idiot of the day is here

I just built my first rig today and placed the motherboard on top of a conductive stainless shelf.. tried to power on for like an hour wondering what the hell is wrong with my build.. It was powering on and off at one point too... Eventually figured out and got it working but how bad is this? lol System is running fine but I am wondering if I made any damage to the board. This is like the dumbest thing ever smh
Are there any burnt components or places? Power it up and you will see if it's working.

Phillip, is windows able to run off that usb drive over a ssd? just curious

not sure you may need  a 64gb

but  your mobo pick looks okay.

do your self a favor and get the pentium g4400t

I understand you may not want to run linux from nvOC but the   pentium g4400t will save you a lot of power over the celery g3930cpu

https://ark.intel.com/products/90614/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G4400T-3M-Cache-2_90-GHz

35 watts max

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/processors/celeron/g3930.html

51 watts max   that is 16 watts on paper but the truth is it is more like 20-21 watts less power

so about 500 watts a day  or a chat in 2 days or 182 kwatts a year at 10 cents 18.20 a year in power..

plus it will resell well

Thanks on the recommendation bud, i didnt order cpu/ram/mobo yet still looking for options in regards to those T series cpu's.. but i did order a 64gb usb drive off amazon $16.99 tonight with credit card points to try and test using its as boot drive for windows 10, my 3rd gpu rig is an old xeon dell workstation that has a 750gb 4800rpm drive i bought refurbished for $100, ima test it out on that thing since its takes ages for the hard drive to respond.. but it has been running rock solid for 2 days with 4 gtx1080ti's running off it on risers mining away... im curious if the usb drive would speed anything up on it running windows 10 or maybe even increase hashrates possibly, seriously doubt it.. but if the windows side of it works ima use that on future builds.. just thinking about it, it should work... my media pc in my bedroom hooked to my tv is a raspberry pi with sd card lol that works perfectly

FYI, dont make the same mistake as me.. dont use older gen XEON processors with mining, my my E5506 cpu in my latest mining rig is consuming 73 watts while running the mining software

yeah. i am switching to "t" suffix processors in miners now. like i5 6400t. "t" is the low power version of the processor, 35 watts vs 65 watts tdp.

considering most miner cpus run at near idle the power draw is even lower.

it is a very good mining cpu runs on z170 and on z270 boards.

used ones on eBay as low as 114 dollars

I can mine on Nicehash using ewbf just as a launcher?

Somewhere on the Nicehash website they list the urls and ports and such for their various pools.

You can't mine ZEC specifically, though, you mine the algo and then their pool bounces your miners around where needed.

I have run my A2 Scrypt farm that way at times in the past.

I just did an interesting number estimate - ETH added about 30,000 GH/s of network hashrate over the last 3 months - that's a bit over 10 MILLION RX 480/580 cards (it's actually going to be more cards than that since there are a lot of RX 470/570 cards in there that don't do 30 Mh/s and not all that many 480/580 that do, though there probably are a few folks doing silly things like using a 1080 or 1080ti that can do a bit over, and likely a few of the Fury-based duo boards that do quite a bit over).

3.3+ MILLION cards sold to miners each of the last 3 months just for ETH, as a probably conservative estimate.
No WONDER the 570/580 are in short supply.

As long as ETH profitability stays anywhere near it's current ballpark, AMD is going to be selling every card they can make at a significant markup to MSRP....

For perspective, ZEC total network hashrate can be generated by something like *1* million GTX 1070, as I recall - and I suspect all non-ETH GPU-mineable cards combined might only need 2-3 million GPUs to cover their current network hashrate.

Has anyone tried the beta that smos put out yet? Am flashing drive now to give it a shot, just wondering if anyone else has tried it yet. Will let ya know how it goes for me.  Wink

6 x Zotac 1070 Mini, 154.xx MH, about 25.xx MH per card, 100 core/PL - no OC settings yet as Tytanick is still working on it.

Promising because it only draws 650-660watts of the wall but.... compared to Windows10, 30.xx MH per card, 181MH total but draws almost 850-950 watts.

meanwhile, this Auros beast is locked and loaded but waiting for server PSU = agony

if those vega prices are correct...  i can tell you would wont be getting one! this guy wont be!!
1200$ for a gpu pfft

i dont' give a fuck how much it cost. I'll pay 1200$ if it gave me 1200 MH/s

IDGAF if it's 120,000$ for 1 card if it have me 100k MH/s

Send it my way, you can move to the back of the line.

I dont own any, but someone on another forum post stated that the zotec 1080ti mini is a awesome card on the non-memory intensive algo's.... like skein, but something like eth it is on par with the numbers of a 1070 overclocked...

I am planning to use them for Zcash/Skein. Is Zpool Skein issue back to normal?
I look at site and it shows the following stats.

[24 Hours Actual]
0.00366mBTC @ USD0.04026 per GH?

Doesn't seems to be right. Am I reading it right?

How are those Zotac 1080 Ti Minis doing on Zcash/Skein?
Over at my place, they are about 14% cheaper. I am really considering them over Amp Extreme editions.
