I have never participated in one of the obvious ponzis on here but I agree with certain parts of both of your sides.

However, Mem you are wrong by saying that ALL ponzis end with the operator running off with funds. 99% do, but there are a couple that have been running for 2+ months here and they make money by taking 1% of the amounts received. At the end of each round the remaining funds are dispersed.

There are some honest people however I will agree that if someone is running a ponzi and doesn't clearly say that upfront, like the Leancy and other "investment" plans, then yes they eventually run off with the funds. If you look at the ponzi being run by 125Ponzi though, his seems to be legit and has been going for some time now as well as a couple others. He makes money through the 1% fee. I will say a lot of these operators probably are sending some of their own funds to these ponzis though, is that wrong? Depends on who you ask but probably.

Anyways just my two cents on this matter.

boumalo, Im done with you - I kindly ask you to stop arguing in favour of ponzi's or I shall brand you a shill and be done with it.

Your like the uncle that lets kids play with hand guns for fun because water pistols are weak, all the while sipping a beer and telling the terrified neighbours to stop getting their knickers in a knot while bullets are flying through the suburbs.

So says the guy who cries like a little school girl, "I'm gonna put you on my text file naughty list if you disagree with me." I should start a "anti-ponzi whiners" list since threatening to add people to useless and ineffective lists seems to be the thing to do.

p.s. At least a school girl can tell the difference between "your" and"you're".

Most ponzis are sc.ams or finish in sc.ams but ponzi games on bitcointalk don't accumulate money, they send it to the old depositors as soon as the new deposits arrive
Some players did make money, most lose

No, not most - All by the very definition.
Guess who all the early investors are..... the ponzi operator.
Ponzi's also by their very definition HOLD onto money, because fucking morons encouraged by fucking idiots like yourself attempt to compound their investment.

boumalo, Im done with you - I kindly ask you to stop arguing in favour of ponzi's or I shall brand you a shill and be done with it.
Your arguments are pathetic, dangerous and highly ignorant (wilfully ?) of the subject you argue.

Your like the uncle that lets kids play with hand guns for fun because water pistols are weak, all the while sipping a beer and telling the terrified neighbours to stop getting their knickers in a knot while bullets are flying through the suburbs.

In short, you give horrific advice, endorse terrible actions and act as if its an OK thing to do.

People should be allowed to have free choice but those sc.amming should be ostracised; allowing newbies to post ponzis games is too dangerous because they don't care about being ostracised thus my idea of a ponzi section where newbies can't post threads
When a ponzi owner invested time to become a Jr member here he is less likely to run away with the money; at least he is less likely to run away immediately

False, a ponzi by definition is insolvent and the end goal of all ponzi's is to acquire as much funds as possible before it collapses.
Ponzi operators ALWAYS run off with the money.

Get that through your head boumalo, there is no "honest ponzi" and there has never been nor will there ever be a "solvent ponzi"
(unless run by the federal reserve bank but thats a different discussion).

They are all new accounts because they intend to disappear once idiots stop pouring money into their wallet.

Trading/Day Trading = You actually have a chance to win, but most people lose anyway.
Gambling = You can win short/medium term, and is (sometimes) fun for people who can afford it.
Ponzi = Pure stupidity and illegal in many places.

^^^
All 3 options are "exciting", why would anyone ever choose a Ponzi?

Day trading is dependant upon the market. A sideways trend means a boring day at times. No profit.

Gambling usually results in you walking away empty handed. While you may win a few cents here and there, overall once your money is in, it's there to stay.

Ponzi assures guaranteed results provided the owner is honest, keeps the site online, and people continue to invest.

Those three requirements have been met in the past and provided people continue to invest money, well aware that their last deposit could be a complete loss, it's easy money. It's not like they are disguised as an investment, it's clear you're playing a ponzi.

And since I live in a democratic society where I'm free to decide how to invest my funds and what games to play, I see no harm in spending a small amount here and there into the 3rd option. I day trade when the market is volatile but I also might throw some spare change into a ponzi site for fun.

This thread is like watching little girls with a cookie stand running across the street with signs protesting, "Don't buy lemonade down the street, buy our cookies instead". They scream, they protest, they tell you not to buy the lemonade. It's bad for your teeth, it tastes awful.... our cookies are tastier and are healthy.

Meanwhile those buying lemonade shrug their shoulders, and ask the little girl behind the stand, "What's up with those girls down the road? They seem awful angry at you."

To which the girl would reply, "They don't understand free economy" Smiley You can protest all you want that something is bad and evil, however the real argument should be why should people not be allowed to have free choice.

Maybe the chance of getting sc.am adds to the excitement
A ponzi game can be a skilled game in the sense that you can be ev>0 if you are far better than the rest of the players and if you disregard the risk of getting sc.ammed

haha, mem

you make me laugh with your list

"Trustworthy as letting a random stranger take your child for a ride in his "fun" fan" hahaha, horrible

lol, "fun fan", I meant to say "fun van" but "fun fan" also sounds like an offer Id turn down from a seedy looking stranger.

what do we need to do to have ponzi's removed from gambling section. Why is it soo hart to make category just for them?!

its not hart its just poorly enforced.
Report ponzi threads to the mods using the links and sometimes they get shifted.

you gamble your money for no fun at all

In that respect sure its a gamble.

Lets be fair to ponzi operators, their "games" are definitely :

  • Safe as walking across the street blindfolded
  • Trustworthy as letting a random stranger take your child for a ride in his "fun" fan
  • Sound in planning and execution as a perpetual energy device
  • An investment opportunity that is easily on par with dropping money in a wishing well and wishing for money

I mean its not all bad right ? Tongue

Its just something no decent person could watch an innocent person get taken advantage of.
At least with actual gambling (and not gambling in the philosophical/ poetic sense) players are aware the house has the edge, the games are frequently entertaining (horse races & poker for me) and the house is solvent.

we have subforum for ponzi and all spammers of these scams on our forums get immediately banned, www.talkcryptocoins.org just push all the ponzis over to our site have them post in our section then they can argue amongst each other over whos scam is better

Another good piece of evidence why the admins should make a ponzi's sub-forum or just straight out ban them

Ponzis are gambling but they should get into new section like gambling where you never win or maybe donations Smiley

ponzi's ARE NOT "gambling games" NOR are they "Bets".
I like how people wax poetic on the definition of gambling version gambling games.

Ponzi's are a gamble, like everything in life eg: Im going to walk across a busy street blind folded and I wont get hurt.

Any support for ponzi's is indulging stupidity and risky behaviour and trust in the untrustworthy (ponzi operators).

this is exactly what I meant, you gamble your money for no fun at all

Thanks for the warning.

Those annoying ponzi "games" are starting to get out of control... Undecided

They deny the very principle of what "Provably Fairness" is.

This topic (blacklist) should be sticked!
