That is "if" you are a compulsive gambler, that means you have no control over your gambling habit, that way you are really going to end up addicted, and many times that it is mentioned here that if you get addicted, you will have a problem dealing with your family members and friends, and also in the workplace if you are working...So it is not gambling itself that is a sickness, it is you who got addicted...

I disagree if we generalized gambling as a sickness.. It is if we gamble carelessly with all of the money we have in the bank.. but if we play only for fun and under controlled bankroll and sessions, it would not create big impact into our life if we lose. But if we win big out of those sessions, then it will create big impact for the better.

We just need to control our emotions and only celebrate right after we cashout. When betting, just follow systems and sessions - try harder to get rid of that emotions and just reserved it if on profit and just cashout. With emotions come greed - better practice to be emotionless when betting and let your system do the work.

Only the professionals can do gambling without emotion and they have already master that as you cannot become professionals directly. I believe with proper control although we are losing we can still enjoy gambling in general and that would help us to relax for awhile while gambling.

I understand. I don't gamble against the house. I only gamble against other people (over the internet), and I look for opportunities.

That is a good move, gamble only in games where house advantage if love to be entertain but if you feel like you are going to get serious with getting real money in gambling you should focus on games that would give you a good advantage to win by using your skills to it.

Just because I gamble, doesn't mean I'm sick, but I'm not betting my life away either.

Actually alcoholism at certain point can be medically diagnosed, as it will leave mark on your body (mainly destroyed liver leading to cirrhosis) but many other visible to the naked eye symptoms can be easily spotted. With gambling you don't have any apparent signs of you being addicted. It is all in your head, this is the worse kind of addiction to prove that it is really a sickness.

Gamblers will only consider gambling as sickness when they experience bankruptcy in gambling or have ruin their life in gambling but more use who just love to play it and get entertain it will never be a sickness, instead it can give us more energy after relaxing.

Gambling can be addictive in much the same way that food, pornography, video games or drugs can be. However I don't consider any of those "sicknesses." Certainly not food for a start. Gambling is obviously dangerous if you have poor self control or otherwise addictive tendencies but this does not mean it is a "sickness." Addiction to gambling is a serious problem but this does not rule out the rest of us from respecting and enjoying it.

Your view here is rather outdated and regressive I must say.

But many gamblers bet their life's earning in gambling and got their life sicked thereafter. That is the reason we are spreading out the awareness how gambling could spoil your life similar to a disease. Gambling is more dangerous than alcoholism or any other bad habits. Because, it would spoil you and your family happiness. That is the reason sometimes we do call gambling as a social sickness.

Yes gambling addiction can be really very bad. You can say it is worst than sickness of anything if you are addicted to gambling.

yeah and that help one can get from is only rehab as there they will enjoy and learn how to leave that addiction slowly but we all have to play only for fun so we can be very safe while gambling and with only balance that you afford to lose !!

If you can manage your losses then gambling is not really a sickness is just some other activity you do like any other stuff like investing and so on, so if you consider gambling a sickness you must consider investing a sickness too.
