Bitcoin FTW!
It's been prototyped! Sidehack's got a small podlike miner that hashes without fans at around 100ghs. More information can be found in Hardware. If you're anything like me you'll absolutely love this one Smiley

http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr_TERMINUS

Whoops I must have forgot to mention I have a new pod miner in development, the Terminus R808. It still uses BM1384 (8 of 'em, hence the name) that should run 100GH off a 12V3A brick and 140GH from a 5A brick. Haven't fully tested yet but it should run that 100GH without a fan (turn it on its side for improved convection), and it has adjustable core voltage and built-in 80C thermal shutoff. At four inches square, it's the smallest not-stick Bitcoin miner made in what, two years?

Everything works except the main Vcore power is misbehaving so I'm redoing that part from scratch. The new layout is already done and I'll be sending off for prototype PCBs tomorrow. It also already works with VH's current cgminer build.

My test unit (running off a hacked external buck) is hashing away at 250MHz (110GH) as seen in the link above.

Well, ok... Teaser Tongue
Though I *do* have a 1.2kw ATX PSU under the desk feeding my R4 office heater and since the big PC 24pin connector only has a run-jumper in it, nice source for the (multiple) 5v to feed the ports and 12v for the hubs USB circuits via the existing regulator in it to run the hacked hub...

just wire it up to external 5V. If you want to power it with external 12V it'll explode because of all the 6.3V caps and also the buck controller is specifically made for USB applications so it only works between 4 and 5.5 volts.
Well, actually I suppose I could hack into the other Plugable I have cut the traces from the regs to ports and  feed the jacks from a 5v supply..

Was pretty sure the sticks were 5v only, ergo the ? on 12v. and ja, yer right about providing a high current jack. Ja the stick would love it but rather getting carried away... Wink

NFW - no, I didn't ever consider that. Why I didn't ever consider that is because it becomes no longer a USB stick miner. The 2Pac is already kinda large compared to most stickminers, but once you make it bigger by adding jumpers and a barrel jack and then redo the entire buck to for 5V or 12V input you might as well just add a few more chips and call it a pod miner. I've already made a stick with outrageous overclockability, but there's no point trying to make a stick no longer a stick while still being a stick. If you want to power it with external 5V, just wire it up to external 5V. If you want to power it with external 12V it'll explode because of all the 6.3V caps and also the buck controller is specifically made for USB applications so it only works between 4 and 5.5 volts.

no where that I know.

I have 4 or 5 of them.

Pm me your address I will toss 2 into a flat rate and ship to you.

@sidehack

the bridge  fits this hub  from klintay  I have the silver version

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eyeboot-19-Port-40A-USB-3-0-Hub-110-240V-2-amps-per-port-/351720554389?

If I mail one to you could you build some bridges  that would fit    the 19 port  and a little smaller to fit the 49 port

I did order a new usb hub with more amp per port.  Wink But could be nice to get these from sidehack if possible.

BTW, as requested by Sidehack, I will create a new Canada Group Buy!  Grin

Ya know, looking at that USB bridge, something to be careful of is power hubs that use multiple 5v regulators to feed the ports. eg. my Plugable 7port 60w charging hub. Uses 3 regulators; 1 for ports 1&2, 1 for ports 3&4, and 1 for ports 5-7.

Point is, unless the system is setup for it regulators do not take kindly to be connected in parallel. Just as with mixing different PSU's to feed one hash board they will fight each other...

Just make sure the big honkin' hub either uses just 1 12v-to- 5v regulator or better yet a big 5v PSU or if it uses multiple regulators. If multiple, only bridge between ports fed from the same regulator.

Along this line... @ Sidehack, ever think about putting a 3 pin power select pin header on these? Keep USB connection for the coms side but for the Vcore regulator perhaps something like left-to-center jumped for USB powered or center-to-right jumped for using external 5v (or 12v?) via a barrel connector? Solves the whole USB connection limitation I'd think.

The next bulk batch is shipping, and I'll be getting out most of the rest of the small-queue orders right behind it. That'll put us right about 960 or so on the current batch of green sticks, which for a batch of 1000 and considering failures and ones needing more extensive diagnosis is about right. The last few small-queue orders that came in I believe were alerted they might not get filled until the head of the second batch, which should start manufacture about April 11th.

The last green sticks are chipped and should be done with SMD population by tomorrow. I expect bitshopper PCBs to arrive any day now, but I'm not too confident since I got a tracking number 5 days ago and as of yet the shipper only acknowledges the creation of a label.

The downtime between the end of this batch (after bitshoppers) and the start of the next will be used on shop maintenance and a lot of design and prototyping.

Also, I have two more seconds black sticks available, first come first serve. They're the last of the seconds batch. All other PCBs have been stripped or slated for recycling.

There was an error with the PCB so I had to reorder, cost a few weeks. The new boards should be in this week. I'm not sure whether I'll be here next week or not, but if I am they should be pretty much done by end of next week.

Any info about to get some in Europe?

Bitshopper had no stock a few days ago and his website is down.

I'm looking for about 10 pieces, any option to get them from somewhere else?

MacEntyre hasnt had his delivery yet as far as im aware.  Website is probably down to add the info for the new stock.

Actually they just got bought up, so I'm all out.

Oh well ill have to wait for MacEntyre to get his then.

black sticks in US are collection items, perhaps,...there are probably just around 20-25 of them altogether; only sidehack knows the exact numbers. In collecting, rare items (like prints with an imperfection) have more value...eventually. I've got a couple... and they work just fine  Tongue

Similar thing with the original green gekkos. I only managed to get one from the US when phillipma1957 sold some of his.

I have updated the order queue. Right now i'm prepping for two big bulk orders. Benchwork testing is far outpacing final assembly and burn-in, but I reckon that's not necessarily a bad thing since that's where most of the problems and unknown time complexity comes in.

I'm waiting on a response back from one of the bulk purchasers who only made a down payment; if he doesn't respond soon he'll get exactly as many sticks as he's paid for and then I'll catch up on small queue. Pretty soon I'll have to jump over to Bitshopper sticks.

Speaking of, as of right now I still have three of those black sticks for sale if anyone wants one. There are two more that need more testing and then they're gone. All the pending black-stick orders will get shipped out today.
