Does anyone have a link to using the Bitmain R1 as a controller for these sticks?  Is it as simple as just plug the sticks' hub into the R1?  Any info provided would be great.  I'm sure it's here somewhere, but searching didn't turn up anything and I don't have time to dig through pages and pages of threads.

Just an update - got the miner replaced through the reseller and the new one works perfectly Smiley
Bought a second one too, which is also great.

my small bitcoin setup right now  Smiley

pretty nice.

However I would swap the fan / sticks position so it blows on the part of the heatsink with the fins and directs airflow to both sticks.

currently your drok/USB doctor thing is kinda blocking airflow to the lower stick I think.

No I didnt. That helps? O_O ill try asap.

Also, do you have the bitshopper.de version or version from novak/sidehack?

Basically, it was necessary to make them start hashing.

I have the North American versions.

I am having the very same problems as Arnette99. I got the bitshopper.de versions, using windows 10 I can see them in cgminer when I connect them WHILE the cgminer is running (if I connect them before, it crashes after a little while after startup).

zadig driver installed,
zlib1 present
tried bfgminer, without any luck
both miners in USB2 ports on PC.
cgminer 4.9.2.

it says no hashes, then restarting, then failure - zombie, then the cycle repeats.

Please help :/

Did you try unplugging and replugging them while cgminer is running?

I run my 2 sticks on Windows10 with no problems at all.

Everything has been very straightforward and the sticks always perform wonderfully.

I wish I could. I am on remote desktop 100km away and I need to wait till weekend to get my hands on the miners. However, I am determined to make them mine during this weekend =)

that would be a lot of hassle.

Can you try to boot from a Linux CD/DVD/USB and try there ?

Are you trying cgminer-gekko-ver2 or the first version? First one didn't work with the bitshopper sticks.

But then again, it's probably something to do with windows 10, I think everyone who has tried to run them under 10 has had some kind of trouble.

I have the new version of cgminer from first post, tried running as admin, running in compa mode. Nothing helps. Thinking about downgrading to windows 7...

just a quick thought:

maybe the people have problem with windows 10 should create a .bat file and run it in compatibility mode xp/7 ?

I don't think it's going to make a difference but it's worth a shot ?

Curmudgeonly hardware guy
Second leg from the anything doesn't matter a lot. There's a corner pin not connected to the rest on each one that needs to be connected, but the other three pins on that side are all common and the four on the opposite side are common.

Now the funny part, had 1 stick just stop hashing a couple days ago and can't get it to start hashing again.

Checked voltage (just tried setting it down to 0.560mV and just went up to 0.774mV) and looked at everything I can see without pulling the heat-sink off.
Even checked it with the dork usb meter, got 5.06V, but was only getting about a 0.04A reading (maybe because it wasn't hashing?).

About the only thing I can see, is it looks like maybe one of the legs on the 0902NS by the usb plug might not have got enough solder, but can't be sure (eyes ain't as good as they used to be)?

Even did a fresh install of gekko-ver2 on the desktop and tried running it

And pulled it, hot plugged a working 1 into same port)

Working 1 starts hashing, so port and power is good.

Is there a easy way to check if the leg on to 0902NS is making contact (with out shorting and burning something up?)? It would be the second leg from the left on the side by the R47 with the usb male pointing away from you.

Like I said, it hashed up until a couple days ago, ever since I got it from the second batch order.

So more on improving cooling for my 6 gekkos.

I've ordered 2 of the following heatsink:

I plan to attach 3 sticks side by side on each, they have higher fins and they're orientated properly for my current cooling setup.

What do you think ?

Now I'm wondering if I should re use screws to secure the sticks or if thermal pad would be good enough....

you have me thinking I have an extra heatsink from an avalon6 hash board that burned.

I wonder if I can attach it to my sticks.

well, I've ordered some thermal pads so as soon as I receive the heatsink (it may be a while i got them from aliexpress...and they've not been expedited yet) I'll let you know Smiley

this is so far the best space vs cooling compromise I've thought of while keeping my current plexiglas cooling box :p

is this in a powered hub or a unpowered hub ? sounds kinda like a lil setup issues unless its only 1 stick thats not working i would suggest talking with sidehack and novak there the manufactures of the sticks and listen to them
I have tried the stick directly into a usb 3.0 port, and also with a 7 port usb 2.0 powered hub (3.5A adapter). I have tried on 3 seperate PC's now.
