As you can see, it is possible for a country who first dislike and disapprove on cryptocurrencies to change their minds and realize the need of cryptocurrency. Now that France, also other country who see crypto like this before but now trying to adopt it, it's also possible for other country. It's becoming more vivid that more countries will slowly accept bitcoin and other coins.

well, it seems like France will also launch their own cryptocurrency next year. it's funny that just year ago they despise cryptocurrency(article about it) and now they are launching their own cryptocurrency
and even teaching high school students about cryptocurrency(article about it) and preparing them for it. how things have changed in just a year Cheesy Cheesy

However France crypto may be a epic failure too because in the end of the day it’s a centralised crypto, and not a decentralised one like bitcoin.

We must advocate this fact that anything that is not decentralized, distributed and censorship-free doesn't belong to the domain of cryptocurrency. XRP is also not a cryptocurrency since its centralized.
The only reason for launching such centralized cryptocurrency is to divert people's attention towards them and discourage use of real cryptocurrency.

France has NOT finally understood "the essence" of cryptocurrencies? Do you actually believe that?
When you say it that way, it makes me feel like it's wrong to say that but it's not true. Isn't cryptocurrencies a digital currency? But what separates the crypto that France is planning to do from other cryptocurrencies is that it's going to be started by their central bank, the CBDC. [1] What's wrong with doing their goal? Improving the financial system? [2]

The earlier France launches their cryptocurrency the better its no longer news that some European countries had started getting interest in cryptocurrency having weigh it usefulness, I believed France must have seen some genuine reason why it's need it's own coin  after adopting it obviously their economy might improve and this would give some their cryptos enthusiasts more options in dealing with Fiat and cryptos.
this is one good development, a country adopts crypto independently. might have an impact on the territory of the country, and might also bring in new users. if it can really be realized there will be many good impacts, especially in the country, plus they also develop education in crypto technology

That's a interesting development. France is part of the euro (which is a currency shared across 19 countries). If it is developing it's own digital currency on it's own, then we may be looking at them building the infrastructure for them to exit the euro and go back to the franc (or a digital franc).

This is a welcome in the right direction. Seeing one of the world famous country pick interest in cryptocurrency,  indicates the value of the project. Going from criticism to government acceptance. This will lead to more adoption, despite that full anornimity of transactions is not guaranteed.
This development will also encourage other countries who rely on the development strategy of France for their economy advancement to join the digital currency train.

France is not interested in cryptocurrencies, there's no acceptance. Do your research on what actually true cryptocurrencies are.

There can always be a change in your heart with anyone. Maybe France has finally understood the essence of cryptocurrencies, but what I don't get is why make their own? They are currently going to test the currency until the end of the first quarter, according to the tweet of Rhythm Trader [1]. If they become successful, they would be copied by multiple governments, and the start of the cryptocurrency revolution is happening. I hope they would let people understand the importance of Bitcoin in all of this. A lot could happen in the future, and we have to be ready.

I'm sure there will be a day when a country or a major bank announces its own blockchain-backed cryptoasset. The blockchain as a technology is already so popular for database security that only time will tell =)
Absolutely. The adoption we are seeing right now is the start of what we are dreaming for our society. Blockchain technology is taking over almost in all of the industry from financial to medical which totally tell people how great it is.

France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom are next to Malta which is essentially cryptocurrency island so I think we could see an "Euro Crypto" or something similar to it one day. I think it would actually reduce crime because everything asset and transaction is automatically tracked and accounted for. I am excited to see how our global economic system develops thanks to the invention of the blockchain.
It isn't surprising at all, when I saw the article about how did the Germany adopted the cryptocurrency offering the use of it as an investment to their citizen. I knew it was the beginning to the european country to fight their negative interest rates. I'm just curious how these said country, government will handle things like this especially it involves unprecedented problems.

This news is indeed both a shock and excitement, especially to Cryptocurrency users. I think French's government really underwent through a thorough study and investigation on Cryptocurrency's advantages and disadvantages. It is a good thing they are very brave to experiment if Cryptocurrency will be effective. Though it is decentralized, and the first article mentioned that France will ban Bitcoin because it can be used to shift taxes and for money laundering activities.

And because of this adoption, French students are taught just as mentioned in the third article. I think this is very helpful since young generation are more critical thinkers and who knows, maybe one of them could lead to Cryptocurrency's success if ever, in the near future.

Overall, I hope that this would be the start of an open-minded community. However, the cons is that it might spark money related acts punishable by law. And that discipline might be hard to instill among people.

Weve heard this time and time again. Such news are usually propagated more by BTC friendly news websites. I'd be very surprised if an EU state issued official statements regarding issuing ANY currency, let alone a cryptocurrency...

The EU stands for a commitment of countries to abolish their central banks in favor of a more centralized system. The EURO has been fairing well in terms of FIAT standards. I'm very doubtful that France, being the seond largest economy in EU, would break that commitment.

in the past, many countries are against crypto some of them ban it and some make a regulation to stop Crypto
it just good that they try to stop it for them to learn that it is impossible to stop crypto
maybe they also realized that crypto is the new technology
if they can use it right crypto can also help their economy to rise.

I don't think they consider it cryptocurrency, but rather a digital currency.

Everyone laughed, but they didn't take notice of the difference.

Quote

It's unit might be different in their fiat, but the core value of it would still depend on it.

The same fiat, but instead of debit cards and saving accounts, users will have "wallet apps". "Digital-fiat".

Plus much are already transacted digitally without physical cash exchanging hands.

Quote

According to the article, they 'decisively' make it different from a cryptocurrency. This means that blockchain might not be implemented, and as well as its transparency.

It will be a centralized ledger powered by "blockchain technology". Roll Eyes

Quote

It might still be run on centralized servers and is monitored by central banks.

It will!

France is not the first or the last country to launch own cryptocurrency. Countries are experimenting with cryptocurrencies for a long time now to see what are their possibilities and opportunities. This will not bring any kind of revolution and I doubt that it will be successful but I don't think that matters. Like I said, it's about experimenting.

Last month, it was reported that France to Include Bitcoin Literacy in High School Curriculum. So perhaps they've realized the crypto will be big in the future that's why they have tested the waters and decided to launch their own crypto. Maybe some hidden agenda like huge tax, or spy people around on how they're going to used state back up crypto. Anyways, we haven't seen any crypto being back up by government being successful, maybe it's too early or people doesn't want centralized coin. So let's see how they're going to manage it and see how French crypto enthusiast are going to react.

What is funny is how you people don't understand a thing about cryptos and what is a centralized coin!
That French official dispised decentralized cryptocurrencies, what France though the Bank of France is launching is totally centralized crypto that will work only for financial institutions.

@acroman08 if France can successfully launch it’s centralised crypto then they’ll be forced to admit that Bitcoins is money and they may even consider legalising it.

And why? Just because it's using a blockchain?
You realized that if that is the only reason they would have to consider howeycoins money too?

It's not just France. There are a lot of countries who are planning the same! China, India and other BRICS  countries are also planning for it. But this doesn't change the economy for better because these are just a digital representation of the government controlled fiat currency. Earlier you used to have cash in your wallet and now you are going to carry it on your mobile wallet! That's it! Nothing drastically different!
I know there are other countries that are launching their own cryptocurrency that's why I used the word "also" but my main point is how the country's government view to cryptocurrency changed from hating it and almost banning it to creating their own cryptocurrency and even teaching the younger generation about it.
