Clermont can sometimes make things difficult for any team, but the red card their players received in the final minutes of the first half destroyed their 1-0 lead. It is very possible that if there was no red card, Clermont would try to attack more to further widen the lead or at least be able to secure one point.
Red cards often change the course of a match and Rennes was lucky enough to win because the three points allowed them to move up several levels in ranking, and this defeat made Clermont's fate worse that they will be relegated next season unless in the middle of this season, they can make quite a lot of changes but of course, these changes require money which the club often doesn't have so they have to be ready to move down a division.

We can take out PSG and Ligue will turn into a competitive league. But the champions and the other leading clubs will be average level when the time they are matched to the other leading clubs in the Champions League.

For Ligue to become competitive without lowering the expenditure of PSG is to invite multibillionaire investors to become owners of their clubs.

PSG raised many doubtful questions in early of season but match by match, they slowly improved and now on the league table, they stand at a first position with 5 points more than Nice. It is a big gap if we take into consideration strength of PSG and their usual domination in Ligue 1. They are back and clubs like Nice from now will have to chase PSG and it is a hopeless task for them. They lost best time to sink PSG down on the table and the giant is back, to dominate the league again.

Mbappe is important with PSG is a fact but PSG slowly learned that they need more than a super star player to succeed. A squad with good team-working can be stronger than a club that solely relies on a single super star player.

They let some star players go, brought some new ones in and they are not too famous players but they can contribute good team-working efforts for the team. This can help them succeed in a long run but they still actually need a player like Mbappe.

It took a process for Luis Enrique to bring PSG into a team that can be reckoned with, but if management doesn't give him time then I'm sure it will be quite difficult to achieve. The owner of PSG has a lot of money and in fact we are worried that if Luis Enrique fails to deliver a title in his first season he will be fired. So the long-term target of making PSG become one of the best clubs will not be achieved because usually clubs that have a lot of money like to replace coaches if they fail to win the title.

Star players like Mbappe are indeed needed in the team, but it is much more important when players can show their collective ability together not individually. That is what Pep Guardiola built at Barcelona and Manchester City so that he could bring success to the two clubs he coached, Luis Enrique needs to emulate that attitude and try to implement it into his team.

Honestly, maybe it is just me but it is getting boring a little bit. At the start of every season there is like this "lets see who will do what" period, and after a while every season it becomes clear that PSG will be champions, and the rest get their position and usually end up at that position. Maybe there will be few changes that's true, but usually it will end up where it is and nothing big will happen.

I think that's an issue and we need to focus on that. Nice have no posing threat for PSG because they're very inconsistent and will not become any more connected with the former oppositions. PSG coach, Luis Enrique is strict and he means business for his side, not only pursuing for good results but also an improved strategy that will yields prominent results. Paris Saint Germain doesn't stand in any position to struggle with these random average clubs in the Ligue One. Winning Metz 3-1 was consider good winning and that have sent Metz back to falling close to the relegation zone.

Today, to be honest, I missed a lot of matches in all the leagues that I follow, unfortunately with the busy work I have to do, I can't predict the matches that are displayed in several leagues. speaking of Paris Saint-Germain, Enrique's squad beat Metz with a big score after drawing against Lille in the previous match. referring to the differences between these two teams, both in terms of ranking and performance in Lique 1. I am pretty much satisfied with Lyon progression these days with another victory today vs Nantes. That's the third victory in a row and they are still out of the relegation zone which is psychologically relieving for the whole team and their fans.

About last season, Lens took everyone by suprise to finish 2nd in the Ligue 1, with just a point behind PSG, this season they killed a lot of expectations by starting poorly, however they began to pick up their pace and have got a good performance in their last 5 matches, indeed they're still a strong team and has proved it in today's win against Nice, who seemed like the potential winners of the league earlier on.

