I'm looking forward to seeing the Lyon - PSG game the next time. Maybe this won't be a very difficult game for PSG as they have dominated the season so far easily. And Lyon also are in a worrying condition in the standings. But considering their head-to-head history, there is a slight chance for Lyon to draw with them. But most of the time, PSG defeated them in away games. It won't make me surprised if we witness another one here.

Every match is important and PSG will not let the game be weakened instead PSG with its strong squad will continue to provide the best resistance with good goals, here I just want to see the celebration of Messi's beautiful goal because in league 1 Messi did not show his best goal.
Let's say Lyon can't catch up to the top of the top flight but can still compete with others to win points back, not only that, Lyon also still needs points to move to the next table.
But indeed Lyon in the current season has become worse.
Currently, PSG is feeling good handicap in this French League and no team capable of create any threat to them even it's just half of this season now they have more concentration on Champions League against Real Madrid which is very tough match for both teams. Nice and Marseille can go close but still no chance for any close title race.Let's say Lyon can't catch up to the top of the top flight but can still compete with others to win points back, not only that, Lyon also still needs points to move to the next table.
But indeed Lyon in the current season has become worse.
Lyon is in the worst shape for many weeks and dropping points very quickly now staying in lower of French League with many young players they have no chance for touching top 6 teams for this season but hopefully with this year they will have good players for their cycle and this could be better for them with some good results. Right now they are facing many problems because they are also having no title hungerness, just selling of skilled players is enough for their good profit.

Lyon always had this kind of reconstruction of the team... as whenever they hit the peak of a generation , they start to sell them and gather new fresh players to start a new cycle so nothing unusual for Lyon here.
However, no one seems to care about Etienne as this team is literally going into Ligue 2 and it seems that they have the same fate that Shalke had in Bundesliga last year as no matter how many coaches you change or how many players you rotate into that team , it will simply not work. They need an entire new team like Shalke had this year in Bundesliga 2.

PSG will want to make as far distance as possible against competitors in Ligue 1 in order to have more comfortable time and preparation when Champions League returns with knock-out phase. Messi has a worst season in last 10 years or even longer as I remembered. The season has passed almost half of it and Messi only has 1 goal in Ligue 1, that is unbelievable. This season can be another downward step for both Messi and Ronaldo. Their era is ending.Quote

Lyon lost their important player, Memphis Depay to Barcelona. PSG have some problems to build good connection between old and new players but it seems so far with many star players, they manage to win enough matches. They did not have too many convincing wins but the most importance is how many matches they won in total. It's final result that affect the race to Ligue 1 title.But indeed Lyon in the current season has become worse.
Lyon will likely lose this match if PSG play at their right ability.

I'm afraid that the Lyon - PSG game will not be that much important. Because PSG are already the leader by a huge point gap. And Lyon are not even close to their performance in last season. They are struggling a lot in this season and this could lead them to get an unsatisfying result at the end of this game. I expect a boring and low-scoring game and PSG could defeat them by one goal at least.
I think the Lyon Vs PSG match will still be important, even though PSG have collected the majority of points, they still have to keep those points so that they are still safe to win.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, we see Lyon with their 24 points. Their points distance with Rennes who is in 4th place in the Ligue 1 standings is only 11 points, I think it is still possible for Lyon to catch up with the clubs who are in the top standings.

But they got so many draws like 7 times. They need to do something to fix this. This time, they are even facing PSG. What a fantastic game to begin the year its truly unfortunate to see lyon on this situation but even psg are not on top form and they lost many points i think we will see a competitive game but it will depand on lyon performance.Psg dosent care much about french ligue because they will probobly win it easily as expected they already have a big advantage and teams like Lyon arent even close to winning the title or even to compete for it so it will really depend how much Psg will care ablut this match

The teams we wanted to see at the top of the points table have very poor performance. The performance of Lille, Lens, and Lyon is very poor. Their standings are not so good and, they are ranked 8, 9 and 13 in the points table respectively. Marseille and Nice, on the other hand, are playing very well. I think, they can't compete for the title though, yet they failed to improve themselves a lot.

I think the same, Lille has had its good success because if they reached a final it is because things turned out well for them, and I do not think it is because the other teams in the league have been bad, on the other hand PSG who was the one who had All the options to win the French league and the Champions League were the favorites for having a strong trident like Messi, Mbappé and Neymar, however they could not control all that power they had and it has been reflected in the results, however I do not know if Mbappé leaves for January, if only Neymar and Messi remain, it is something unfinished.

I had already guessed that Lille would not be able to win 1 in the league this season. PSG focused more on the Champions League last season. So Lille got a chance to play well and win the title. My guess was that Lille would be at least in the top 3 teams at the table. However, their performance is very poor. It is doubtful whether they will be able to qualify for the Champions League.

Nantes are one of the powerful middle teams in the league now. When we think that Nantes ended the last season at the 18th position in the standings and were really near relegating from the Ligue 1, this is a very good improvement. They are at the 7th position now and there is only a 4-point difference with the 2nd-placed team, Nice. This is a big development from Nantes but it is doubtful whether they will be able to keep this performance up till the end.
The performance of the Nantes team is really excellent. However, they have some problems. I have seen less tendency in them to draw matches. They have played 19 matches and lost 7 matches. They have to try to draw the match when they play against a bigger team. If their gameplay had been a little more organized, they would have been in the top 5 of the points table.
However, their performance is much better than the horrific performance of the previous season.
But if they work a little harder, we will see more changes in their position.

I see three big candidates for the 2nd place at the end of the season: Marseille, Rennes and Nice. We have left the half season so far and this trio performed really satisfyingly. As Monaco, Lille and Lyon are not having a very ideal season this time, the trio I mentioned have been doing a marvelous job until now. Monaco are trying to keep up with them and they decreased the gap really much. But I still think that one of the trio will make it to the 2nd place at the end.
I do not see any of them performing satisfyingly according to you. In as much as I have one of my favourite players - Neymar playing in that club, I don't really like watching legue one. Until they learn to do what Napoli, Atalanta, Milans and others are doing in Italy by displacing the All Time King - Juventus off top 4, I'll not regard them doing well.
I know it needs money to bring in big players. Yet, I am still not comfortable when a team leads the rest with 15+points

Interesting choice, and I agree with Rennes and Nice but I still think Monaco and Lille are going to be stronger candidates once we have 10 games left in the season.
What do you think about an outside like maybe let us say Nantes? Or even Brest maybe? 5 and 8 points away is not SO bad, it only takes 2 games of wins while opponent lose, and then to win a head 2 head to cut that gap

I don’t know but this season PSG hasn’t performed to their highest standards, because look at their draws which were games you expect them to win, and I know I’m being harsh because I have really high standards for them. Lastly comparing Bayern and PSG makes no sense, because both play in very different league, and Bundesliga is very competitive and I don’t find Ligue 1 that competitive in comparison to Bundesliga.
PSG have left their rivals by a point difference that is quite impossible for any other team to catch up at the moment, and I don't think they should make ligue 1 their main focus in the rest of the season, because it is certain that they have already won the title for this season, ligue 1 and the bundesliga in my opinion doesn't have much difference because so far there is only one team that continues to dominate the league, I don't know why you say that the Bundesliga is more competitive than Ligue 1?Jump to:
