The government will not care about it, so the main step that must be taken is to control yourself, we all know and often see people who go bankrupt because of gambling, that's why we have to be responsible gamblers, to avoid bankruptcy.

Indeed, it's your obligation to yourself to control your emotions, it will lessen the chance of getting hook and just like how the title of this thread gambling is a shortcut way to poverty of you unable to manage your finances and just keep pushing in hope that you might win huge and become rich, most of the time, when you are dreaming big the risk that you are willing to take is really huge, better to control than lean to anyone including the government. It's on you and nothing else to control yourself not to lose a lot.

If you get to gamble continuously and not let any of yourself be controlled, I believe it will be a problem, and that problem could be being broke, hence your title a shortcut to poverty.

It could indeed happen, and you, as a person, should be accountable for your actions and know that you can also turn it around. I do hope that people get back on the right track.

Stop justifying yourself to gamble that you could “possibly“ win.

If any gambler refuse to gamble responsibly thus such a person would end up bankrupt leading to poverty as you rightly said, however gambling for fun with the amount of money you can afford to lose wouldn't lead to poverty rather it brings about opportunity to earn extra income, I have seen full time gamblers who earn their income solely through soccer betting invariably earning money to make end mets and ñever got addicted because of their prudent way of spending money to gamble,  moreso it's not necessarily to make it big in instead steady flow of income.

Me I will argue differently because when the OP said made it through gambling, I believe what he's pointing at should be on the line of making enough money from gambling up to the extent that the person can boast of 80% of their wealth coming from gambling and not just a few lucky winnings, which most of us here do get from gambling. Sometimes one big win too, but not enough to say we made it from gambling.
You are right because we can take it that way if someone has already established through gambling, but for some random winning they we can't assumed that would erased poverty to an extents making someone rich, even though there is every possibility but yet the chances of losing is also higher than winning approach, hence must not entirely depends on gambling for a life recreation as a means of wealth and becoming rich.

Gambling is a shortcut to poverty? Yes I can agree with that assumption, it is an assumption based on a fact, but unfortunately most people are trapped in a misconception where gamblers especially those who fight against the casino's advantage think that gambling is an alternative or solution to overcome financial problems and that is why they eventually experience a slump in their lives which initial impact refers to the loss of financial stability.

On the other hand I think that if the object of victory in gambling is not money then it seems very unlikely for gamblers to misunderstand what and how gambling really is, when someone is faced with the opportunity to get money with little effort then that's where they will put great hope and of course that is a fatal mistake in thinking, so use your common sense, don't be easily tempted by everything that looks tempting, you don't know the negative side.

Most people believe that they will succeed in gambling because some people have become wealthy through gambling and they believe they can do the same. However, not everyone can benefit from gambling, and if you see yourself losing too much, it is better for you to stop and look for another alternative to invest your money. If gambling is not favorable for you, I can say that it is a shortcut to poverty because you will be losing dippy, and if he has become a part of your life that is addicted, and you won't get something mindful to do with your funds because anytime you will be thinking how can you get your money back you spend on bet, and anytime you stake if you lose, you will start thinking you should try again you will get money back and if you win, still you will be getting motivation that you will win again, so is more better you should get something doing if you are types of person that like gambling is more better you should have source of income, that you will be paying and the main problem you should not let you be addicted in your life because you will not get better thing to do.
If casinos are hoping to make money from gamblers and gamblers that are gambling are also hoping to make money from casinos, then what do we expect? This may be based on probability and luck that is involved in each games with the hope of making money. Casinos keep attracting gamblers to keep making use of their websites while giving them bonus rewards to bets more and each gamblers are going to make money from their bets so that can benefit from the casinos they are using. Everybody want to make money which is seen as a form of business. Those that are broke want to make money from gambling seeing it as a means of short cut to riches.

With gambling gaining awareness each day and the population of those gambling increasing it's calls for concern as many has fallen victim to this money sucking game that makes people not to save their money but loss it.
But let's take a critical look at this very sensitive matter called gambling has anyone really made it from gambling, is gambling worth it and if really anyone has made it through gambling can he/she proudly tell the younger ones that gambling is what going into.
Infact gambling has made many to go broke and live in poverty many has lost their life savings and even pension in gambling, I am of the view that gambling should be controlled by the government of each country and that there should be a maximum amount of money one should use in gambling.

How else do you want government to control gambling? When are we going to realise that gambling is a business and they're paying tax to government as demanded. Why else do we still want government to regulate the amount people can bet with at time? What will happen to the tax they are paying? Will government review down their tax as well? No gambling persuade people to come and play games, they choose to do on their own and we shouldn't make it look like they are responsible for people's financial situation. When we think of making money through gambling, this is what it result to because there's no point in knowing who have or haven't made it from gambling. If you lose your life saving to gambling, you're irresponsible.
Am always afraid whenever i hear a particular industry should be regulated by the government because that is when the worst in that industry would come out. Still casinos these days are paying huge task to the government since the government will never leave any thriving sector alone without benefitting from it. Business like this will only be supported by the government. As long as they keep getting that huge benefit from it, they don't care if people ae getting addicted day by day, or strange things are happening in the society because of gambling addiction.

Money spend on gambling are personal money, government cant choose  to control whatever the amount a gambler wants to use in gambling. He is paying his dues through the casino, which means if he loss or win its all on his head. We get to take responsibility on our gambling actions its none of the government responsibly to bare.

I would boldly say... YES, i have made it in gambling because I have been luck to win several and thoug has also lost several times.
Interestingly... I could play I feel the funs out of it especially playing on the slots games.

I am of the view that gambling should be controlled by the government of each country and that there should be a maximum amount of money one should use in gambling.
Gambling is a business enterprise owned by an individual or a group of individuals. The least that the government can do about it is to impose taxes on them and give them some restrictions on what not to do. However, we already know about the age restrictions given by the government, that no one below the age of 18 years should be found gambling. Every other is allowed, so long as it is gambling bets.

I think someone who's above 18 years old can take full responsibility for their actions. And the government can't dictate or control how people live their lives, so long as they are not doing anything illegal.

That being said, gambling is legal in most countries. That makes the government not have any business in how people gamble with their money on bets or how business owners run their gambling businesses since they have their taxes paid when due.

People wont really be able to realize things not until on the time or moment that they will be experiencing those shit conditions on which they will really be that trying or thriving out to play out even further
as long they wont really be able to hit up their target or goal then its not something that makes them stop. On the moment or time that they do literally have no money to play then this is where self realizations will really be starting to kick in and telling into themselves that they shouldnt have done this and done that. Well, thisi s really that very a common human behavior and thats why there are tons of people who do really failed up into this aspect but actually be able to recover and made out those learnings on the time that they do realize those things on how it should really be that treated on.

Gambling is indeed a short cut to poverty on which if you do let yourself that being too greedy towards it, then you are really that putting up yourself on such great trouble. This is why you should really be watching out on every steps or decisions you would be making.

It might be right to say that gambling is a shortcut to poverty for people who gamble without any basic understanding of what and how gambling really is, or what is meant by gambling will only have a bad impact or destroy someone's life, especially in terms of economy only when they gamble blindly, that does happen and indeed most of the gamblers experience such a situation of decline.

But we also cannot forget that there are always some gamblers who are still fine, which are those who from the beginning first make an assessment from various sides about what and how gambling really is, especially from the negative side which makes them know that gambling blindly will only lead them to decline through the scenario of losing a lot of money so that they prefer to treat gambling according to their abilities, especially in terms of betting the amount of money. This means that if you don't want to experience various bad things because of an activity, then understand the activity first.

It really is.  I mean I love gambling, obviously, and when bitcoin was created and we were able to start gambling with it, it kind of sparked a whole new love of gambling for me as it just makes things so much easier and more efficient.  That being said, and I've said this many times here, go take a look at the type of people who are holding up the line at the gas station/supermarket or if you're country allows for "parlor" games.. not to be mean or judgemental, but it's typically poor people.

Definitely, gambling isn't for everyone but since there's a chance for people to be able to get rich and hit the jackpot even the slightest chance, they'll take the opportunity to do so and risk their funds.

