The research is correct in attaching winning and losing to machismo, there is a level of machismo if the man is gambling and they tend to attract the opposite sex and admiration from the same sex, not everyone can gamble and sustain it or can boast that he lose but its doesn't matter to him.

If a man can do this sustain and boast then he is displaying machismo, Women do not want to display their winning and losing and they tend to be conservative that is my opinion I have women friends who gamble and they are conservative when it comes to losing and winning they prefer to keep this to themselves or circle of friends.

The article is saying the truth, both men and women are involved in gamble and as long as it is gambling risk is part of it. It is noticed that men are more into gambling that women because men are more skillful in games than women.

In my area, when I go to an offline casino with my friends,if there are gamblers everywhere, you will only see few women among us due to the fact that women think less on gambling activities. Women are after how to look beautiful and looking good as their hobby. All these distracts them away from gambling.

Stereotypically, gender is also cited as one of the reasons why people like to gamble. One of the research findings shows that women tend to prefer percentage-odds-based games and men tend to prefer skill-based games.

For example, poker, from a man's point of view is considered a skill-based gamble. While women see it as a game of calculating the odds.

In gambling, generally, women don't like it when others see them lose. Girls probably prefer slot machines because no one sees players win or lose.

Gambling with slot machines is often a personal experience free of guilt or shame. While the men are not like that.

According to research, when a man loses a gamble, there's a machismo attached to him saying, "Yeah, I lost £500, but I can afford it."

And when you win big, guys like it to be exposed right away. Because, they consider this as part of the skill.

This difference in reasons does not necessarily indicate whether men prefer to gamble than women. Women who like to gamble or men who like to gamble are both related to the courage to take risks.

For different reasons, people who like to gamble see it as fun and for reasons that are more complex than just economics.

I know that the number of women involved in gambling is very small because in some countries, people's views of female gamblers are still very bad and they are considered dirty and unfit to be a wife. maybe the results of this research can be used by gambling business owners in developing their business.

I do not wish to be viewed upon as sexist but I think that study is pretty much spot on from any realists perspective. Women hate being embarrassed in public and they would view losing in public as humiliation. Men are less calculating than women and just jump into any risk, headfirst without a plan or care in the world.  Women are more careful, that's for sure.

I have never heard of women being called dirty or unfit for gambling though. That might pertain to gambling addicts regardless of gender

If I'm not mistaken, it seems that there has been a thread that discusses the gender of women and men in gambling, but I think maybe it's not completely the same, there's no need for actual research. Women who like to gamble are usually women who don't want to work and always think fast to get money from machines. slots, as far as I have seen in my country there are almost a few women who really like slot games even in the office where I work.

But it's also true that a woman who likes gambling isn't fit to be a wife because of course even though I'm a gambler I don't want to have a wife who has the same hobbies as me, at least someone can control one of them, for example my wife often reminds me to stop gambling when it's time, so talking about gender issues, almost the average man prefers to gamble than women.  Wink

I think the research will surely vary and it may not be accurate at some point considering the psychology of a women in gambling can't be compared to that of men, they are surely not that alike. We may see women being ethical while gambling and men are not but that doesn't really mean they always win.

Everyone is free to give his own interpretation on women interaction with gambling but what we will all arrived at is that we cannot compare the rate of women participation to that of men in gambling, maybe we can give some reasons like how women were believed to be weaker vessels unlike men in most cases, their dedication and commitments to the house and the family especially in taking care of the children at home, lastly maybe our women may not have that boldness of taking risk associated to gambling because some depends on their earnings to take care of the family.

In the research, it is said that 'this difference in reasons does not necessarily indicate whether men prefer to gamble than women. Women who like to gamble or men who like to gamble are both related to the courage to take risks'. It is obvious that men are courageous than women. Men like to explore than women. It indirectly means that men are more into gambling. Even in my country that gambling is allowed, out of 10 men, hardly will you see 1 women that is gambling.

I do not think gambling sites are looking for gender traffic on their website, what they are after are total traffic irrespective of the gamblers to be men or women. But generally men gamble than women.

But I do not know if the research is totally accurate or not though

When I first came here where I live now for work some years ago,in a small Western Balkan country I immediately was surprised by the big number of casino places and lotto clubs, they even had a clone name of Caesar Palace which in my honest review they had done it really well with free snacks and drinks as long as you would play a minimum of 20 dollars.

This was one of the big casinos and men were massively playing there however also women came there occasionally and I did not see a big difference in behavior between men and women except men are always more and this is natural,so most likely that research has some truth in it.
