Bayer Leverkusen have bigger shoes to wear this time around because now their focus is actively divided although last season it was also but this time around it will be the champions league of which they might not be able to Stand most of the top teams there and when you are playing and then you constantly lose games then the form and mentality of the team also deteriorate to a very big extent.
There's nothing different, they were have Europa League in the last season, so it's only change from Europa League to Champions League. The opponents are stronger, but the schedule is same. Looking at their performance, I really doubt they can able to make it to round of 16.

They aren't as strong as in the last season, similar to Napoli.

Seriously, they are also playing a same number of games in this season, as they played last season. If, through that, they are really in good form, I don't think any competition will seriously distract them from other competitions. However, when they decide to focus more on one competition than others, it is possible that it will distract their performance in the others. If last season the reason why Leverkusen was able to achieve two in Germany was because they saw every competition as a great match, and they did their best in every match, both in Bundesliga and Europa matches and other competitions, then Leverkusen should take every match very seriously again this season. That will really help because if they allow the Champions League to distract them, it is possible that they will end the season without any achievements. In fact, they may not even have a good record by the season's end.

Bayern Leverkusen is a very strong club in the Bundesliga and that was well proven by their performance of last season which earn them the Bundesliga title and went as far as the Europa League finals but unfortunately they lost to Atalanta. They are still amongst the team that has the ability to win the Bundesliga title this season despite losing of the crucial matches of the season against RB Leipzig. The season may just have started but even though, they are still one of the best in the league and will fight for the league title to the end just like they’ve always done. The Bundesliga has now become a very competitive league in Europe, everyone is now at their best to win the title or rather finish in the top level to get a qualification to an European championship. So Bayern Leverkusen may not find this season easy as it has always been for them.
They did very well last season because their achievements are very unique and Alonso helped the team to bring back glory into the team; wining the Bundesliga title for the team after several years is a good achievement and this has made the team more successful last season as they are the best team in the Bundesliga last season since they outshined both Bayern Munich and Dortmond.

This season, their performance is going backwards, they didn’t sign any new player this season because they have confidence in there players, and they have started to lose games which means they have already lost the glory they had last season. I don’t think they can win the Bundesliga title this season because Bayern Munich is fully prepared for a better season and Vincent Kompany will do better this season.

The Champions League Competition might have bigger and stronger clubs innit but the UEFA European Europa League Competition has got to be very tough too. Playing football matches on Thursday and then playing on sundays are way stressful than playing on Tuesday/Wednesdays!
There'll be no excuses right now. They should have been prepared for the Champions League Competition already, I believe that they could still come out top of their group in the Champions League Competition. The settings might have changed but we will see, they don't have too many players who have left the club.
The Bundesliga League Competition also is another competition I want to see them win again. They might have started slowly but so much room for improvements from.this Xabi Alonso's side.

It is almost the same number of games and matches but the difference is on different leagues. We all know the difference between Champions league and Europa league. They are the same European competition but of different level of competition. The intensity of the champions league is too high compared to the Europa league, so much is expected from Bayern Leverkusen than they did last season. Also, Bayern leverkusen has not made names and waves in the football industry. Now that they have raised the banner so high, much is expected of them. So, they need to double up their performance this season.

I am actually looking out for Bayern Leverkusen performance this season both in the Bundesliga and in the champions league. Even if they don't get the best results, they will always play good football and have excellent wins.

All I said was based on my perspective, everyone here could have own thoughts on whatever and whoever which shouldn't affects another person's points of view. For the fact i talked about accepting reality of Leverkusen not winning the Bundeslisga does not mean I am all knowing or a future teller but it's my own prediction on whom I find confident to win this season title. I never talked about Leverkusen not being a good contender for the title but I dropped my own prediction  and I believe mine should be respected aswell in as much as what this thread is talking about.

Clearly reading what I said earlier, I never used their losses as a reason as why they won't emerge as the winners, even Munich I predicted to win can not possibly win all their fixtures without getting hampered, so no need dragging what I said.

Well, from the topic  of the thread, it says  Bundesliga prediction meaning the thread is all about making your own opinions. Everyone one can make their predictions which could end up becoming the actual result  of the season. However  I understand what bit bitleap  is talking about, and sincerely speaking, season  just started and I believe most teams will loss form while some will start up really  strong, but the true winners of the season would be easily  determined when the season is getting  to an end. Well, bayern Leverkusen could still come up great as their previous  performance  last season  was brilliant, there is a great possibility that they'll  still qualify  for champions league this season or even win the Bundesliga title this season.

In this thread everyone is free to express their opinions depending on their beliefs and references to any team. I see Leverkusen will remain the favorite team in competing with Bayern Munich even though Leverkusen's record in the Bundesliga was finally broken after losing to Leipzig. This defeat can be said to be very painful because usually they are the ones who make a comeback to win, but in the last match they were hit by a comeback by Leipzig in front of their own supporters too.

