One of the clubs that will play in the Europa League and face Juventus will play this week by hosting Lyon. This can be considered as a warm-up event for them to be able to improve their performance before undergoing matches in the European League. Many boast that they have underestimated them, yes I have to say honestly that I myself am not sure that Nantes will be able to make a surprise in that match.
They have to silence the people who belittled them by winning the match, even though it is very difficult, if with hard work and luck it is not impossible we will see things that look impossible later.

PSG are going to have a pretty tight fixture as of their game on January 29. They are going to have four Ligue 1 games with short intervals. They have a game against Monaco away only two days before their Bayern Munich game in the Champions League also. I wonder how strong PSG will be able to leave this time period. They will need to get past this with the minimum loss of points in the league. Otherwise they are under the threat of being left behind by Lens in the standings.

That Monaco game could also be really difficult for them. Because they won't have a time to rest after that game so they would prefer to rest their attacking trio I guess. This could really cause them to lose points there because Monaco aren't one of the bad teams now.

the results of many France Cup matches are satisfactory, I saw Lille, Lorient and Toulouse win by more than 1 goal. but the most attention were Toulouse with their 7 goals and Lorient with their 6 goals. Hopefully in Ligue 1 these two teams can maintain their quality when facing their opponents in the France Cup today.
In current round we have few upsets as mostly good teams done job and win their respective matches without any doubt, but still few top teams suffered like Monaco lost their match even once they were leading by 2 - 0 and Nice also lost his match which was against a lower rank team with Clermont another victim of this round in France Cup round matches.

But, now in next round of 32, we have few good matches which are going to play between top teams on 22nd January which will give good entertainment to soccer fans in France now in Ligue 1 we are having 18th round matches on 11th January which are also going to be interested as we have few good teams are chasing PSG for the title race after Lens beats them in their last 17th round match.

as the ligue 1 club racing strasbourg announced today, Julien Stephan was sacked with immediate effect, interim takes over the current co-coach Mathieur Le Scornet the team. strasbourg is currently penultimate in the french ligue 1 and was also eliminated from the national cup on last friday.
it's the right decision, strasbourg hasn't been performing well since the season started but I wonder what actually made the decline in quality for strasbourg because last season Stephen was able to make strasbourg finish in the top 10

I hope the new Strasbourg coach can bring Strasbourg out of the relegation zone and finish in the top 10 again this season
Strasbourg was having good last season, and now they are in relegation zone due to having just one win from 17 matches which is surely one of the worst from them and things are not looking good for them in coming weeks as well because now in 18th round they are going to face Lens which is currently at the second spot and just defeat PSG, so their confidence level is high, and they can manage good win here as well which will give more set back to Strasbourg which is looking better performance under new coach.

With most chances we will have no good change in relegation zone as most of the teams are going to fight against big teams which will punish them, and they have to stay here in this jail for some more weeks, but surely things could be change they will be able to improve their quality and performance level as well.

Indeed, in this match Lens is very favored, I also have the same belief that Lens will win against Strasbourg. But on the other hand, let's forget about the second H2H for a moment, Strasbourg also doesn't want to lose because they are currently in the relegation zone and don't want to go down to ligue 2.
The problem is how they win. Mentally at this time they lost, from a club perspective they also lost and from a players point of view it is clear that at this time they can still be said to have lost.
It's hard for Strasbourg now.
The advantage they currently have is playing at home and of course this is a bit of moral support for them even though this will not have too much of an impact.
I think these results are already showing for Lens.
It will definitely be a tough match for Strasbourg.  The lens is showing the best performance in recent years.  They also beat psg 3-1 and they are very moral.  If they get a good win in this away game, I don't think there will be anything that can easily stop them.  He gets a smooth win in PSG and the difference of 4 points is maintained this week as well.

There is no doubt that Lens will be able to win this match easily. In my opinion, their opponent is not going to pose too many problems for them, as I do not think that will be the case. Strasbourg is currently ranked at the bottom of the table. Their play isn't encouraging at all, and they aren't doing very well. I think Lens should have an easy time securing three points in this game.

From the performance strasbourg and what they have achieved this season it shows they are weak , their is no way Lens won't achieve  three point. Lens are very good in their game, this is the team I know in the league that able to challenge PSG.  Strasbourg won't be problem to them.

Who will make Strasbourg the favorites in the clash with their second-placed opponents, and they managed to make Paris Saint Germain lose in Ligue 1 this season for the first time. On paper we cannot compare the two teams that will meet this, because they also have nothing in common, namely the prediction that the match will go tough with Strabourg giving resistance to Lens. Lens are in a big advantage in this match for their win.

On paper, Lens will subvert his opponent easily. after all, in terms of ranking, the two teams that will compete have a fairly large gap. Lens is in second place in the standings, while Strasbourg is in second place in the relegation zone. however, when on the field anything can happen, it doesn't even rule out the possibility, if Lens could slip in this fight. the reason is, Strasbourg will play with all their abilities to win the match to increase their ranking to the safe zone. although, actually their opponent is in his best performance.

So far, Strasbourg has only been able to win one game, draw eight, lose eight. however, they do have quite a decent H2H history when they met against Lens. in their last four meetings, Lens was only able to win one match and lost the rest. so, let's see if Lens will continue to progress with its positive trend or Strasbourg will still be able to maintain dominance over the meeting against Lens.

