I felt Lyon did underperformed last season and their defense was quite horrible, Lyon did not made any huge transfer in the transfer market and I think they might struggle against AC Ajaccio in their first match for the upcoming new season. Even though Lyon will be having the home advantage when they play against AC Ajaccio but I think there is a chance for this match to ends up with a draw.

Messi is now 35. I don't think he will be fit for a Premier League team at the age of 37 after his contract with PSG ends. The Premier League is highly competitive. And if you want to perform well in the Premier League, you must be fit. Keeping fit at 37 years old is very difficult. I think Messi will extend his contract with PSG or join a Bundesliga team.
Right now, as things are going most chances we will have Messi here at PSG until end of his career or very few chances Barcelona will try to bring him back for his farewell which was not happened in last season when the transfer happened there is no chance for him to go into Premier League or any other league because at the end of this contract he is going to be 37 which is surely age when mostly players decide about their retirement and their body is not also they have at their best on all players can go through like Zlatan Ibrahimović who is giving his best at the age of 40.

Messi is going to be vital for PSG in this season because here management is also doing some good developments which can bring better results for them and this could be vital for all parties in coming days.

.../Q/..,,,In the meantime Sergio Ramos is not having a good time in the club with series of injury and makes him unfit for games. The Spaniard needs more time to get fit since he's just adjusting his space to France pattern of game and he's definitely going to be better defense instrument for Christophe Galtier to make good use of.
Pride made him commit one of the worst mistakes that any player can make at the end of his career, humility, he is a mentally frustrated player, he had never before gone through a break of this magnitude, his wife had to Leaving behind his job and the comfort of living in his native country, for an established soccer player and franchise, is something that has to take its toll.

PSG will never have Sergio Ramos, whom we enjoy seeing play at Real Madrid, well hopefully not... Wink

Sergio Ramos was the most renowned defender in the world in his prime. But now it feels like he is just a shadow of his former self. It feels like in PSG a lot of star players come with a big expectation but in reality, they are unable to perform as well as they should have.

If you look at Lionel Messi and Neymar, you will see that they have also not performed as expected. For some reason, it does appear like PSG is highly responsible for all these things happening. They are just trying to get elite players on the team but they are not thinking about that team chemistry or the chemistry between the players at all. They are not trying to make a balanced team.

That's right, but the case of Ramos has its particular dyes.

In the case of chemistry, very true and I have always believed, keeping the distance in terms of players, the team from the beginning of the century, the Galactics with Luís Figo, Ronaldo (Bra), Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham... I think they are looking for that chemistry but It does not finish arriving, by the way those galactic ones did win titles.

Messi never come to Paris for his family or any other issue this was good offer from PSG, and he was having some issues in Barcelona, so there were on two choices one PSG and second Manchester City, so he has some good incentives from here he joins this club and now as Barcelona is having some good time now they are feeling they want Messi back in their team which is possible in 2023 because we already read Barcelona President announces they will give farewell to this legendary player mean now things are going to be normal, so they want him back in their team for one or two seasons which will give them better exposure if they have their desired results in this current season after investing good money in transfers and having few quality players from different teams.

Even nothing is sure how things could be after this season but most chances if he has no good result at PSG then surely he is going back to Barcelona for his final session in this soccer.
I second that Messi was forced to leave Barcelona and it wasn’t his choice to leave, and Manchester City had already spent $100 million on Grealish hence his only option was PSG. Furthermore Messi will have an option to stay for 2023 season at PSG, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back to Barcelona at a lower salary because we all know how much he loves Barcelona.
I think City deal was never a real deal, not because of Grealish because that was 100 million spent on the transfer, not on the player and Messi came in free, just took a salary and they could have paid him and then sold 2x more than that just on jerseys, probably more. This is why I believe that it should be PSG and he should stay until he retires, and I think if they keep on winning just the league, dude may get bored of it and retire earlier than he should.

This is a hard situation to be in, be with a team for over 20 years and then suddenly you are like a fish out of water when you move to another team specially at that age. Hence I think he will probably not change it again so soon.

