Even without this research or hypothesis, it has always been clear that women gamblers are way lesser than men,
Right, it's what i observed here in my place too but believe me or not, women that gambles are heavy gamblers, they might be lesser in number than boys but they sure gambles much. The one who usually plays mahjong are those rich-looking kind old ladies here lmao. Card games for entertaining with smaller bets are men, it start the get heated when a woman start betting large. Also, in age observance, men/boys who gambles have no age limit i mean there are lot of young ones to old ones, while i usually observe in girls/women are in middle age and old ones.
Not in all instances. I have a female friend who gambles but she's not taking the risk too much. They are more conscious of losing in an instant so atleast they'd be betting small amounts for them to play more and to play longer which would give them more chance to win. I've compared it with my playing style wherein I am testing my luck most of the time by bettinf huge amount expecting for higher return. It does depend on the individual whether to play with a 'phase' or not. All I know is that gender is not an important variable in gambling simply because there's no certainty of winning and that also means that all of us are prone of both losing and winning.

Even without this research or hypothesis, it has always been clear that women gamblers are way lesser than men, like I mentioned in my previous comment, here in my country, women who gamble in the society are regarded as useless, waywardish, and if the woman is still a young unmarried lady, such a lady will hardly find a serious man to marry.
Overall, women are heavily stigmatized when it comes to gambling, but then, no more of such this days since online gambling have become really popular, most women can now gamble in peace, and no one in the society, not even a family member will know the lady is into gambling.

Yup that's what I am seeing even in my neighborhood they are men playing cards and some illegal gambling. But when it comes to mahjong here in our place more older women is playing maybe it is by the influence of our past eras wherein only privilege women are allowed to enter casino or play with their amigas. But I agree there's a lot of men playing, maybe that is because the interest of women is different from what is the interest of men, we all know that we are different in mindset and way of life.
Most of the traditional gambling in my place are also a women gambler, but its hard to tell that they are growing in numbers since many are also playing secretly. Maybe men are more open to share their gambling activities as they are more exposed to different kind of gambling and on casinos. There are difference between men and women as a gambler and for me, women are more emotional when it comes to gambling while men are too serious on trying to make money in gambling.

Do you think the results of the research above are correct?

I know that the number of women involved in gambling is very small because in some countries, people's views of female gamblers are still very bad and they are considered dirty and unfit to be a wife. maybe the results of this research can be used by gambling business owners in developing their business.
This is the first time I've heard of this theory, it's very interesting, thank you for posting it but unfortunately the article don't share a link toward the research report they are talking about. Do you know the reference of this paper please (or someone else) ? I'm curious to understand how they've discovered and assessed this hypothesis and if their work is reliable or not, and only apply to local people, or if the same phenomenon is observed in other countries.

Stereotypically, gender is also cited as one of the reasons why people like to gamble. One of the research findings shows that women tend to prefer percentage-odds-based games and men tend to prefer skill-based games.

For example, poker, from a man's point of view is considered a skill-based gamble. While women see it as a game of calculating the odds.

In gambling, generally, women don't like it when others see them lose. Girls probably prefer slot machines because no one sees players win or lose.

Gambling with slot machines is often a personal experience free of guilt or shame. While the men are not like that.

According to research, when a man loses a gamble, there's a machismo attached to him saying, "Yeah, I lost £500, but I can afford it."

And when you win big, guys like it to be exposed right away. Because, they consider this as part of the skill.

This difference in reasons does not necessarily indicate whether men prefer to gamble than women. Women who like to gamble or men who like to gamble are both related to the courage to take risks.

For different reasons, people who like to gamble see it as fun and for reasons that are more complex than just economics.

When I first came here where I live now for work some years ago,in a small Western Balkan country I immediately was surprised by the big number of casino places and lotto clubs, they even had a clone name of Caesar Palace which in my honest review they had done it really well with free snacks and drinks as long as you would play a minimum of 20 dollars.

This was one of the big casinos and men were massively playing there however also women came there occasionally and I did not see a big difference in behavior between men and women except men are always more and this is natural,so most likely that research has some truth in it.
Just speaking alone from experience you could really say that  the machismo when it comes to men gambling is really there, but not especially hwne a gambler doesn’t have a big bankroll. In my country. people will probably sweat profusely upo ng losing that much money in one go, but at the same time you’d see them gambling again cause in their heads either a “I can regain those losses anyway” or a “I can afford the loss” is playing which even drives them to gamble more. Not so sure about the behaviors of women in gambling but I can say pretty much that they takena lore relaxed approach with gambling compared to the borderline competitive approach that male gamblers take.

This probably comes back to the traditional gender rolls which have only really started to change in the last 20-30 in the most developed countries, but are changing much more slowly in certain other countries. In the past women have often been paid less, so have to be much more careful with their income and are more sensible when it comes to gambling. There is also a lot of control imposed upon them in some countries and religions, which can prevent them having the same amount of freedom as men in such societies. These can be powerful factors and it's probably a good thing as well, because they seem less susceptible to wasting money and often have families as their main priority.

I think gender would be irrelevant to the style or approach of any gambler. Reading the cited research made me think that it would probably be because of the type of gambling project they are into. Take this as an example, if most women plays slot more that men, then statistically women would really be taken the data as thinking in probabilities. If most men plays poker or sports betting more than women, (which most of the time base on skill) then it is just that based on statistics men gamble based on skill.

