My guess is one pays a premium for GBTC since they are in short supply and desirable for retirement accounts.  I suppose it might be taken as a leading indicator to some degree since investors of this sort tend to do their homework.  The volume ain't huge so it might just indicate the feelings of such a small number of folks as to be next to useless in terms of the broader market.

ETF is a long ways away.  Gemini exchange isn't even approved in all 50 states yet.

... so now it is a leading indicator?

Its a circular argument, why is the fund priced the way it is.

What the hell is going on with this thing?  Closed at $528 per coin today.

Yeah, it's the biggest positive spread versus the BTC market price since May 17th.

If anyone was following my story; my SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust is supposedly going to be available in my Schwab account on or before Dec. 14th.  Slow is an understatement.
I have Schwab and was able to purchase GBTC this past summer. It didn't work for the first week the ticker was active, but then I called and the next day it worked fine.

I'm interested to see how much we gap down on tomorrow's open.
I was surprised to see it hold $48, climbing to $51 by end of day as we remained at $400 today.
I strongly suspect that today was a holding pattern, and with the auction out of the way, we'll suffer a rather significant decline.

Maybe we'll luck out and Bitcoin price will recover before tomorrow's open.
