The Bundesliga may be the only top European league that will start its season late, but most of the German teams are playing in a different competition, the DFB Pokal. Last night, Vincent Kompany's squad won a landslide victory against SSV Ulm with a score of 0-4 without reply.
Bundesliga is always the last club to start the league and also the last club to end the season, but they have started other domestic games as you mentioned DFB Cup first round, Bayern Munich deserved to win by a big score because their opponents are weak clubs.

Next week the Bundesliga starts and Bayern Munich will face Wolfsburg at home I think Bayern Munich will be the favorite to win this match if look at the odds.

There are fewer matches than in other European leagues, hence they frequently delay the start of the season. Bayern Munich are the odds-on favourites to win the match, therefore I don't believe Wolfsburg will be difficult to defeat; they will do anything to win the Bundesliga trophy this season. They will begin the season in strong form, as seen by their performance in the DFB Pokal, where they do well and all of their players are fit, and the new coach will not try to lose his first game of the season, so Bayern Munich will focus well and win games. Bayern Leverkusen is still in terrific form, as I see they are continuing winning other matches and win other trophys. Bayern Munich must perform well this season and try to stop Leverkusen because Xabi Alonso is a very experienced coach who, I believe, is better than Munich's coach because he has more trophies. But let's see how the season goes and who has a chance to win it again.

Bayer Leverkusen has tried to make it to a trophy, but it was not easy, although we know with Alonso they are covered.
That is why I still didn’t panic when the game ended up to the penalty shootout because that is what I was praying for; if not, they will have lost this chance of a trophy.
But Grimaldo gave them this chance to penalty shootout when he got his goal in the 88th minute, and everyone thinks Bayer Leverkusen will lose the game. but know all have been history; they have gotten their trophy. I also see the spirit of the unbeaten in them, so we expect to see more performances, even if it will be more than the last season.
Looks like that Leverkusen will be continue this season where they have ended the last one with scoring goals at the last Minutes and dont lose.
The goal from Patrick Schick i guess was the one that have given Leverkusen some extra motivation for the penalty shootout.
Making such an comeback with only 10 Players since they got an red card in the 37 Minute is awesome and the win is earned.
Everyone's expecting Leverkusen to continue with same form as the previous season, well it's understandable since they won the previous seasons's title and they just proved that they could still contend well this season by beating Stuttgart in the DFL Super Cup final, it's a very good Morale booster for them ahead of the new season and Xabi Alonso priority is to make sure that they remain in good shape to deliver good results, of course he'll be proud of the result against Stuttgart cause his boys fought till the end, they didn't give up till it got to the shootout and won it, this is another big victory for Xabi Alonso he's added another trophy to his record as manager and i wonder why the likes of Real Madrid won't go after him when he decides to leave Leverkusen. Well, I'm among those who thinks Bayern Munich might still have a tough time in winning the league this season, I'm not underestimating them, they're one of the top contending team in Bundesliga but Leverkusen looks like a team with a more better chance.

All eyes are on Leverkusen's success in winning the DFL Super Cup final. Yes, it is very natural because this is the first official match in Germany before entering the Bundesliga this season. Talking about the Bundesliga, this season the opening match will be Monchengladbach vs Leverkusen. In that match, Leverkusen is the favorite to win the match and maybe it will be the first match and also start their journey to regain the unbeaten record they achieved last season. But clearly it is not something easy and honestly I personally find it difficult to say they can do it.

Last season, right when the season was about to end, they were always able to score goals at the end of the match that kept them from losing. We can see that again in this final match, where they were also able to score goals in the final minutes even though they only played with 10 men. Leverkusen is the most anticipated team this season, everyone wants to see whether they will be able to maintain what they were able to do last season or not. Xabi Alonso must have realized the expectations of the team he is currently handling, so he should have prepared as well as possible what they need this season. He also wants to show that he can consistently maintain the game from season to season.

Leverkusen have won the German Super Cup and it was hell of a work honestly.  Smiley  Because they got a red card in the first half but this still didn't stop them. Even though Stuttgart got ahead, they came back and won by penalties. Xabi Alonso is continuing on his magical run. Starting the season with trophy must be feeling superb for the whole team and the fans.

