Yes with the 850 watt rosewill quark not the 750 watt psu's unit pulls about 630 watts at the k-watt meter doining 3.1 to 3.3 gh for skein

and 1 riser the biostar z170 expands to 3x 1080 ti's and 1 1070 .

Best bang for the buck so very hard to determine .

I got the msi aero 1080 ti's at 597 not 699

So price has meaning.
I will sell all the 1080ti's here as my profit model has me selling cards at good discounts due to what I earned in coins on them.

this size rig with a smaller psu has value to me note this is the one with the short gigabyte 1070

My "new build" that I've got the parts for but haven't had the time to get to (moving is PAINFULL when you get to my age with as much stuff as I have to move) will use a minor varient on Phil's Gigabyte - the D vs the HD

Only differences seem to be "2 PS/2 type connectors" vs 1 + 2 USB, and my board has a D-Sub VGA port Phil's doesn't have.

I suspect they will work the same.

4 picos off 1 psu . I guess that could work.

next question what else does that psu do?

there are breakout boards for the ibm 2880 or 2980 they have 20 pcie cables

The spacing on your Biostar Z170 boards is such you could probably get away with an Aorus as the slot 1 card (or that MSI "2.5" slot 1080ti since you seem to prefer MSI as a general rule).

cvsea - only way I'd consider adopting you is if you were a pretty gal. Sorry.

You guys are getting ridiculous prices as far as us europeans are concerned. Over here you can't even touch a 1080 ti without at least $850 not to mention other vital components like a good mobo.

Might consider getting back to the US. Any of you want to adopt a 30 year old? Cheesy

On another note, is it me or is skein ridiculously profitable right now? My one 1080 ti is about $2 shy in earnings/day than a 4 x amd rig. DGB price climbing as we speak.

They don't exist on any board with only 3x PCI-E slots - I've been looking for a couple YEARS now.

I think I remember seeing *ONE* 4-slot board that could achieve that spacing, but it has been out of production for a while - really old Intel chipset IIRC.

Quite a few 5-slot boards can achieve that spacing, but they start at "expen$ive" and go up from there.

The 3-slot layout like Phil's Gigabyte motherboard is COMMON in both AMD and Intel, and can be commonly found in the $100 range or under with some digging, though sometimes you have to go with a "on sale" board to get there.

I prefer the Gigabyte "ITX" 1070 for the 3'd slot from having used a few of them, but Phil's MSI "super short" is the same length and should be just as good at letting the middle card stay cool - it didn't exist when I built my first pair of 3 card rigs with the Gigabyte, and by then I was in the habit of using it.

At the 850 watt level my go-to power supply is the Seasonic X-850 but they appear to be out of production and availability is getting spotty. My second choice would be the EVGA G2 850 but it also is going or gone out of production....

in the winter I ran 6 mobos with 24 cards but they ran hot. about 7200 sols for zec and the panda miner did 2200 = 9400 sols 22 amps of 240 volts = 5280 watts.

I now do 10 amps x 240 = 2400 watts and this would be 8000 sols I have to stay low watts for summer.

is that due to heat?

I could not run 5 2 card no riser computers in a room, what I had to do was stack them up against the window and have the GPU's blow out the window. It literally fills the window sill from top to bottom - my neighbors have already come by asking me wtf am i doing lol.

They know I'm up to no good - I had 50 Time Warner Cable ISP connections at my house, 50 wifi routers on 50 different cable modems and lines, and it knocked all the wifi from a 3 house radius out - nobody that lived 3 houses in any direction from me could get a signal. That went on for 3 years. They're still upset, but don't 100% know it was me.
