to be honest gambling activity is an activity that many people hide for several reasons, moreover there are social laws that claim that women who gamble are not fit to be housewives. the woman you told about did something good because she didn't gamble and respected her husband not to gamble, but maybe it's different for women out there, many of them gamble alone without their partners knowing or they gamble with their partners (each couple has a different way of maintaining their family relationship).

Most of the gambler in my region are all women because my country have no restriction to gambling and our national football and other sport team are all made of female member and our male team are really under performing and this has given women the boldness to engage in sports bets and other gambling games without anything to worry about.

There are also lots of female gamblers in our area. Most of them are silent gamblers since we all know the judgement that they may experience once people would know that they're into gambling. As for me, women is better at focusing when it comes to remote jobs as well as gambling. They even have a higher self control when it comes to spending since they are skilled when it comes to budgeting.
There might be a fewer number of female gamblers compared to men simply because most women nowadays are too busy with lots of things such as taking care of their kids, chores and a lot more while some of them are afraid to take the risks since they know how gambling could ruin their lives and their families. I must say that women have a higher sense of responsibility than men that's why they aren't too much into gambling.

That's hard to see it being changed. There's still this masculinity figure from men and that belief is okay to do such things as gambling. And as for the women, gambling isn't really for them.

Gender discriminations still depends on how the society looks on it and what kind of people are speaking about it.

Women could actually gamble because there's no exception for them in this, the way forward that have brought us on this together is the differences we had in the rate at which our women gamble to that which men do, there's no government law or regulation that can allow men to gamble and disallowed women for same purpose, women chose this path themselves as a decision not to be actively involved in gambling, while the bold ones take it to the social media to show the world they are gamblers and support gambling.

If you say that women are "becoming involved into gambling just lately" then you must be 100+ years old and from the times when women were not allowed to vote or enter same building as men can. I think what @Odusko was saying is referring to the past actually. Those times they women were not allowed to do certain things with women. In Africa for example, there was a time when a girl child was not sent to school, a time when the boy child is preferred to the female child. The boy child was sent to school and the female wasn't because of the excuse that she would marry outside the family and become the "property " of the husband family and whatever proceed to her as a result of her educational standard would go to the husband and husband family. I have also heard that kind of stories from other countinent. I have heard some countries also recently allowed their women to start driving, go to same school with men. At least every countinent had their own premordial stories including for gambling but all those have gone while some countries are still racing to meet up with the pace setters.
