PSG's win against Strasbourg was much needed for PSG. I don't see anything against PSG not winning against Strasbourg. PSG is a much stronger team than Strasbourg. Strasbourg have been at the bottom of the points table every season and if PSG can't win against them, they will win against any other team. Luis Enrique used a strange strategy against Strasbourg. The former Barcelona manager arranged the players in 4-2-2-2 format. Such a field setup is seen in very few matches. One benefit of arranging the field in this way is that the defense is more secure and the midfield can provide good support to the defenders.
It's good news for PSG, who moved from fifth position to second position in the points table. PSG's point gap with Nice is now only 1, expect PSG to recover 1 point in their next match and move to the top of the points table.
As I said, it looks like Enrique is currently trying to find a formula for a pattern that suits his squad. he requires some experimentation, plus always tries to rotate some of his players. It seems that Enrique hasn't found the right standard to use as his mainstay pattern. or maybe, Enrique used a 4-2-2-2 pattern to outsmart the system used by his opposing team with a 4-5-1 defensive formation pattern. To get the most out of his team during the match, plus penetrate the opposing team's tight defense, in the end the PSG coach worked around this with a 4-2-2-2 pattern.
To be sure, we can't really know what he was really thinking. Besides, Strasbourg is not a strong opponent, especially since this match was held at the Parc de Princes. apart from that, PSG is not only superior tactically. but also in terms of ball possession, total shots and 4 big opportunities.
Anyway, I don't like it if a team at PSG's level uses a pattern like last night's match. but either way, they deserved to win it.
Now, PSG is in 2nd position, 1 point behind Nice.
Another match will determine the standings, if Monaco wins the match against Metz, the standings will be taken over again by Adolf Hutter's squad and PSG will automatically return to 3rd place.
