You are correct. It's emotions that ruins a gambler. People tend to bet more aggressively when they lose. They tend to leave behind any plans or strategy and gamble anything they have left all at once in hope of recovering their loss. Which ultimately leads to more loss.
Gambling should be done responsibly if you don't want to ruin your life. Make a plan. Allocate a budget for your gambling needs and don't get too greedy. If you lost a lot, think that's it's a bad day and come back in another.

I admit, I'm also addicted but not to the point that i'm going to end my life. Aside from luck, controlling your emotion is one of the key in gambling. Your ended up doing worst if you can't like raising your bets, not following your strategy, ended up lossing and mad. That's why others suggestion is only play what you can afford to lose.

13 hours? That clearly shows he is addicted in gambling, I can even barely gamble more than 1 hour  and still I can feel the pain when losing money.
We have to build that discipline within as gambling addiction is proven will affect your life and might end your life unexpectedly.

Gamble wisely, don't focus on it as if it's your source of living, but treat it like the way it should be treated, and that is for entertainment only.

This guy really did all-in. That´s just crazy
Gambling is for fun. You are paying to have fun. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. You shouldn´t lose your life or your life savings in the days in lose. Neither become a millionaire in the days you win. Only pain someone will find doing that...

It is very unfortunate, someone become not aware that gambling is not only a source to get money and we shouldn't take too much attention with that by caring less with your life. That's why when we see our family members or close friends become addicted to gambling, we need to give advises and take serious attention to them. Addicted gamblers must be hard to control their selves and sometimes think unrealistically when they lose the game. Therefore, the people closest to them will have a big role to make them be aware of the bad habit.

Moderation is the key to slowly control their emotion when in gambling since it's sole purpose is to entertain the player and not to make money from it. Depression is not that easy to handle especially if you haven't felt any happiness in your life it will let yourself drown from doing something that tends you to not stop until you won't make it.

A true example of greed and being a real gambling addict. No need to read those articles because the title said it all. You see, there's no progress in gambling even though you spend a lot of money and time in it. If he bought some ETH or BTC on the first hour then im sure he has even a cent after the 13 hour mark.

It's been clear that the "gambler" involved needs serious attention. He can't control now himself because it's beyond his control as he already falls on the trap.

We can't just easily say to a gambler that they need to control their emotion. It's human nature and all gamblers will experience that. Some became successful dealing with it and some don't. The one triggered the inability to control the said gambler is his experienced of big winnings couple of times.

His mother knows it and does anything to put a stop to her son including seeking assistance from the said casinos but didn't turn out to help at the end. Physical casinos should be responsible for every gambler playing inside their premises especially playing for a long time as they are implementing a responsible gaming system.

If you know you don't have good self control in the first place, it's a good idea to just avoid gambling as a whole. Gambling's obviously not for everybody, and it can be extremely hard to stop especially once you've buried yourself in losses.

Greed can take over in trading too, especially with highly leveraged margin trades, which are essentially gambling with 100x leverage. Greed can ruin you almost anywhere.

From the article - “If someone is sitting at same machine for 16 hours do you go over to them and say ‘mate are you OK’, or do you go and get him another drink?”
This is very scary stuff and I dont see how the casino can not tilt their head in shame here.

It appears the club may be facing disciplinary hearing

Self control is the key to avoid this type of incidents. He became greedy after a big win of $60k and wanted to earn more but he lost the money instead, he tried to gamble again to win what was lost but wasn't successful, even to his death he had not recovered the money he lost. This story should serve as an eye opener to gamblers for them to realize that greed is very difficult if not controlled and if you will let greed take over then it might cost your life.