It is good to see that the same spirit exists among the players. Maybe another unbeaten run is about to start...  Tongue
Congratulations to Alonso for his first trophy this season, to be honest I expected them to win in regulation time, but it was the red card in the first half that changed this game. I didn't watch the match, but I see that there were a lot of fouls and a lot of yellow cards, which means that the match was important for the teams. And Stuttgart needed just a few minutes to win this match, and the penalty shootout is a game of luck, and Bayer was luckier here. In any case, this is a good start for Bayer.

First, I would like to congratulate Leverkusen who managed to win this final match and become champions. This will be the beginning where they might achieve the same success as last season, or even better.
They were so calm after playing with only 10 men since the 37th minute, even though Stuttgart could control the game and keep attacking but they were able to play focused so that Stuttgart had a hard time breaking through their defense. At first I thought it might be their defeat after Stuttgart could score a goal early in the second half, but they kept trying and working hard so that they could score a goal back so that the score became 2-2 and that lasted until the end.
I saw that they had the mentality, because it is not easy to play with 10 men while the opposing team played with a full number of players. If they did not have a good mentality, I think Stuttgart would be able to beat them and maybe even score more than 2 goals.

This achievement at the start of the new season is a big boast of confidence to the boys to both in their domestic league and, the champion's league especially which I believe they will shine with the quality of coach they have in Alonso.

Bayer Leverkusen showed a fighting spirit of it's not over until it's over, they didn't allowed their one man down in number to affect their performance. The coordination was still intact that they managed to get a comeback taking the game to penalty kicks to eventually beat Stuttgart to the trophy. What a way to start the season!
This Bayern Leverkusen side is actually proving that they aren't a one season wonder, because initially, most fan and pundit alike thought that their season of wonder would ends this season, that they wouldn't be able to replicate their last season form, but by the look of things, nothing has changed in this Bayern Leverkusen team, they are still as relentless as they are known for, just look at the kind of performance they put in yesterday with a man down, it's very clear to me now that they are actually not going away any time soon, and Bayern Munich needs to be ultra good this season to be able to knock Bayern Leverkusen off that path of dominance they are headed to.
But for them to continue in the way they are right now, the hierarchy of Bayern Leverkusen must do everything in their power to retain the services of all their key players, so that the rythme of the team will not be disrupted.
Indeed, Bayer Leverkusen are now in the front burner as threat to Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga thereby pushing teams like Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig etc to the back bench in the league. And true, Beyer Leverkusen vibrancy is not going to fade anytime time in as much as they retain and maintain the same players then
also  bringing in more quality players to add in building the team's form.

And as for Alonso I hope he stays and continue to enjoy his stay in the club for more seasons because he is the engine room behind all the magic. The motivation for the squad is there with him still in the club and I think many players would only want to leave by virtue of Alonso leaving . That been said, undeniably the extraordinary performance of Bayer Leverkusen last season has increased the competition in bundlesliga distorting the dominance of Bayern Munich making the league more exciting and interesting.

Honestly I never thought it would still end up in their (Bayer Leverkusen) favor after the red card, these guys knows how to keep that composure especially whenever they under pressure and the manager is really the man behind their success, they are just like a family, what can their opponent do to put Bayer Leverkusen away? They don't give up and I see them as a team that whenever they're losing 3-0 is still not over, they'd come back and draw the game or even win, so loving the team they have become since Xabi Alonso took over.
Some teams would panic and also lost the game but they fought till the end, at some point I begin to ask if Xabi Alonso and his boys can replicate what they did last season not only winning the title but winning games without stopping or minding who they're facing and if it gets to the title I think they're the target because other teams are looking forward to remove them from the picture before moving to get it, the likes of Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Leipzig and the others but I know this season is going to be another one that will keep us guessing. For Bayer Leverkusen I believe they can still get another trophy this season, congratulations to them.