Messi transferred to an easy league. The French League is an arena where competition is lower than other European leagues. Messi got his career planning right. He will complete his aging period with more trophies in a more comfortable league. He couldn't have done the same performance so easily in Italy or England.
If Messi had moved to England he might not have had so much trophies as compared to his chances of winning it back to back to back in the french league. but he wouldn't have ended a three years deal in England without lifting the trophy once i am too confident of he would have recreated Barcelona in England that is like a sure deal.
It depends on which club Messi will move to, if he chooses Tottenham or Newcastle he will get nothing. But if Messi moves to Manchester City for a reunion with Guardiola, he can win the title even if he is only on the bench. But Messi will not move anywhere before his contract ends with PSG, he will continue to play and will get titles there. I think Messi will return to Barcelona after his job with PSG is over, he couldn't refuse Xavi offer to help him there. Barcelona has given everything for Messi, it is fitting for Messi to help Barcelona when they need his services.

If Messi had decided to move to England, there was only one team that can could have signed him, and that team is manchester city, messi could not have moved to tottenham or newcastle, they are not clubs of his status. I feel if messi had moved to any league he would have won trophies with the team, because he would surely move to a top team in that league, just as he came to France and signed for psg, if he went to England he would have signed for manchester city, if he went to Italy, he would have signed for Juve, these are teams that win their league titles often, though i will admit it is a little bit easier for psg to win it in France.

Barcelona president has said he thinks messi will return to barcelona one day, and i feel so too, but i don't think it is soon, he may return to barcelona when he is about to retire, so he can play for a year or so with them, and retire with the club he won everything with.

Yeah the main target with signing star players is for the Champions trophy I already realized, unfortunately last season Sergio Ramos rarely played due to injury, but now he will perform optimally under Galtier tutelage hopefully their health is good so they can go smoothly to trophy. Every match will be difficult in the Champions League, when the core squad gets injured.
He is still very much needed now despite his age but indeed when it comes to experience it is clear he has something more than some of the players there.
Sergio will probably still be in the same role as before I think unless Galtier has more fun for this player.
Sergio Ramos is still able to play in Europe's elite competition even though he is not young anymore, his experience while playing for Real Madrid can provide a balance in the PSG defense. Last season he spent a lot of time on the bench due to an injury, now he is ready to help PSG to protect PSG back line from attacks by opposing teams. Galtier can count on him in crucial matches, his presence at the back can provide motivation for PSG's young players, maybe he is not as strong as he used to be, but his experience can help PSG to achieve their goals this season.
This is not an exaggeration for Galtier especially if you see now in some of their pre-season matches Galtier has often played him with a three-back scheme with Marquinhos and Diallo as partners for Sergio.
This is a very good start for him but indeed he also has to be careful because his current age will definitely be a little different for his legs so fitness must be really maintained.

Leo Messi is in pursuit to break Dani Alves prime record as the most decorated player. Once again he have another titles to his gallery and still aiming to get more and the hunger for more titles on his mind. He was the man of the match yesterday against Nantes and did several attacking and possession of the ball. Leo Messi is highly respected and looked up to by most upcoming stars in football and the Argentine is catching up with age. However, I think there's still one last world cup for him to participate in.

Quotes bookmakers to win in Ligue 1 at the moment are as follows:

Paris Saint Germain 1.10

Olympique Marseille 13.30

Lyon 14.10

Monaco 17.80

Is anyone interested in freezing their money for almost 10 months for a 10% return?  Grin It sounds cool for a bank deposit, but there are small risks here, so I would not do it. It is much easier to bet on PSG to win in individual games and increase the bet if they lose. It is unlikely that the losing/draw streak will be more than 3.

The risk involved is much compared to the profit you make if you bet on PSG to win the league. No one knows if Paris Saint-German is going to win the French league 1 back to back again or if we are going to witness change just like what happened last season in the Seria A where AC Milan did the unthinkable after many years of league trophy drought. I would rather take a big risk maybe with a small amount to bet on Olympique Marseille to win at 13.30 than betting on PSG to win with a big amount and less earnings  that will be so painful if PSG didn't win the league so It is not a good bet.

