News reports indicate that Zinedine Zidane will become PSG - Paris Saint-Germain's coach as of June 2022. Even if Zidane joins, Kylian Mbappé might have a change of heart and stay at the French club. Although Zidane has turned down the PSG many times, I always enjoy hearing such news. That's my opinion, Mbabbe will leave regardless of what I say. Rumor has it this man will only build a team that includes big names, so chances are slim when Mbappé decides to leave.

PSG has its awkward moment when players are out of form and doing badly.
PSG is expected to win for several reasons, as you said Lyon isn't that top this season, PSG lost many points lately and will try to avoid more losses especially that they aren't used to not win for several rounds.
Yes, sometimes, PSG has its bad game when playing or against small clubs. Well, maybe because of some factors.
Actually, with all conditions and factors, PSG has more than enough: big players, great management and fund, and many things are likely completed in that club. But once more, sometimes, they are still doing some mistakes or something that makes the fans disappointed or cannot satisfy their fans with good games.
Fortunately, the point gap between PSG and other clubs is high enough so that it still can put PSG in the top standing and maybe cannot be defeated.

This is the interesting thing about football, sometimes having strong finances and having many star players does not guarantee that a team will
always win. There are so many factors that influence so that a team can win, that's why PSG have failed several times to win. So the Lyon vs PSG
match might be a surprise, indeed if we see Lyon's performance has been very bad this season. So PSG should be able to beat Lyon easily,
but we have to remember that PSG only drew against Lorient. So it's still open to the possibility that Lyon will win the match, especially since
the previous season PSG failed to win the Ligue 1 trophy. So this should motivate Lyon players not to be afraid to face PSG, although it must be
admitted that Lyon's chances of beating PSG are very small.

I think that Messi will be able to play against Lyon this Sunday. In this case, PSG will be even much stronger in this game. Lyon are already in a bad shape this season and they have a very difficult game ahead. If we were able to see the Lyon's version in last season, then I would have thought that they could even win this game. But this is not the situation obviously. But they might still not let PSG win very easily.

Literally, Lyon are probably weak this season, and won't be able to withstand PSG. Lyon performance this season is terrible, they finds it difficult to win matches, and end most of the games in draw. But, they won't even be able to achieve a draw point against PSG, the match is probably an easy winning for PSG. However, Am hoping to see Messi score against Lyon. Because, even since he got the Ligue 1, Messi now hardly score goals and have only scored 1 goal so far in Ligue 1.

I do not get why people are expecting so much from PSG all the time. They won 4-0 and yet that wasn't enough for most people and they wanted to see the "real" players (like these are not real) play and destroy their opponent. Much like Bayern scoring 12 goals or something in the cup, but we do not need that.

PSG managed to win and go to next stage and that's more than enough, there is absolutely no need to flex how good they are. Plus, France was never the intention of PSG, they can win the league and the cup if they really want to, if they cared about it then they would play with stars all the time and destroy everyone. The real problem is UCL and I feel like they are going to fail again, if that happens then what is the point of winning the cup or the league? It really doesn't make any difference at all if you ask me and that is why they are just putting bench players in there, even some youth.

In this season most of the top ranked French clubs are struggling into French League, but surprisingly they are having some good record in European Leagues like Lille are in knock out stage and here they are struggling very badly same happening with Lyon and Monaco and Marseille is only club with PSG which is doing very good in both Leagues for match Lyon vs PSG all things going into favour of PSG but with current form both clubs are not good and PSG having some good players in injury list which can hurt them for win in this match Lyon having 3 draws out of 5 and same is going with PSG but still odds are also in very good favour of PSG.

Sure. City this year looks as unstoppable as Bayern. Still, in the Champions League, the playoff round has already begun, and here each team has a chance against each.
Manchester City dominated Premier League after they got Pep Guardiola. Klopp joined and made Liverpool stronger but in most recent seasons, Manchester City performed better than not only Liverpool but also other opponents in Premier League. They have more good players on bench than other opponents and their tactics is sustainable with Pep philosophy.

I don't think City's heyday was due to the arrival of Guardiola, just look at the investments made in the club a few years before his arrival - City's success was inevitable. In terms of the cost of the squad, Manchester City is the most expensive club in the world, so it is difficult to say how good Pep is at City - he just achieves the expected result. At the same time, he has never been able to win the Champions League.

In my opinion, the Lyon v PSG match will be the most important one among all the matches this weekend. Both teams have important missing players. Lionel Messi is one of them also for PSG. His current condition is doubtful though but he might still not play due to getting covid-19. Neymar is injured right now too and he is expected to return on late January. But I reckon that PSG would still do a great job with Mbappe especially and Di Maria. But this is going to be really tough for them also. And I wouldn't be surprised if we see a draw at the end.
I think messi will play in the match against lyon later, after previously messi was absent due to covid and missed several matches played by PSG, but some time ago PSG officially announced that it was most likely that messi would play against lyon after messi got a negative test result covid that was carried out on thursday, in my opinion whether or not messi was in the match, of course it doesn't change my view that PSG will easily win the match, especially now that lyon continue to get bad results in their 6 matches in ligue 1.

PSG and Manchester City spend a lot of money to sort out their squads. But at the end of the season we do not get the expected performance from them. The goal of both teams is the Champions League. However, the context of this season is different. Both Manchester City and PSG are well positioned.
Manchester City is much more stable. They have played tremendously in the Champions League, they have also maintained their top spot in the Premier League. They are far ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League.
Manchester City is more stable than PSG because Pep has his solid philosophy. In PSG, coach position changed a few times recent years and tactics changed too. I see they have same power and quality but about stability as you said, Manchester City is better.