Honestly I thought Stuttgart would win the match. Because the performance of Stuttgart's players was mixed. And the match was somewhat dominated by Stuttgart's players. More importantly, after Leverkusen's Terrier was red-carded in the 37th minute, Leverkusen had an even tougher task to fend off Stuttgart. The first half ended 1-1, and Terrie received a red card.

Stuttgart had 66% of the ball. The team also created plenty of attacking and scoring opportunities. But in the end, it was Xabi Alonso's match tactics that Stuttgart were defeated by. Xabi Alonso understood well that Leverkusen would concede more goals if they played an attacking strategy with 10 players. So in the second half, Leverkusen played a defensive strategy and played very carefully. Leverkusen conceded the second goal in 63 minutes. But in the 88th minute Patrik's goal equalized the match. Leverkusen eventually won the penalty shootout 4-3. The Leverkusen team was lucky, and Xabi's match strategy was also very good.

That would have been the end point for Bayer Leverkusen, Stuttgart's players should have made use of that opportunity in that second half by getting another goal, they were outstanding against a side that played unbeaten last season and I was expecting an easy win for Bayer Leverkusen but the opposition team came prepared but they couldn't get it completely. I always wonder what's the secret behind all these coming from behind and maybe win the game by Leverkusen, I'm just so confused how they (Leverkusen) do it, I have a feeling they can continue from where they stopped last season but not where Atalanta left them.
The risk Alonso took was enough to say anything can happen because he had to pour out his cards and say anything that wants to happen is on him and it favored him. This man should be given the best coach of the season if possible for for 2 years in a row, Alonso is the best.

The game was not funny for them, but they really tried their best. Bayer Leverkusen has tried to make it to a trophy, but it was not easy, although we know with Alonso they are covered. I also see the spirit of the unbeaten in them, so we expect to see more performances, even if it will be more than the last season.

But it wasn't surprising that Stuttgart gave them a damn hard time. Keep in mind that Stuttgart played an amazing last season and it never seemed to be a coincidence only. I expect both teams to play another great season although it is not very likely that Leverkusen can continue the same way they finished last season. The opponents will be prepared and I doubt that Bayern Munich will struggle as hard as they struggled last season. It could be an interesting race between Leverkusen, Stuttgart, Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig. I don't really see any other team that could pull off a surprise, but let's see.
Let me narrow down the teams a bit more and I think we will watch a match between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. I don't think the other teams have much of a chance. Leverkusen started the year with the championship but had a hard time winning it. That's why they definitely need to avoid mistakes like the one in this match in their match with Bayern.

Leverkusen did performed below expectations but then the season just started, I know we all wanted more from them, expectations are already pulled up around them but they are starting foo by slowing down our expectations maybe that could ease some pressures for them to continue in the best form the can already but in the mean time, they have a point to start with a d are unbeaten (lol). There was a time I did mentioned that there's a possibility Leverkusen can still retain the trophy this season but it won't come with them dominating the league and may also not come with another unbeaten run so let's lower expectations, I believe today has made that insight clearer than it has been before now.

We can't say Leverkusen was having a bad performance because of Leverkusen having a 2-2 result against Stuttgart. Leverkusen is still a good team and they were known for the comebacks they could usually do I think we are going to see the same good performance from this team in this season.
Other than this we can't forget that Leverkusen and the other teams are still not in a good situation because they are still going through training and this can physical training can make the teams tired and out of good form.

When Terrier received a red card in the 37th minute, Leverkusen lost all discipline in the game. However, when they fell behind later on, I thought they would come back. Schick did not mislead me and when he scored the equalizer, Leverkusen were now more united to win the match. It was a tough match against Stuttgart but in the end they managed to become champions and not lose.
I thought it was all over for Leverkusen when Terrier received a red card in the 37th minute and since then Stuttgart continued to increase the tempo of the game and were able to control the game quite well because of the superior number of players but Schick made us realize again that Leverkusen is very difficult to beat, Schick's goal in the 88th minute made Leverkusen players excited again to win this match through the penalty spot. If we talk about whether Leverkusen deserved or not to win, of course it was very fitting and we also see that Xabi Alonso seems to be successful again this season with Leverkusen because here alone we can see that their performance has improved compared to last season.

