

What is there to be sad about as far as Liverpool are concerned. They won two domestic cups and came runners-up in the Premier League and the Champions League. It is a good season for any team to get that far.
Caraboa cup = $100k, FA cup =£3.2M,  and £16m  from champions league silver medal, while Chelsea gains approximately £25 million from Liverpool's failure to win the champions league. They made nothing this season financially. Realistically, Chelsea had a better season than Liverpool. With two trophies, and 3rd position.

Mane has officially announced that he will leave LiVARpool at the end of the season, and we are now waiting for Salah to make a decision about his LiVARpool future. Do you know that Mane only makes £100k/week? Some Chelsea Academy players earn that much as well. He is deserving of better.