Usually one first defeat will have a big impact on being able to rise in the next match. What we need to wait and see is whether Leverkusen's mentality can overcome it? If they can get through the next few matches with wins, I think Leverkusen will remain the favorite to retain the title. Conversely, if they lose the next match, then as you said, if they continue to lose, their performance and mentality will also decline to a very severe level. This often happens to teams in other European leagues, defending the title is very difficult.

Different from the status of the club they will face and also different in terms of the pressure they will feel. The Europa League and the Champions League are both European competitions, but there is still a difference of at least one level. The Champions League is more prestigious than the Europa League, so that will also be a challenge for them. Leverkusen has already experienced defeat this season, it shows that they are not as strong as last season, so this may also be another consideration for people who expect them after becoming champions last season. Actually they only need to show that they can compete in the Champions League, at least they can get through the league phase and visa to be in the knockout round. Xabi is preparing for that to show that his team is ready to compete in the Champions League.

This year, most of the favorite teams started the league badly. In almost every league, teams that were very successful the previous season are currently in the middle of their leagues. Leverkusen is one of these teams. The team will get better in the coming weeks. If something is not going well, it can be good to take a break, and we are in that break right now. That's why I think the teams that have not been able to show high performance so far will be better from now on

The defeat that was greeted with the international break will be an opportunity for Xabi Alonso to evaluate the weaknesses of his squad, which at first glance seemed to lie in their defense which was easy to concede. In addition, the strategy used last season must be updated, because it has been read by the opponent. Leverkusen still look collective, but their intensity and ambition in the game have indeed decreased a little. With the same manager and players, Leverkusen can create a positive trend again in the next match against Hoffenheim.
There are many things that need to be evaluated by Xabi Alonso, especially for the defense position because this weakness is the most crucial point. The strategy can be used like last season, but there must be a few changes so that the opponent cannot easily read it. The international break is a point of evaluation that needs to be improved and if not many Leverkusen players strengthen the national team, it will make it easier for Xabi Alonso to see the weak position. Against Hoffenheim, they really have to get full points because if they find unsatisfactory results again, Leverkusen will lose the opportunity to be in the top five of the standings.
Undoubtedly, Xabi Alonso is doing well. Even the best teams must adapt, and Leverkusen's playbook is beginning to rust. Opponents are figuring them out, and that Leipzig loss was huge. Minor tactical adjustments could make all the difference. The goaltender made some defensive mistakes against Leipzig. Tighten up, big league.

But Leverkusen's offensive remains strong. Hoffenheim may hold a careful approach. This is Xabi's chance to experiment without compromising their strengths. Switch up the formation or let some bench players shine. Keep the opponents guessing, thats the key. Leverkusen is strong enough for the top five. But to get there, they need to stay ahead of the curve. A little unpredictability helps in this game.

We have to accept the reality that Leverkusen are not winning the Bundeslisga for two consecutive seasons, they might turn up to be among strong contender for the title but they are not yet showing that trait of being able to lift the trophy. Previous season was really a good one for them, even on their imperfection they still turn out with the late minute winner and considering they can't have same luck on this new season. I probably would stick by Bayern Munich as the winner of this season Bundeslisga title, they came back strong and more reliant to defeat as much teams just to secure the space back to holding their eleven years consecutive Bundeslisga title.

I think you have to work on your rhetorics then. You said "we have to accept reality". Does that sound like an opinion to you or more as if you were some sort of mystic figure pretending to be an augurizer with a big fat crystal ball? How about you try it with "I firmly believe that Leverkusen will not be able to win two consecutive Bundesliga titles". Sounds good?

When you make a prediction, that's fine. But since when does your prediction qualify as reality? There is a semantic dissonance in the choice of words anyway. Prediction and reality kind of interfere with each other in a suboptimal way, huh? Tongue

Anyway, I still can't believe the draw that Stuttgart got last week because they could have actually secured the win but unfortunately a mistake at the end of the match ruined it all. It really doesn't make sense where what was initially leading by 2 goals was immediately equalized by Mainz and not long after Stuttgart took the lead again but once again it seems that Stuttgart really made a fatal mistake.
I bet on this match and that's why I was quite emotional when I saw their game especially the defense that was easily penetrated by the away team was very inappropriate. Now I'm starting to be wary of betting on Stuttgart again and in the next match they will face Gladbach and of course this is a difficult match to predict considering Gladbach always presents surprises for anyone they will face. On the other hand, I am also increasingly doubtful that Stuttgart can compete again at the top and it will be an unexpected decline.
The season before last, Stuttgart was close to relegation from the Bundesliga, and before betting on them I would think more about this than about the fact that they were successful last season. Union Berlin also flew high and then fell low the following season. High volatility is the norm for non-top clubs. In the case of Stuttgart, the easiest bets in my opinion are BTTS and Total over. I have also already managed to make several unsuccessful bets on favorites (more solid ones like Real), but now it’s the beginning of the season, so surprises are more frequent than expected results, I take this calmly.

