Do you know that port 3333 is open? Have you noticed that most pools have a port 80 option, among others, to test out if you can't connect on port 3333?

I think it's safe to say the USB stick is not the cause of your network issues, so you might consider checking for this kind of problem in the cgminer thread. I'm sure they've been asked and answered a hundred times in the half-dozen years the software's been in use.

Try a different pool. If you were attempting connection requests with an invalid address to ckpool he probably banned your IP.

tried with slushpool

Try running it without -D and -P

It is reporting it can't find the pool though - you're sure the device is on the internet?

I have same issue. Running on Ubuntu 16.04. Built cgminer as instructed. Tried telnet solo.ckpool.org 3333, and it works. Also tried slushpool with similar outcome. Have 3 BM1384, all produce same result. I would greatly appreciate any hint as I am running out of ideas.

cgminer --url stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 3DKHBZcT6qR5KGJLJzL3LRVEnHSSHcVrb1.0 -p x

telnet? why? besides, you posted something that can't work.

CNTRL-alt-T
if you followed instruction re building EXACTLY, then

go to post #1 "Run syntax" and do as described for Linux.
Figure out the logic of the command, where is the miner executable (in which folder), get to this folder using CLI, then issue the command as described in post #1.

Do you really want to mine to solo? Chances are you would get nothing vs maybe getting some satoshi's elsewhere.

Telnet is generally used to see if one can connect to an end point. End point being  'solo.ckpool.org 3333'. I did find that the bc address I provied is incorrect.  Assuming that address is correct what else can I try?
Here is another attempt with correct address and debug options

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 3E2m8V8dQvSQDJMHQD5dcCHM5AhYQDP6ti.0 -p x -D -P --verbose

Hi there  the gekko science 2pac run on raspberry pi  3 model B+?

Gonna guess it's an issue completely unrelated to these sticks. Might check the cgminer thread.

I have the same message(bellow).... on windows on ubuntu with all drivers and on all pools .
The connection to the pool seems to work i have tried with telnet abut my devices are still not working. IS it possible that the gekko devices to have some issues?

Can someone suggest me other work around ?
Thanks!

Somehow, everything you said is wrong.

"on windows on ubuntu" makes no sense.

"the connection to the pool seems to work" is invalidated by the fact your error message is summarized as "you typed in the pool info wrong so it won't work".

Alright i appoigise fellas, is there any chance i can get some one to break it down barney style for me? i am new to this and would really like to get my 4 2 pacs up and in motion. thanks guys

What don't you show us some effort? What have you tried? What is not working for you. Your post shows no indication that you've attempted anything.

Build cgminer-4.10.0-windows-gekko from the first post, for some reason I can not download, the site writes "forbidden".
On what system are you trying? On Linux you can just clone it with the "git clone" command.

Where are you in the process that is outlined in the first post of this thread?  It would help tremendously to know what you've done so far, what equipment you're using, etc.

(I just thought it especially funny that a guy called "the searcher" would ask such an obviously easy question without searching to see if it had already been answered a hundred times. I like to help people, but mostly people who at least try to help themselves first.)

Is SHA3 mathematically identical to Bitcoin's algorithm?

I am new at this and at this stage I need advice, not sarcastic opinion.  If you don't have an answer then just keep quiet

sidehack makes the device, so please give the benefit of the doubt. I think he has been around the rodeo one too many times and tires of the same questions.

lmgtfy: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=can+you+mine+sha3+with+sha256+asic%3F

Gekko 2Pac can not mine SHA3 (aka Keccak). Different algorithm.

Thank you for answering the question.  Just wanted to make sure before I purchase a unit as a gift for my son.

Enjoy the weekend

Can you give a little help for a newbie?  I am wondering if I have a dodgy stick or I'm maybe doing something wrong....

Do you think S1 has died?  Have I done something wrong or is there anything I can do to test it or resurrect it?  I would hate to think on its first day out of the box that it has died on me already.

I remember VH writing in the earlier pages to run the stick at 100Mhz (maybe even lower). That might readjust something... then once the sticks reset and run at 100Mhz, you can try at higher speeds. You should really get a multimeter and a usb safety so you can check ASIC voltage and how many volts and amps the sticks are needing. It makes tweaking more accurate.

sidehack also said a few pages advice about running multiple sticks and some of the challenges running multiple sticks can cause.
