Union Berlin recently infamously lost in the Europa League without scoring a single goal. And yesterday they managed to beat Frankfurt 2-0. Now a really interesting situation in the standings with Dortmund in first place, Bayern in second and Union Berlin in third. I think that for the rest of the season there will be an interesting contest for first place between these clubs.

Dortmund is ahead of Bayern Munich with one point, the point Dortmund has does not guarantee them to win the league. For Bayern Munich to lose in the game it is an advantage for them to try in getting more points. Dortmund should try and improve to be consistent to win the league.

I will say that staying ahead of Munich is just for a particular while
If Dortmund makes use of the chance they have to win and extend to five points above Bayern
The master class from Bayern Leverkusen coach was powerful I love how he changed formation to a five man defensive shape to hold down the goal and prevent Bayern Munich from scoring

Palacios became the man of the match in this match because he successfully executed the 2 penalty kicks that were given to him. but I have to admit that in that match Bayern had a bad attack and defense, So it's no wonder Bayern was defeated by Leverkusen. freiburg vs mainz ended in a draw and it was really bad luck for freiburg because mainz scored a goal in 90 + 6 minutes.

Dortmund No more have any distractions. Their players are all in good condition cuz they are out in all European competitions and can now focus on their local league. This will give them more hands in winning the German Bundesliga.
No doubt, it will be nice to have another name written on the list of Bundesliga champions as we all know that Bayern Munich has been champions for years, but Dortmund doesn't seem good enough to stand the fight even though they now assume the position. I'll still not be surprised if Bayern wins this year's Bundesliga title.

Right now Eric Choupo-Moting and Lucas Hernandez have injuries and can not play for Bayern Munich, this is why they are not very effective anymore they need Eric Choupo-Moting for their play even though they have Sadio Mane it is not enough they really need all the help they can get and yes right now Dortmund has a smooth sailing game against Koln making a massive goal of 6 - 1 win, it was really impressive,

When Bayern took the lead I thought, ok game over. It was nice to see Dortmund at the top for another 24 hours but that's about it.
Now the fight for the championship is more open than in the past 10 years, everything is possible, who would have thought after BVB's terrible first 17 games.

The big breaker will be the 1 vs 2 clash in 2 weeks in Munich. A draw would be really nice, just please BVB, don't lose!! Grin

The result was unexpected for the Munich side to lose against Leverkusen. Leverkusen is by no means a weak team. But the Munich team is very strong. And Munich needed 3 points in this match to regain the top spot in the table. But they failed. The top spot in the table is now occupied by Dortmund.

The performances of both Frankfurt and Union Berlin were erratic. And so I refrained from betting on this match. Union Berlin managed to get the full 3 points in a match after a long time. If the good performance is not continued, the team will not be able to qualify for the Champions League.

Lewandowski is a goal machine and he can convert opportunities to goal at very high conversion rate. He grew up in Dortmund but at Bayern, he made his name as one of the best strikers in the world last 5 years. It is a mutual relationship between Lewandowski and Bayern but by letting he leaving to Barcelona, now Bayern can feel his impacts on their ability to find goals.

At least, Choupo-Moting is not a striker at same level as Lewandowski. Mane got injuries and has yet reclaimed his best performance and more important he is not a classic striker.

This issue together with some injuries make Bayern weaker and give chances to other clubs especially Dortmund. Maybe it is better for Bundesliga if they find a new champion after many years.

That was quite unexpected result from Bayern! A defeat against Leverkusen which isn't playing their best season made Bayern look unstable here.
When you see Bayern playing in Champions League and kicking PSG then losing a simple domestic game whether vs Leverkusen or another easier team, you wonder know what's going on with them.
Bayern lost the first place for Dortmund which had a great game against Koln and defeated them by 6 goals. So Bayern are 1 point behind of Dortmund and 4 points away from Union with only 9 matches left in this season.

Dortmund had a really great week thanks to Leverkusen today. I wasn't waiting for Bayern Munich to lose this game. I even thought that they would win by a close margin. But they just couldn't maintain their score advantage here. Leverkusen scored two penalties and they were also in their lucky day. I didn't like Bayern Munich in defense today.

Leverkusen were comfortable about creating dangerous attacks against them. I know that Bayern Munich are focused on the Champions League more. But this kind of results can cost them the Bundesliga title on one hand.

The best case scenario happened for Borussia Dortmund this week, they won and Bayern lost. I was kinda expecting this, at some point Bayer Leverkusen had to beat Bayern, as they haven't in last seven games. Finally this streak over. Unexpected part was two penalties for Leverkusen but it doesn't really matter, a goal is a goal.
Now hopes are up for Dortmund. Will we see another champion after a decade finally? I hope so. But there are still nine games and the big game after national break will be very important for both teams.
