While there is some conversation about Messi's future at PSG I'd also like to add some information about it.

It is claimed that PSG have already offered a one-year extension to Messi. They want to act quick and do their best to keep Messi in the team. Because since he adapted to PSG's system he has been one of the biggest contributors of the team with not only goals but also assists. PSG don't want to see the trio disbanding by the end of this season. They are already worried about Mbappe's future at the team. If Mbappe and Messi both leaves I assume Neymar also wouldn't like to stay anymore. This would change the destiny of the team completely for certain. 

Marseille could not maintain their slick appearance and had to be knocked out of the top 4. The three defeats they received were consecutive defeats until the last week. It's a shame when they became the favorite team to compete with Paris Saint Germain instead they couldn't play consistently even I saw them getting worse. Indeed, their respective seasons are very long for them to do something, but if they don't improve quickly then their chances will be slimming down.

In fact in the first match when Marseille played at home and lost 0-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt, the result was that Eintracht Frankfurt could win at half time because the goal was created in the 43rd minute. Last two season Champion League most difficult faced by PSG after beating by Real Madrid at 16 round last edition time, seems with impressive performance on group stage and PSG should finish at 1st standing on group stage have chance to get easy team on 16 round. Maybe Marseille are far away from the leader and they won't be able to stay in the title fight most probably. It is already a gap like nine points with PSG in the end.

On the other hand, this doesn't mean of course that they can't even qualify for the Champions League. Big teams have this kind of hard times in some part of a season. Marseille have had this before the first half of the season. As long as they start pulling themselves together soon there is no problem. They still have a long season ahead of them to rise in the standings once again. I still see them as the biggest contender for the second position honestly. Teams like Lorient and Lens wouldn't maintain a good form forever. In addition to that I think Marseille are generally more reliable than the other big teams of the league (except PSG of course  ).

actually, we can review why Marseille lost at home to Frankfurt.

Messi had a first season in PSG very bad but in this season, the second season there, he has started to show his importance. We saw that in matches without Messi, PSG had issues to create opportunities and find goals. With Messi, their attacking system works more smoothly and more unpredictable for opponents. Messi scored more goals in this season but his bigger contribution is from key passes and assists to other players.

I feel that Messi does not want to return to Barcelona after all of bad drama he received years ago and after the recent drama against Pique as well as Busquet. Therefore, if PSG want to resign a new contract with Messi, I believe he will be ready to sign it. I also believe that it would very likely to happen as it will be good for both Messi and PSG. They can resign a new contract which last 2 more years.

Also important, Messi will retire from his national team after the World Cup so that he will fully focus on his club for last years of his career.

Maybe because PSG stand on H group with not has much power like A or C group. but still with any condition, PSG is good so far. PSG is still normal with the squad, we can see their coordination and strategy implement is good, nothing is wrong in the middle of the issue Mbappe can not stand on club. but as we can see in past, they are is always hot in beginning, this is different when they play on ligue 1, on champions league, PSG is not much power when face the club like Madrid or Mancity.

The main reason why Messi can leave PSG is age - his influence is already being felt and even though in Ligue 1 PSG can afford to play not at the maximum/have the optimal composition, in the Champions League it is already too dangerous. The second reason is the salary - Messi receives 41 million a year and this is a significant part of PSG's salary fund. Maybe if Argentina does well in the World Cup, Messi leaves PSG for MLS at the end of the season and thus "leaves at the top" from European football.

I don't think Messi would be interested in staying at PSG if he gets an offer from a better club. Because the performance of PSG players is still not stable. Messi and Neymar both are quality players which can give better results and with this all as many feeling they are going to win Champions League in this season for me, it's not going to happen because with the current situation they can't end in positive way specially when they will be in knock out stage where competition could be more tough, and they have better understanding and maturity for having good results.

Even here we have few other options as well as if current team fail to win then most chances PSG management try to sell this club because they were already fed up with this all and now with current situation these things also can happen without any big trouble.

Suddenly we have the wort time for Marseille as now they are on three matches losing streak in French Ligue1 and drop from second spot to fifth with their performance is good in Champions League after having two early defeats but on other side opponent Frankfurt is also improving performance and quality which is giving them currently good rank in Bundesliga, and they have fair chance against Marseille to win at home and having their chance for going into knock out stage injuries problems are also surely having their impact on performance, but they need to do something special if they want to have their chance alive into Champions League.

Group situation is currently not clear but if today Tottenham won against sporting then surely all other teams could be going to fight for second spot as first could be set for Tottenham, and they have good chance to win this match with their current performance level and today Marseille need to be at their best for having some advantage otherwise they could be ended with empty hands.

If I notice that Marseille is indeed difficult to stay consistent from season to season, because they always end the season in a very different position. As happened in the previous four seasons, where Marseille always got bad results after previously successfully ending the season in second place and playing in the Champions League.
If that happens again this season, then surely Marseille cannot regain a place in the Champions League zone, but it would still be good if Marseille can still finish for the Europa League zone. Due to a worse scenario Marseille cannot end the season for next season's European zone tournament.