I also think that gender has nothing to do with it , I have always seen that some of the people who play the most are men and there are very few Women , but I think that there are some women who want to play but are ashamed that they look at casinos, because people will always think that if they are in a casino they are people who are addicted and Women always take care of that type of comment, so the ideal solution for them is online casinos, that's why everything is There is always a large presence of women in casinos, the only thing is that these statistics are difficult to obtain , only that the casinos can Provide them.

Decades ago women were never seen publicly involved gambling as it is today and if you were to see anyone it was like she's nothing but a tomboy but today the account is different as we now have a good number of women tagging along with the men competitively in gambling houses. And it's naturally that women are afraid of being seen as losers in whatever they do so it's no surprising to me that the research raised that point concerning them in gambling too.  And most of the women I have converse with in one of the many gambling house in my area gives much credence to the odds rather than spending time doing critical analysis before taking decision. And when I asked they said it's easier that way than trying to be skillful about it.

That's one reason but I would argue that there's another major reason why there are less women who gamble on skill-based games even in countries that are more open to both genders. Most women cannot control their emotion and that clouds their judgement. A lot of them would play the game based on their emotion and not based on logic.

That's right, as far as I know Islam, Christianity, Hinduism & Buddhism, including Jews or Christians they have a bible or word from their god about the prohibition of gambling, not only for women, maybe for all adherents there is a prohibition against gambling.

Talking about women involved in gambling, indeed it is something that is bad to look at, many of them are considered negative, but we can't also look at all of them negatively, while they can take care of themselves I think it's not a problem, but still bad views haunt them.

maybe the results of this research can be used by gambling business owners in developing their business.
What does this have to do with the owner of the gambling industry, I don't think the research has anything to do with it.

Casino owners are free to employ women as waitresses in their casinos, it's common for us to see, every online or offline casino must have women in it. Regardless they bet or not there.

This will be something that will definitely differ from everyone's view of gambling that women do. I have never done research on this, but it is possible that it could be true as long as it is where the research is done. I myself rarely or have never seen women gamble in person (definitely in my environment) so indeed men dominate gambling. Where I live, most women are only housewives, so they don't have any income from their own work, whatever their husbands are responsible for.
I accept that opinion, that women have more fear of losing money compared to men, I will give a simple example, what I see is that women are usually better at managing finances than men, yes, that's from my personal experience.

I think I agree with the research because most women that I know that gambles are interested in percentage odds games. They always feel they can win because they're lucky and sometimes it favors them and they win but other times it doesn't go in their favor but still they love chance games.

While the guys prefer to let their skills and the knowledge they have about the sport help them win the bets and I believe that's why many men are into sport betting because they have a higher percentage of winning since they understand the game very well and know who might win.

The percentage of woman betting on sport games are small instead they're interested in games like slots that everyone has the same percentage or chance of winning like because you don't need skills to win this type of gamble but some women still like sport betting.
Men may feel they know more about sports, so they choose sports betting when gambling. But some play gambling games based on luck rather than sports betting because they think they can win it. But some women also like sports betting because there are women who love football to the point of knowing the players of each team by heart, and that's rare. But that percentage is just a number that will surely change as the popularity of gambling grows so that it will attract more women to gamble in secret.

Definitely true. When women does have financial capabilities, they can have the freedom they want. They don't even need men besides them anymore. This is evident to rich families and women are not dependent on their husbands.

Various reason for womens gambling. Family issues are often over think by women and you can compare this to a rebel child trying to make a point. Gambling women must be different reasons too.

Family responsibility is not meant to be the woman's job,  at least the man should make full responsibility for the family because the man is configured to chase the risk and the woman is to take care of the home domestically and also pursue any career that will not interfere with the primary responsibilities so this is the difference between the man and a woman when it comes to responsibility handling in the family.

Gambling is meant for the men and not women and women are only engage in it in low percentages and their only gamble for fun just to ease the pressure.

Everyone is free to give his own interpretation on women interaction with gambling but what we will all arrived at is that we cannot compare the rate of women participation to that of men in gambling, maybe we can give some reasons like how women were believed to be weaker vessels unlike men in most cases, their dedication and commitments to the house and the family especially in taking care of the children at home, lastly maybe our women may not have that boldness of taking risk associated to gambling because some depends on their earnings to take care of the family.
Countries where women are self-reliant, i.e. those who work for their own livelihood and can take decisions, may have slightly higher numbers of female gamblers but that doesn't mean that the number of female gamblers are more then male. In some countries where women work as housewives or mother it must be difficult for them to gamble because they cannot provide financial support. In any aspect of gambling I think women lag behind men.
The truth is that studies like the one provided by the OP are very subjective, as every country and sometimes different provinces on the same country have a different culture.

So assuming the findings of the study are correct, this is only true for the place in which the study was realized, if they tried the same experiment in a different country their results could be completely different, meaning that studies like that are not very useful when it comes to explaining something as complex as human behavior.

IMO, when it comes to money, women have a different point of view. It's not about losing but more of regret about even a wasted dollar or a cent.
Well, there are many women gamblers as well and they have their own reasoning why they're playing. Losing is part of gambling but the regret of spending the money in gambling as wasted might depend if you have a family of your own already or still single who can spend your money without guilt.

We, men, do not budge with a $1000 loss but it becomes our trophy to tell other men that we can tolerate losing that kind of amount and yet it's like nothing to us. Is gambling for women? Yes and no. There are women who think like us when it comes to their pride.
I think it's because in the eyes of many, women are not supposed to be playing and should stay at home attending to household chores and taking care of the kids. But it's different now, women can do everything like what men do. Anyway, gambling is for everyone regardless of your gender as long as you're in legal age to play and able to bear the fact that you can possibly lose your money.