 With Nice dropping more points they're giving PSG more advantage to win the league, they've got their 2nd lose this season and they really need to do something to stop them from dropping more points, the league leaders PSG are now 5 points ahead of them and if they continue losing it would be difficult to catch up to PSG and Monaco who are 2points behind them might even catch up and overtake them.

Nice and PSG winning to night is further going to increase the point difference between this two teams on the league table this season, PSG will now be five points ahead of Nice, I think it will be very difficult for Nice to be able to get back to the top of the table again any time soon because PSG continually maintain the point difference between them.

PSG appeared more superior in today's game and their dominance has been seen in a greater part of the game, they did had no goals in the first half and it did looked like they were going to draw this game but in the second half, they have been able to lead by three goals and definitely going to get three points by the end of the game today because the second half is almost coming to an end with a 3-1 score line, this has made PSG top position on the table firm for the time been and Nice trying really hard to get back to the top.

Lens potentially securing a win against Nice tonight is indeed indeed an intriguing prospect.. Lens has shown commendable consistency in recent matches, especially their impressive win against Arsenal. Lens remains a tough team to play against, because they are capable of causing trouble for formidable opponents. The significance of this match for Nice cannot be understated, especially in their effort of competing with PSG at the top of the standings. A loss could hinder a good momentum for both teams. You brought up a few interesting points and one thing I would like to raise here is that you said Mbappe knows how much he can raise the price tag for his salary and whatever else is needed. Yes he knows that, but I think that players can also make a lot of money by showing to their fans that money at some point can become secondary. I understand when all of them want to become billionaires because who doesn't. But picking a club because it means something while leaving out the money factor can also gain new fans. I am missing that sometimes.

Clermont performance this season has been one of there worst season because they have not for ones in this season play like a team that have an ambition to go far on this season because they have lose so many matches this season that has made them to be on  the button of there table so perhaps is quite obvious that Clermont is going on relegation because they have played 14 matches since September till now and they win only two matches, so perhaps I agree with you that betting for Rennes is actually the best because considering the performance of Clermont on this season is a very certain win for Rennes because Rennes has also pulled a quite performance this season by staying on the 13 place of the league although even if there position is not quite impressive but comparing with Clermont Rennes has really made an effort so betting for Rennes to win is the best decision.

It is very possible that Lens will beat Nice in this week 17 meeting, and again create full points to continue to improve their position in the standings. For Nice, losing points means breaking their stride in overtaking PSG at the top of the standings, even though we know that in the end PSG dominance is too strong for any team in Ligue 1 to break.

I was very surprised by Lens when they were able to beat Arsenal who were at the top of their form, and I thought after that they could qualify for the last 16 of the UCL. Yet, when we check their history of playing against each other, the team at home has usually been the one winning. So, today, according to their past matchups, Clermont has a higher chance of winning. But, we'll have to wait and see what happens tonight because things can change in the game.

Indeed, in this case it is not too much of a problem in terms of the current standings because after all until now their performance can still be said to be maintained and still comfortable with their position but still this is a little painful for me who still expects PSG to win full points and the goal in the 1 minute before the game ends really hits back the bets that have been maintained before.

Currently, Rennes may be at the bottom of the table, but actually this team can continue to rise, especially as they always have a good record in each season, so I think they will soon return to the middle table in the near future. Rennes also still really needs full points and one way to do this is by beating Clermont in the next match.

The distance is 5 points and Clermont is in the relegation zone and it is very difficult to move on, but if they win this home match against Rennes then they will be free from the relegation zone for a while. Despite all that, I still believe in Rennes winning and at least they can still win by a narrow score.

They never really had momentum, but they managed to not lose any games for a long time and they have the best defense in the league, which allows them to win many of those very close games. But when we talk about momentum, I am thinking of a team that is constantly on a higher level than other teams. Nice won many of those games because it was close and they didn't get punished. But that wasn't sustainable. Atletico Madrid takes this to the next level sometimes with a low number of goals scored themselves while having the best defense, but I didn't expect that from Nice.