One team with 5 matches without a loss, and the other team without a win. Obviously this is an unequal opponent, so from a realistic point of view Lens will win very easily, unless Strasbourg has a lot of luck in this match, it will make people not believe the result of the match. Lens is on the move and trying to put more pressure on Paris Saint Germain which they managed to beat the previous week, that is a very good achievement for Lens because they can beat a superior team like Paris Saint Germain.

The poor ranking in the temporary standings for Strasbourg is proof that Lens will not be under more pressure on their opponents this time, so Lens sees the match with Strasbourg as an opportunity to take full points again this season while struggling to keep PSG in the standings because of overtaking PSG is a very tough job for any team this season.

in the last few matches that Lens has had, they have been almost unbeatable and they even beat PSG with a score of 3-1 last week. next Lens will face Strasbourg and like you, I also predict that Lens will win smoothly at this match.
It was indeed very clear that Lens would not get such a balanced opponent in the next match. Because when Lens is able to beat PSG with the score you mentioned, then there is a potential that it will be easier for Lens when dealing with Strasbourg because it is a team that is still very weak this season with a very bad ranking.

I don't think there will be many people who want to support Strasbourg to win if the opponent is Lens who has been looking so consistent in his game lately. And I see that this opportunity is a very good day for Lens and vice versa for Strasbourg, because these two teams do not have the same strength and there is nothing in balance to compare these two teams.

This season is quite interesting in terms of the positions except the lead. Lens are fighting with PSG for the league title as the gap has become only four points after PSG's loss against Lens recently. PSG would still dominate the season at some point of course. But for now I'm just enjoying the "title race". Lens have done a good job so far.

I wonder how long Lens can maintain their performance. I don't doubt their ambition but it feels like they can't maintain this until the end of the season. Lille are a good example but Lens might not manage to do a similar work.
It's not really a fight for the top spot if you ask me, it's a temporary closeness and that's it. Lens is not that much better than everyone else, whereas PSG is miles better, they are seriously not even in the same category. Which means that eventually we are going to end up seeing a lot bigger point differences, it's not going to be even close.

All in all it's a reality that PSG is just too good, yeah they had a few weeks when they were tired or they didn't had everyone, but they are now ready and they are going to beat everyone and get that point difference to a higher level. That's just how it is, we have to end up accepting the situation if we want to be fair.

Seems I'm going to try pay attention to some of the picks here as I failed miserably in my Coupe matches yesterday. I know cups are never quite the same situation as league games because of different stakes, but usually in France you feel that the favorites are way too strong for lower leagues (and yet upsets happen all the time).
We always have the feeling that a team playing in a superior league is always better than a team playing in a lower one until we see the opposite result happening. It will be more shocking when a top team in the first league is defeated by unknown one!
Clermont, Nice, Monaco failed that way Lips sealed

For some reason, when it comes to a league that is not the favorite league in their country, the big teams always fail there, even though, even though we have never heard of such a team, we ourselves have never heard of that team. Not only in France, in England, Spain also shows the same thing. One reason that makes sense is that they didn't take the game seriously, because if I looked for other reasons I couldn't find one that suited the result myself.

I find Monaco's winning odd lower than I expected for the Lorient match - 1.89. I'd prefer to bet on both teams to score @1.62 instead of trusting Monaco to be honest.

Because these teams are quite close to each other in the standings. There is only a two-point gap between these teams. Monaco have an advantage actually because they are the second best away team in the league now. They lost only once so far. Lorient are one of the unexpectedly good teams of this season. But Monaco still have the strength to defeat them here. But even if they do so I will be expecting a small margin like 1-0 or 2-1.

Strasbourg this season is very weak, at the opposite of Lens, where it plays good football. I doubt Strasbourg could win them, their best hope is to get a draw imo.
In the French Cup matches, I saw Ligue 1 teams losing vs weaker team in Ligue 2 or maybe worse
Nothing to be expected from strasbourg this season. It has placed at the bottom and there's no reason for strasbourg to leave from the relegation zone. that's almost impossible to happen with strasbourg. The same thing happened with angers too. Lens is starting to be very consistent right now and it can't be compared with strasbourg. Strasbourg was also losing from angers recently even rangers placed below strasbourg. The worst team in french league. I think that both must be relegated to the league 2.

Against Strasbourg, Lens should have no problem winning the game easily. This is literally the second-ranked team on the table, taking on the team that is at the bottom of the table. As far as I am concerned, I don't expect any kind of surprises in this match. After this match Lens should be able to get closer to PSG in terms of points. There is no doubt that Strasbourg is the worst team in Ligue 1 at the moment. In terms of wins, they have the lowest number. There is no doubt that they deserve to be relegated this season.

I see the possibility of Lens winning this match. Although they did not perform very well in the previous matches. Their style of play is not consistent, but expect them to perform well against their opponents in the next match. Because if the next match is defeated, there will be many obstacles for them to move forward.

I think this head to head doesn't really matter now.
The reason is quite clear because Strasbourg this season and last season are very different and Lens is the same. They are like 2 clubs with a real difference in conditions at the moment. Last season in the 2 meetings that took place Strasbourg might indeed be very favored but for now with the condition of their performance and the current weakness of their defense I think this head to head has no impact whatsoever for Lens who is currently in high confidence.

Indeed, in this match Lens is very favored, I also have the same belief that Lens will win against Strasbourg.