Unfortunately, in Champions League, stability is not key to win the trophy. Luck, magnificent moments from star players will be keys to take trophy there. Stupid mistakes will wash out all good things. Because it is not a long run like Premier League. A further round you reach to, a higher risk of losing with a single stupid mistake. Because opponents are strong and they won't let your mistakes go in vain. They will punish your mistake and win, then take trophy.

The situation is similar for City - they try every year, are constantly among the favorites, but fail all the time. Hopefully this year will be the same  Grin I will be glad to any Champions League winner if it is not City or PSG. I am glad that even if one of them wins the Champions League, the second will definitely be on the losing side  Grin
I know it's not fair enough for Manchester City or PSG when they are among the favorites every season for the Champions League title. Actually it doesn't look good for them, but they will gain more experience every season even if they fail in the final.

This season they still have a chance, so hopefully one of them can reach the final and win the title whether you are happy or not. That is my hope for these two teams.

No problem, I understand that different people have different preferences. I am rooting against the "new moneybags" - PSG and City, but at the same time I am rooting for the old ones - Real and United  Smiley

Similarly we can talk about PSG. They are far ahead in Ligue 1. However, in Ligue 1, however there is no team to compete for the title with PSG. The teams are weaker than PSG. However, PSG has also performed well in the Champions League.

Messi has only 1 goal in Ligue 1 so far and I don't think his absence will affect PSG too much. They have many good players who can score goals and can do even better than Messi. This break can help Messi to have a short break time and I hope it can help him to come back better and contribute more goals for PSG.

Neymar is the same and PSG won many matches in early of this season without Neymar and Messi when they were still in vacation after Coppa America. I watched a video in which Neymar is training. He looks very good in that short video and best wishes for him in 2022.

A draw, no I don't think Lyon will be able to make a draw. It can be a tight match but in the end, PSG will get 3 points from Lyon.

I believe that PSG will only improve as this season progresses, and as we saw against Vannes they’re playing much better football, but there’s definitely lots of scope for improvement considering their star studded squad.

Also grooming young player’s is a wise way to save money on future transfers, and I guess PSG has also realised that they don’t need to spend big during each transfer window, and lastly it’s quiet a possibility that new big stars may emerge from their youth academy in coming year’s.

PSG will undoubtedly strengthen when Neymar and Messi return to the main squad, the question is whether they will have time to do this before the meeting with Real Madrid in the Champions League or not - it will be a difficult match and without its main players PSG will be hard. As for spending on new players, they will be forced to do so, so few people believe that Mbappe will remain in the team after the end of the season.

I just saw the statistics of the games of the two teams in that match, PSG did appear quite dominant and even they managed to release 25 kicks with 11 of them on target, with so many chances, of course  that PSG should have scored more than 5 goals, moreover they played almost half of the main players in that match, I think with the results obtained in that match,  it was actually Vannes game that deserved our applause, because with a modest squad they were able to prevent PSG from scoring more.
That's something to pay attention to too, basically PSG's second and third tier players are still fairly good or at least, have qualities that are not much different from the main players. We can compare to other big teams like Bayern Munich and even, when they get the chance to keep scoring goals they really will and that's not the case at PSG who have more star players in the squad.
Considering how much money they have spent so far in their team, it is totally understandable for them to have a good youth system as well. Look at city for example, they have spent so much for players but they have spend a lot on their youth team and now getting some players from there as well. Foden is a great example for what City got by spending that much money, if they sold him today, he would worth over what they have spent on the youth team all by himself, and I am not even talking about other players that were raised through the system.

PSG probably has something similar, they are spending a few million a year acquiring very young players, players under 18, and then playing them in their youth teams and in cup games to give them experience and that's how big clubs keep being big. They do not only buy expensive players but spend it on the team itself as well.

This is certainly the case for the Ligue 1 now. Because like most people think already, PSG have guaranteed their championship logically. They are far ahead of every team remaining in the standings. And there are literally no team that can catch up with PSG at least for this season. I know that Lille's championship in the last season was like a dream. They lived the dream but now it is time for going back to the reality.  Grin
Of course, last year was a dream season for Lille.  Finishing the league champion in front of such a strong PSG squad is an achievement to be congratulated.  Lille accomplished that last year.  This year, they played not good matches.  They are fighting in the middle of the league.  I don't see a team that can surprise PSG this year.  They will dominantly win the league this year.  I expect them to score 15+ points to the nearest team.  Their success in the Champions League will be decisive for me.  Let's see if they can make it to the semi-finals or finals.
PSG is very strong side here for some years, and they are improving their quality with many skilled and good players recently specially with Messi and Neymar they have most lethal attack, but sadly their achievements are just inside France, and they fail to have any even outside France recently with last year Lille have French title which was shocking result for many because PSG were very strong but still lost just by 1 point but now this year we have many surprises as many good teams have fail to give any impression in French League with defending champions badly struggling and staying into middle and Monaco and Marseille are also having not enough quality to challenge them they need some more good teams for having some better way in French League quality.

Montpellier and Rennes both are doing really good this season. They have the same points now and they are at top places. When it comes to their next games ahead, Montpellier seem to have the most comfortable game. It is against Troyes and it's a home game for Montpellier also. I guess that they would get a comfortable win as Troyes are one of the worst teams now. But Rennes have a really tough away game ahead against Lens. Because Lens are one of the strong teams now. I think that Lens will not let them win.

The only true fight here is for the second place. The first place is already away with 13 points difference and the Ligue 1 is extremely boring compared for example to Premier League or Serie A in Italy. This is the result of having one stellar team like PSG and all other teams having mediocre to normal players compared to PSG.

It would be a shame for PSG with all the players they have including Messi this year not to win the Champions League as their focus is totally there now,Ligue 1 is just a formality for them now.
