Just like China. France can create their own version of crypto currency but big possibility it is centralized. No one can hate blockchain but admire it. Governments will adopt it but we do not know what kind of version is it.
It will be a trend in many countries, to implement their own token. We just don't know the real purpose but they will intend to do it to monitor atleast some crypto users or for them to limit their people in using other cryptocurrency since they will be require to do it in their centralised system. Will see whose going to follow after this.

I wish we had a clear definition of what Cryptocurrency is or what qualifies a cryptocurrency.
I think a clear standard will help people recognize what is real or fake. Unfortunately, we have no such standards hence anything goes. If the community grades cryptocurrencies based on agreed standards, fake cryptocurrencies will have no place in this space. They will struggle to survive. People who promote them will be ostracized or isolated.

Well, Government owned "cryptocurrency" will likely not be immutable, decentralized, transparent, censorship resistant, deflationary, limited in supply, permissionless, trustless, etc . These are important features of true cryptocurrency.

well, it seems like France will also launch their own cryptocurrency next year. it's funny that just year ago they despise cryptocurrency(article about it) and now they are launching their own cryptocurrency
and even teaching high school students about cryptocurrency(article about it) and preparing them for it. how things have changed in just a year Cheesy Cheesy

There are so many things that have change and will change because of adoption, China is one example, another one is Facebook we all know that these starts as against Cryptocurrency, but now they are creating their own coin, because they have seen the opportunity behind these technologies, and they want to take this opportunities.

some countries see bitcoin from the technology behind it, so maybe they would prefer to adopt it themselves. if many countries adopt blockchain technology, the development of digital currency will develop a lot, and may have a positive impact on crypto, even though competition will be more numerous

From that statement, then France truly has understood the "essence of cryptocurrencies"? Please answer, what is the "essence of cryptocurrencies"?
I just said it. It’s a digital currency Shocked. Tell me what bitcoin solved when utilizing digital currencies? What does other “virtual currency” that bitcoin has? Why did suddenly banks thought that it’s possible to do digital cash now and possibly create their own?

I didn't say something was wrong. PayPal wants to improve the financial system too, I don't hate PayPal. Cool
So you hate central banks then? Huh

one year is alot of time so its expected that people can change mind within that time span  and not just this country but other countries were simillar to this where they ban cryptos and unban it after some time but some of thier are worster because they are just repeating the same cycle ( ban , unban , ban , unban )  i dont know what is with thier minds  . why can they just unban cryptos and leave it there  ?  that would be more interesting to see cryptos grow than seeing the news about this  .

China was like that, in 2017 it took measures to ban cryptocurrency. And until recently, they announced that they would accept cryptocurrencies and intend to issue cryptocurrencies to their countries. I am confident that in the next few years this market will grow strongly

I feel right now that we are entering a new ear of digitalazation, last year we saw that many countries have  started regulating the use and the exchnage of cryptocurencies and bitcoin, just because they had no control over its network and they saw its potential and what it was capable of doing, and today we see many of them like France, China and Germany preaparing to create their own cryptocurrency which is going to be centrelzed, and i am pretty sure that other governments will do the same as well in the near future, and sooner than we know it the whole finincial system and fiat will be replaced by cryptocurrency that are made by governements.

actually there is nothing new in this kind of changing sides.

like china's stand in past and now they are standing towards this, and many more that i already forgot.

what is important with this action is the adoption they are doing that will bring positive to crypto world.specially in EU part that we knew is starting their way towards crypto.

It will not bring anything positive to Bitcoin. France will only be developing a type digital fiat with a centralized ledger.

Is this the norm now! Countries are creating their own cryptocurrency this days, am wondering how this is going to benefit the crypto space, at least, this government of this country's are recognizing the importance of digital currency,  if this is a good thing i hope other countries will emulate them.

It's not going to benefit the cryptocurrency space. They are creating these coins in order to adopt one of bitcoin's benefits (ease of payment across the internet with lowish fees) in order to kill bitcoin. Their thinking is that if you can get bitcoin's benefits from an official coin, why would anyone use bitcoin.

It seems like this incident is the same as in China in the previous year where their government really hates digital currency and but recently their government has announced that they will launch their own digital currency that works with blockchain technology, sometimes I also confused actually why some of their governments are so worried about cryptocurrency that they hate it and I'm sure in the future the government cannot avoid adopting bitcoin.

launching their crypto will help their society, maybe it cant help their economic, own crypto better if they have stable value, so it just help to do something with other crypto, make easy user to buy or sell, also introduce something new to people that dont know about it. it can be advantage for it country

On the other hand, it's really amazing and happy to hear that another country is going to launch their own cryptocurrency, it will be really amazing and another crypto adoption and users will enter the crypto the market, and imaging what will happen a year after they launch their own crypto, then we will have more users and it might happen the each country will also adopt this changes.

France has NOT finally understood "the essence" of cryptocurrencies? Do you actually believe that?
When you say it that way, it makes me feel like it's wrong to say that but it's not true. Isn't cryptocurrencies a digital currency?

From that statement, then France truly has understood the "essence of cryptocurrencies"? Please answer, what is the "essence of cryptocurrencies"?

But what separates the crypto that France is planning to do from other cryptocurrencies is that it's going to be started by their central bank, the CBDC. [1] What's wrong with doing their goal? Improving the financial system? [2]

We should understand that this is an economic war. And in this war, victory will belong to the person who acts exactly. Not long ago, China announced that it would develop its cryptocurrency. It is a bold move! I think they understand the importance of cryptocurrencies. However, the nature of each cryptocurrency is different, it can be discreet or transparent. In short, I think France will take action.

I think they are constantly investigating Blockchain, even if the states do not officially announce it. Of course it's not strange that they don't officially announce it. If they're not investigating the blockchain, I think they're doing it wrong. France and Germany are both partners and commercial strife. Bitcoin against the US offers an alternative economy.

Most probably the influence of cryptocurrency like positive news that brought them up with this decision, and now they're thinking more developments towards handling at their own digital currency. However it's not that easy to venture from traditional way to virtual type of money. Of course they should educate their people, especially the elder ones because it needs a lot of adjustments. Bitcoin is the only way for them to feed up knowledge, prior the implementation takes place.
