He really did make a headline here in the Philippines, if you convert it to pesos that's over 350 million, he can now retire and enjoy his life since he is now on his 50, he can plan a better life for his children and grandchildren I think he is a good guy, he will definitely going to take care of that winnings.

But in the interview he said they will continue ro work this person is so humble and kind congrats for winning in lottery draw you made it now your daily life change. Always remember dont give up for every problem you will encounter just be a good person make a hardwork and God will suprise you one day.
How do we just conclude he is humble because he promised working as a janitor, I listened to the news and the first thing that crossed my mind was, there is every probability that the janitor has no plans for the money and rather than wasting it, he would prefer to save it somewhere for his kids then continue with his work.

I think this is one of the disadvantages of gambling. It does not give winners or gamblers the opportunity to plan because they always don’t expect to win, you can’t compare it to investment where we already know what to do with money even before it comes, because we are expecting it already.
Depends on the mindset of such earner either if he do gain those money from gambling or pure hardwork or investment. If they do have that kind of sensible mindset
then priorities would be the main thing in mind because you dont know the hopes or plans of certain bettor when hes betting on lottery.Either he do want to buy all of his wants or just for the sole purpose on giving his family a decent life.
Exactly. Over here we are talking about the sudden luck and fortune that is so hugs that makes you think of how to deal with the money and only the wise man could come up with good ideas to invest profitably. People like Winklevoss Twins who had gotten huge money from Mark Zuckerberg and invested in Bitcoin back in 2009 I think when it was lower than $1.

Seems like luck has favoured the old man, I strongly do not believe that luck can be the only tool you always need some strategies if you do not want to rely on Simple Luck. But we cannot deny that Luck is also a thing and people really win sometimes because of the fact that they were lucky. But you are intelligent and you can make plans and calculations which will make more profit, we seek more on possibilities than on luck. This old man got a big bonus for his life I hope he spend that money on something good.

It was very inspiring story what a lucky guy but he really deserve it, luck was for those who are really in need something. Luck was making a person very happy in life. Well in life there are only few people who experience this one and its really life changing. It will be very glad to know that such big money was got by a janitor, he was so blessed by the above. You will never know when will be your best time but at least you are still hoping for something everyday that one day it was your shining time too. That man was so lucky in gambling.

Its a fortune for his life but he can be called as successful once he use this amount on right investment and multiplies it.If he simply put that money into lottery again and again will make nothing for him but the gambling site keeps earning more and more money for every bets.
If you are long gambler of lottery gambling you have probably a chance to hit jackpot soon like what happened to that janitor and become one of the multi-millionaires. The more you have been bought tickets the more you have a chance of winning. Maybe that was the strategy of that former janitor that he was now a successful and have earlier retirements on his job of being janitor not now cleaning any mess. Buying at least 10 tickets every day and consider it is already a loss will probably lead you to hit jackpot.
I disagree with that bro. I have been gambling for a while now how come I haven’t hit jackpot yet, it’s just a matter of luck and I am very sure that was what happened to the janitor. I understand the power of consistency but I am sorry it does not work in gambling.

The janitor was just being strong that he hasn’t gone out of his mind since all these years, who knows if he would be alive to meet this day, because too much loses in the name of being consistent has cost many a lot of mistakes, pains they wish they never started. There are people who buy lottery for the first time and win, I think i have read stories like that, so we do not necessarily have to keep on playing to win.

This was on the news this week on our local television. A man named Vito Halasan was won a 7M canadian dollars in a draw. He is already on late 50's and is currently working as a janitor and buy lottery tickets for the hope to have a better life. I dont think that this man is lucky but i consider him blessed. They say that gambling isnt the answer to poverty but this man becomes an exception knowing he deserved to won and i know its really for him.

“I buy lottery tickets so I can dream. I dream of being able to take care of my kids and make their future better. Now we’ll be able to buy a nice house for my children and grandchildren,” -  Vito Halasan

In every rule, there is an exception but we also should not compare his life to us. The universe wants to make him win because of some particular reasons. If you devote your money and time with gambling, you will end up with a life completely opposite to him. Hardwork and dedication is really the key.

Personally, I am not impressed with this story, i know it is true, But the fact is not everyone has too much luck. Actually, i have listen a lot of stories about lottery, that once a man who bought a lottery and one day he won and become rich. So he is only one man out of millionaire people, and i am sure it is not you and me. That's why i don't like lottery system.

I am sure that he has big luck in that lottery so he can win a lot of money. Many people were jealous of him because they cannot get the same thing as him and I think that will attract other people to tries their luck in the lottery too. I only hope that people will know what they do and don't spend too much money to buy the lottery because the chance to win the jackpot will not be bigger.
No need to be jealous of to that guy mate, we must be thankful enough that a very low class guy won the price and became a millionaire. It's hard to figure out on how it happened, but that's the principle in life that we should look up on. As long there's life there's hope! And I consider that man a real proof of a person which is from rags to riches.

