Not never but it will never be used as a place to earn income because after all it is a goal that will never be possible to achieve in a place that depends on luck. Gambling addiction is not a easy one depending on the gambler though, I always come from the initial state like for instance what was their motive that kept time going in gambling, most people is the fun part in gambling (the entertainment) that usually kept some folks going while some are the money they may win from it because gambling is all about, luck so either you win or you lose . So gambling addiction is something that may take time for folks to amend. But when you are been able to overcome those addiction you will yah self living in a more healthy way.

Yes, preventing or overcoming gambling addiction is not easy because it is the same as gamblers trying to fight the behavior that is already attached to their bodies with a very tiring process of energy and mind.
Of course, every gambler has their own views about them playing gambling just for entertainment or seeking profit in it, but both of them if not controlled properly, the results will be the same, namely losing money quickly because there are no proper control limits.
It is true that if a gambler can overcome gambling addiction well, then the gambler's life will not experience problems, in fact they will look happy because they know the limits in spending or playing gambling wisely and with discipline.

Living with addiction takes up time to build and as well heal. Gamblers, some, stay compulsive for years, and tend to normalize the lifestyle. Trading ia different from gambling, because it is based on skills why gambling is strictly based on luck. You can become a professional trader, but in gambling you will only become a professional loser. Whoever has the mindset of gambling as a means to upgrade his finance to the next level is wrong and might end up bringing poverty to himself if he continues in that mentality. Gamble takes from us, and not the other way round, which is a good reason for all gamblers to gamble for fun so that you can limit your losses.