I would say there isn't really a small risk to be fair. I do not see how it is possible for anyone to see how PSG can't be the champions this year, they are by far the easiest bet to do. But, I am not doing that because I am waiting for a better return on my investment than 10%. If I was a person who was happy with just 10% then I would certainly pick this, it is clear as a day that PSG will win the title, but I know for a fact that bitcoin will go higher than 10% in 10 months and that is why I rather keep it in bitcoin.

But, if I ever find places that accept bitcoin payment and get 10% back in bitcoin, then why not? There are some like that, and it means not only I will profit from bitcoin going up, but I will get 10% premium on that.

Most of the bookmakers that are presented on this forum allow you to bet in bitcoin, so if you bet on PSG and it really becomes a champion, then you will get + 10% in bitcoin.
But personally, I'm not interested in such a bet. In addition to the fact that the return is small and the term is long, I believe that there is a risk that PSG will lose the championship, that is, it is not even a guaranteed 10%.

It's 5 years back to this date, PSG carried Neymar to Ligue 1. It's to date the most costly 222M€ transfer in the history of football. As he most talented soccer player so most expensive transfer suite to him without question. However pundits condemn him exaggerated yet that sum sound great. There will be ups and down for every soccer player and he also going through same process but comes back more strongly. In pre-season his exhibition sufficiently nice, so we can accept he'll be in structure in this season and lift up a few major trophies.
What's the main trophy, because if it was only for the Ligue 1 title I think even without Neymar PSG would still be easy to get it. PSG's main target with such a luxurious squad is of course for the Champions League trophy but unfortunately, that target will not be easy because there are many other teams who also have the same target and even they also have a good squad. So the competition for the Champions League title is the main thing, but it still won't be easy even though they already have a lot of expensive players in it.

Paris Saint Germain are always the first favorites in Ligue 1, but they are not so strong for a higher stage, the Champions League. They always find it difficult when faced with other European teams who are the seeds of their league. In fact, if we look at the composition of the players, they are not inferior to other teams, you could even say they are more luxurious. But again it is not a guarantee for them. The quality of the league seems to speak for itself here.
Have you forgotten that psg got to the final of the champions league some season ago when Tuchel was the coach, they lost that final to bayern, you are correct that they should be doing better in the champions league with the team they have, but it is the same situation with them and City, i have a feeling that one them, manchester city or psg will win the champions league very soon, and go on to dominate in Europe for some time, i do not know which of them it will be, but i feel it will happen very soon, it can be this season so don't count them out.

Even after just one match we can't predict about their future in Champions League but still a good result for them, and they need more development for having better results in Champions League matches. If their these three big players are going to be on same level then surely we are going to have big advantage for them and defense is also very important as this was negative point for them in last season.

Agreed about the Champions League. It wouldn't be realistic to take their performance in a cup game or even in league games into account for their Champions League success this season. Because they are already way ahead of all of their opponents in the Ligue 1. But they have much more serious opponents in the Champions League for them. They need to build new strategies to be closer to their goal there as the old ones didn't work out very much.

Just winning on first match after PSG defeating Nantes last few days ago I don't think have good beginning for PSG on domestic league or Champion League, I know with goals contributing from Neymar and Lionel Messi after PSG winning 4-0 from Nantes, but couldn't compare when PSG playing on Champion League. Still need to show more than what did by Lionel Messi and Neymar when success scoring goals against with Nantes, on Champion League all team have great mentality exactly what happened with PSG after defeating by Real Madrid on second leg, there talk about how Madrid mentality on Champion League than PSG.
After winning first match surely they are feeling some better under new coach because with this win we have some good coordination and discipline between these players which is very important for big matches in this first match of new season they were missing their main striker but still a good result as Neymar is also now contributing in good way and if he is going to play like this then surely it's going to be good for them in Champions League as well.