I have personally come to the conclusion gambling industry is so vast and there are some many modalities and games that there is a style for gambling and betting for everyone. It is such in that way and that is because some regulation it is needed so children and other people who are not supposed to gamble stay away from casinos, because if one does not enjoy poker or Plinko, there is always alternatives like sport betting; if one does not like Sportbetting because there is no passion for it then there is always blackjack, mines and poker.

So in a sense, even if gambling and betting it is not for everyone, it certainly could attract a high percentage of the people on the internet, perhaps up to 95% of more, but they choose not to engage with it for religious or economical reasons.

Gambling is short cut to poverty
Not for everyone. Though it's a common narrative that those who started to get hooked up with gambling are eventually going to be broke. Yeah, that's actually true, but that depends on each person. There are those who know how to control their expenses despite of being so frequent in gambling.
Those who don't value their hard earned money are most likely going to be broke in no time lol.
Definitely, gambling isn't for everyone but since there's a chance for people to be able to get rich and hit the jackpot even the slightest chance, they'll take the opportunity to do so and risk their funds. There might be frequent gamblers out there who know how to budget their expense, but they mostly allocate funds to gambling which is expected to lose which could've save to other things that could help them in the future.

It's not about people who don't value their hard-earned money, rather it's how people aren't able to control themselves especially when they started losing or winning which trigger them to bet more and more until they notice that they've gone over budget and spend more than they should.

I agree with you that gambling has got a lot gone broke and also looses the values of their responsibilities including personalities to their respective societies but who is to be blamed? Of not not the gamble but the gambler who was unable to take control of themselves in keeping a responsible gambling personalities.
No one forces anyone to go into gambling, and we have our various reasons why we gamble. Those whose reason for gambling was to make profit are the problem to themselves, because they wanted to make money from an impossible source. In the beginning, if you advise them that it is impossible to double their money with gambling, they will run away from you, and keep their gambling activities secretive because they see you as someone who is against their goal. Later, when they have lost it all due to addiction and become frustrated, they will not blame their foolishness but put all the blame on gamble.
I've seen many people argue they gamble for fun, but the truth is that almost everyone gambles for the money. If it were to be fun, many other activities can give you without risking your money, including many types of games, but for the money, people continue to risk their money, so we have to face the reality here. This is why I say it is easier said than done the way you paint it, so to face it, I can only advise people not to desperately seek money from gambling. I said this not to change the mind that they want to make money in gambling but they should do it responsibly and not believe that gambling will make them rich. That desperation and bad mindset are what makes them get hooked on gambling and not the mind of making money in it per se. Others still gamble to make the money and do it responsibly and painlessly.
When you put making money as your priority, it means that you have decided to see gambling as a means of making fortune for yourself, and this is backfire you, because you will get get away in illusion and gamble irresponsible. It should be good that when gambling, only don't more than the amount of money that you can afford to lose, in order for you not to feel emotional after losing your bet because this is one of the thing that can make you start chasing your loss, and incur more losses getting you trapped in gambling because ofyour greedy nature of not letting go of your losses. A responsible gambler knows that profit is not the priority but he is only trying his luck and is ready to accept the outcome of his bet happily.

In fact, everyone wants to bet on gambling because here they find a source of money making that they will suddenly become rich. Especially poor people gamble with the dream of making money and becoming rich. They try hard and gamble to get out of poverty by changing their fortunes and gambling. But there are two types of rich people like who gamble just for fun. Because he has money he bets on gambling for fun and to pass the time. On the other hand, some rich people gamble to grow their money because they consider it the best way to grow their money quickly. I bet on gambling to earn money but considering my pocket funds.

Unfortunately, this is true, because most people don't win, but lose money in casinos and betting. You don't have to be a genius to understand that all the prize money that the lucky ones get is not the casino's personal money, but the money of those who lost. And if someone won a million dollars, it means that many people lost different amounts (the casino, of course, took a commission). It turns out that this is a redistribution of money, and I really don't know of any hobby where you can lose everything so quickly.