Leverkusen have started the season by winning a trophy and that will make them have a high mentality and motivation to repeat their success last season, the Super Cup trophy actually brings together the Bundesliga champions and the DfB Pokal, but because last season Leverkusen managed to win both trophies so making Stuttgart who ended the season as runners up in the Bundesliga entitled to play in the Super Cup this season, Leverkusen showed an impressive performance in that match but in my opinion their performance was still below the standard they showed last season, in that match Leverkusen had to lose one player and Stuttgart managed to take advantage of the advantage in players numbers to take a temporary lead of 2-1 through a quick attack from the left wing, but Leverkusen never-give-up mentality was still very strong so they were able to comeback to equalize the score at 2-2 in normal time, both teams had to determine the winner with a penalty kick and fortunately for Leverkusen, the Stuttgart players failed to take advantage of this opportunity well and at the same time made Leverkusen continue their greatness by winning the championship trophy.

Leverkusen and Alonso have won three domestic titles in the last year so we can say that this year is the best year for them, the new Bundesliga season has started and we are all looking forward to seeing how Leverkusen will stay be able to compete in the Bundesliga title this season with Dortmund and also Munich.

I am not surprised by this result because Leverkusen are still the same as last season, they have a strong mentality so it is quite difficult to beat them even though they are under pressure.
Playing with 10 players and trailing by 1 goal but Leverkusen managed to equalize in the final minutes of the match, I think that is extraordinary and we are back to seeing Leverkusen like last season.

Stuttgart played well because they benefited from the excess number of players after Martin Terrier was sent off in the 37th minute which made everything different so that Stuttgart was quite free to control the match but Xabi Alonso knew what to do to be able to win this match, it was really impressive and I like Leverkusen now.
With this result, Xabi Alonso has dismissed many speculations that said that Leverkusen were not capable like last season.

Just when many of us were worried about Bayer Leverkusen and if they'll be able to continue their impressive performance of last season, they delivered an incredible display tonight against Stuttgart to win the German Super Cup. Bayer Leverkusen with their strong and resilient style of football have once again proven that they can do even more than they last season with that awesome show tonight. Xabi Alonso have instilled in his players the strong spirit to believe in themselves even when they're trailing and that's the kind of mentality you need to succeed as a top club. Can Leverkusen retain the league this season or would Bayern Munich work hard to stop that from happening?
Xabi Alonso led Leverkusen to start the season with the title giving the players greater confidence and certainly having great enthusiasm to reclaim the Bundesliga title like last season.
Actually, I had doubts but Xabi Alonso was able to prove with the same strategy as last season when he could not beat his opponent he would prefer to hold a draw and take a chance in the penalty round.
Leverkusen really surprisingly became a club with a great reputation and quality after Alonso joined Leverkusen and this is a very successful career that deserves to be maintained by Xabi Alonso.
Initially when the Leverkusen player got a red card I was a little worried if I couldn't put up a fight to score again but it turned out that in the 88th minute he managed to score 1 goal to hold a draw at the end of the match and that was great.

Xabi Alonso have instilled in his players the strong spirit to believe in themselves even when they're trailing and that's the kind of mentality you need to succeed as a top club. Can Leverkusen retain the league this season or would Bayern Munich work hard to stop that from happening?
It was not an easy game, especially after Martin Terrier's straight red card. Stuttgart took control of the game and would have won but was denied three times by the woodwork. Bayer Leverkusen, a club that has a history of scoring equalizing goals from the 85th minute and above, leveled up the game in the 87th minute through Patrik Schick's composed finish. Stuttgart deserved to win, but penalty shootout is a game of luck, so they lost after losing two shots by Frans Kraetzig and Silas Mvumpa.

Xabi Alonso showed some level of tactical prowess when he immediately removed Victor Boniface and brought in Germany defender Jonathan Tah immediately after the red card. But Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness took advantage of the red card and introduced Undav and Kraetzig, and this duo kept mounting pressure on the Leverkusen defense. Great work for Xabi and his strong fighting side for winning the German Super Cup for the first time. They have started the unbeaten run this season and we would have to wait to know how far they will go.