We are not jealous with him, we all are happy to see that he has won, but you know only low class buy these type tickets, up class don't need to buy lottery tickets. And the surprising thing, when he bought ticket he also didn't know that he could win in lottery, But luck bless him and unpredictably he won.

This million dollars win came at the best time of this ex janitor and am sure he quit his job immediately after confirming the numbers and if his life can change in a blink of an eye why should others not dream.

The lottery is not a way to poverty as its put in the OP, it's a platform of opportunity which gives everyone a chance to win.

And soon he would go back to play with all the money again, itsjust a matter of time. Gambling doesn't give free money
Lol only stupid people will do what you are saying, and remember the Man get the win from lottery and not from some kind of gambling that addicting and and can make you lose in just a day

I am sure he can save the money for their future and the gambling habit will stop there
I agree, a person from being poor, won't do that kind of shit especially a Filipino. He really know how hard life is. It's also possible that he may stop from buying lottery tickets. He already won, knowing that it's hard to win in lottery then how come a twice, the chances will become even smaller. He's smart enough not to make such idiotic things like gambling that money again.

That's true, there are many people love to think on winning on lottery of course it was a dream to become the winner but I always think that "If it was your time, then the luck will come to you no matter what happens" you don't know what will be the next step of your life but the important thing is that you really hard work for you dreams knowing that it will pays off soon  Smiley
You are right, we cannot all be a winner, we can only strive to be among the winner, but when it comes to gambling, it’s purely game of luck and there is no strategy that can be out in place to really guarantee winnings for one. This is why I sometime like to stay away from gambling so that I don’t feel that life has abandoned me when I lose out.

Gambling is not the only part to success, whatever the creator has destined to bring one’s success, provided we work towards it, it will materialize, that was his own destiny, it has already been written that it’s through gambling that he will go from being a janitor to a millionaire and I am really happy for him.

One should access their own luck and game rather than thinking that if they won i too can win etc . For us money importance of 100$ also may be a lot than other people so we need to worry about how we utilise that money . Can we lose in gambling and still live a good life etc .

I don’t think he would be so foolish to make that mistake. He has already won a huge some of money as contrary to the  believe, gambling as a matter of fact just gave him money that would transform his generation for a lifetime. Those who make mistakes of putting back the money into gambling were never gamblers.

It’s impossible for a man who has spent a lot in buying lotteries that he never won for once, win after a longtime and put back the money into gambling, it only happens to those who are lucky to win a game in their first attempt, so they believe it will come so easy.

I have heard so much story about the less privilege people really hitting big in lottery in the Philippines. I guess they are just banking on that luck that one day they will eventually win and turn their life upside down.

However, there are cases as well that those people can't manage properly huge amount of money suddenly falling on their lap. Relatives and non-relatives come to the picture and the next thing you know, bad investments, bad people around you ruin everything.

So i do hope that Vito Halasan will not turn out to be another statistics in the lotto curse. Goodluck to him.

That's what someone's luck is called. If the person repeats the lottery again, they certainly won't get it back and everyone will have to do the lottery often to get the jackpot. But the reality is how many times you can't be sure when you will win. That is what luck calls can come from anyone.

Lotteries. Fool's game I suppose if you look at it statistically. I don't know anyone who's ever won even a prize bigger than the smallest consolation and I've known quite a few lottery players. My own grandfather for starters. Used to buy a few every draw, was even illegal in my town (it was a lottery from neighbouring region) but he'd buy it at a tenth extra of the cost.

Bought it myself a few times for the nostalgia after he passed away. They do say you can't win it if you don't buy it.
That’s not right bro, contrarily that’s a game for wise people. There are some investment that might look foolish but at the end it will be made known that it was actually wisdom. Like the saying that the end justifies the means, that’s how lottery cards are. You can buy over 10 and never win, maybe your luck would have come with the 11 and when we give up, we just assume no one wins in gambling.

You can imagine how long that janitor guy has been trying, but the safe side of his, was that he was working and as well , he understood the idea of separating just little money to try, and at the right time, he has won his dream house and car.

A shockingly large people that win the lottery end up broke because they can't control their spending and they end back where they started.  Hope it doesn't happen to this guy but it is a very common occurence when poor people receive a windfall like this.
I doubt if that will be the case with the Janitor, from the news that I saw the guy looks very calculative and he already has plans for hes money. The reason he ever dream of winning is to give he’s children a decent life and he even mentioned that even now that he has won this big, he would continue with he’s Janitorial work while he keeps the money for the children and I believe he knows where to make safe investment.

The ones who end up broke after winning in lottery are usually those who never had a plan on ground before it happened. It always like the money caught them unaware and then, the next thing they can instantly think of is to put back the money on gambling and that marks the end .
I guess the above user don't understand that the Janitor in subject was already a grand father which I believed have already learn from his previous mistakes for not raising his kids the way he wanted. However, the article stated that he's not planning to quit his janitor work so he easily invest the money.
