Lens lost some players such as Loïs Openda, Seko Fofana, and Jean Onana this season but the club also signed some players like Elye Wahi, Andy Diouf, and Angelo Fulgini. I observed that they were not defending well because they failed to get the right replacement for some defenders they lost. This has made the team to conceive sixteen goals in nine games. This is indeed sad for a team that is competing in the highest competition in Europe. The good news about the club is that they are playing well in the UEFA Champions League. Lens is at the top of group B after winning one and drawing one game. I also suspect that because they don't have enough players, the club is focusing more on the UCL. However, Lens can still compete favorably in Ligue 1 if they can make proper use of the January transfer window to get more players that can fortify the team and make them play better.
It is really difficult not to notice Lens' interesting form this season. I don't know why they are focusing this intensely on the Champions League. Of course they make good amount of money from the matches. But it started to be like nearly all of their concentration is on that competition these days.
This can harm their Ligue 1 placement very negatively in the long run also. Maybe they are thinking like it is still the beginning of the season. But it is always better to act in time to not have bigger problems later on.
Hopefully Lens can start a good form. They lost some key players indeed but obviously it doesn't affect them very bad in the Champions League. They should do the same in the Ligue 1 too.
It sounds non sense if lens let its performance declined so hard just to play in the UCL. Lens needs also to finish at the top position at the end of the current season to make sure the club will also able to participate in the uCL next season. Lens needs also to solve its horrible performance in the league 1.
I meant does it make sense to see lens to let a chance to participate in the UCL next season go away? We have some strong clubs like nice but i would prefer lens to appear again in the UCL next season. I can't even belive that if lens was not caring with league 1.
The performance of lens was underrated but it doesn't mean the club has put all of its concentration in the to UCL. Lens's chance to win UCL is almost zero.
There are so many great clubs who were targeting the trophy but lens can take money as target to be raised from the UCL competition. It's likely lens is working to climbing up again in the local competition.
It's good to see that lens is trying to move forward.
