English is not my main language, however a necessity today in my opinion. Actually I do speak 3 language and keep learning a new one. I do thing it has big impact on your mind and how you think about different cultures. I encourage everybody to learn other languages and use it abroud for a positive impact.

Wow, plenty of non-native speakers here too. Yeah, English is not my first language and in my country, it's usually the 3rd or 4th language for most people (it was my 2nd since I grew up in the capital). I'm not planning to spend time studying but should I try to learn a new language it's gonna be Spanish and/or Arabic. I'm a practical person, those two languages have the widest reach aside from English.

My first languange is Bahasa. I'm from Indonesia. My second language is English, but i can also speak local language such as javanese. I love learning language from different places. As for me, learning language from other country is like learning their culture. It's fun and challenging.

The official language is English, the former colonial language, was chosen to facilitate the cultural and linguistic unity of the country. I am not good at learning new languages.

English is not my native language. I can speak English but not too well, I still need more practice. It's good to learn different languages most especially if you love to travel internationally. There would be no language barrier at all.   Most BPO companies prefer applicants who can speak foreign language such as Japanese and Spanish so it would be beneficial as well to job seekers.

Many of us can speak English. Is English your native language or not? If not what is your native language? Are you interested in learning any other languages? What are they and why?

No, it was my first language but definitely not my native language. I grew up with English speaker but not English people. We are all Asians but we use English as out first language. My family do believe that english is our universal language and it is important to learn it because it is a helpful tool in the future and even an advantage today.

This is my native language. I've thought about Spanish as it's the second most prevalent, and been interested in perhaps Mandarin, but tbh i don't really have a use case for them and it would be a lot of time spent for naught (i would just forget them etc.)

English seems to be the most useful language to know in the world which explains why a second language is almost never learned; in other words being a polyglot it is optional, and not mandatory.
