Fidelity just put a ban on day trading/buying GBTC it looks like. Weird?

I think many brokers are now limiting access to GBTC and CoinXBT. Hilarious that they started doing this before the biggest bull market in BTC history.

I wonder if future's will make gbtc a good short snice people don't need gbtc and its ridiculous premium anymore.  I'm thinking of a play where you simultaneously long futures and short gbtc

I don't think you can easily short GBTC.

But with BTC up another $1,000 overnight I think this will be ignored and GBTC will be up 300 - 400 at the opening bell.

GBTC dropped 40% Dec 5 just like Motley Fool says predicted then climbed back up halfway at the close. I wonder if GBTC will re-structure to make it more competitive with next week's futures product introductions?

GBTC is dropping a bit. I wonder if we'll see a further drop into next week given the CBOE futures trading announcement (on top of the already announced CME trading).

GBTC is on a ROLLER COASTER

On Dec 5, GBTC opened at 1880.50

39m later spiked +13.3% to 1905.55

two hours later dropped -41% to 1350.00

32m later climbed back up +22.8% to 1658.36

then went up and down for 3h 45m closing the day at 1573.88

down -13.76% for Dec 5

THOSE ARE SOME BIG SWINGS!

I am not sure, while for institutions the futures market would make sense, for your average person on the street GBTC is the easiest way to gain exposure. It dipped but came back quite a bit quickly, so the demand is still there.

So I guess this is pretty much the GBTC and general crypto fund thread. I see that Grayscale has now released Ether Classic (ETC) and Zcash (ZEC) funds. Any thoughts on these and/or anyone invested in them or planning to?

If I'm not mistaken, those two are currently for accredited investors only.

Im glad I bought back into GBTC a couple of weeks ago, big move today. 20%+

Yea, I was expecting a big day. I had a feeling people were telling their family members, over the thanksgiving holiday, that GBTC was an easy to get into Bitcoin. The GBTC I bought back in July 2015 is up 4,300%. I never expected such gains so fast in an IRA.

Crypto gains for the last 18 months have been fantastic, cheers!

https://xbtprovider.com/news/post/xbt-provider-ab-further-update-in-connection-with-bitcoin-cash

"As was also confirmed in the Press Release of 17th October, 2017, the Issuer has determined to implement a cash distribution plan in respect of the result of this fork. During the three-month ‘observation period’, the Issuer sold 44,471‘Bitcoin Cash’ coins, for a USD value of $14,587,291. These proceeds, less the costs of implementing and administering the distribution plan, will be available for remittance for the benefit of the holders of its bitcoin-referenced Certificates at the opening of trading on August 1st."

$328 a BCH selling price. Didn't know observation period meant dump during that observation period Tongue

Hopefully GBTC does better than that.