Stuttgart is always a very interesting side to watch. They come with surprising talents and rarely stay consistent with the excitement. But in all fairness to them, they are always a very well-managed side.  They have a great coach in Sebastian Hoeneß, their squad is great and they always refresh their squad with newer talents.

Now they had a rough start to the season, and things get difficult when you face Gladbach because they do things which are really unexpected. They make football very fun to watch for sure. I personally won't recommend betting for Stuttgart until they find their sweet spot. The squad right now lacks form, which they hopefully can gain in the coming days.

Out of the 18 amazing teams, they are now 14th, which isn't a good look at all. I hope they deal with their issues in the squad, so they can return to good football at their earliest convenience. There is an international break now, which they can use to get the best out of players, also players who are specifically struggling in some situations can recover and see better days on the pitch.

Leverkusen now is not like last season which never experienced defeat and at the start of this season Leverkusen disappointed its fans a little, and what I still remember was that the other day I didn't expect it because I lost the bet because at that time I was sure Leverkusen would win but yes, it was a shame to guess. I was wrong... and at that time it looked like the Leipzig players were very happy because they could win the match.

but Xabi Alonso certainly has to improve everything and of course the players also have to fight optimally, this season in the Bundesliga is still early and there is still a lot of time for Leverkusen to improve itself... my prediction is that in the next match Leverkusen will win and I won't give up on betting on victory Leverkusen and against Hoffenheim i predict 2-0 to win for Xabi Alonso's troops.

Accept the reality? What reality Mr. Crystal Ball? Lol, 2 games played and now I am wondering whether you are trolling people or whether you know more than anybody else? The season is literally a little more than 1 week going on and you say that "we have to accept the reality". I love when I see experts like you posting nonsense like that. It's immediately the moment where one can tell that you are a deep-minded, thorough thinker who knows what he is saying. Keep it up!
It sounds ridiculous and condescending to Leverkusen, as if the Bundesliga is over. Hey, we've only just started, no club was as consistent as Leverkusen last season. Bayern Munich rivals are struggling to get back into the competition area which is still not promising. So it's more fun to talk about the results of the game than to summarize the whole competition. We've only played 2% of the 38 games left.
It seems he still hasn't accepted the results of last season, the fact that Leverkusen will continue to be Bayern Munich biggest obstacle for the next 1 season.

The defeat that was greeted with the international break will be an opportunity for Xabi Alonso to evaluate the weaknesses of his squad, which at first glance seemed to lie in their defense which was easy to concede. In addition, the strategy used last season must be updated, because it has been read by the opponent.
I don't see anything that needs to be evaluated overall Leverkusen's game from their defeat last weekend, Leverkusen's game was quite good, it's just that they were unlucky, even so, every defeat must be evaluated to be better and in my opinion Xabi Alonso only needs to maintain the mentality and confidence of this team.

Against Hoffenheim after the international break, it shouldn't be difficult for Leverkusen, in all respects Leverkusen is far superior so that it is possible for Leverkusen to be able to win the match later easily.

Here I just remind you that Leverkusen is still a strong team this season and they will remain the favorites to win the title, their defeat last weekend cannot be used as a reference, they were just a little unlucky, I saw Leverkusen's performance and I didn't see anything different compared to last season.

I totally agree you about Bayer Leverkusen great season. They only lost one game which was final against Atalanta. That shows how well they played all season. Their coach Xabi Alonso is very smart and figured out how to make his team play their best. He got most out of his players. We do not know if they can do it again this season but last season they worked hard made smart decisions and played well. Alonso is great coach because he can make plan and make it work. Bayer Leverkusen success shows what can happen when you have talented players work hard and make smart decisions.
This season is quite different from the other, Leverkusen will struggled this season, already recorded their first defeats this season against RB Leipzig. Who to blame for their shocking defeats? Ofcourse nobody because losing is generally accepted everywhere. Success is acknowledged and accomplish when they've the best leading squad and the Bundesliga side, Bayer Leverkusen will not relent. Xabi Alonso is the main reason Bayer Leverkusen are in their best form till date. There's always a possibility for any elite club to bounce to winning, it's regular stats and offering for main tasks.
Getting 1 defeat at the beginning of the season is not something to regret, many top clubs also feel defeat even though it is only 1x or 2x so defeat is something that anyone will feel, moreover maintaining consistency for 2 consecutive seasons is very impossible Leverkusen is not a robot that works hard without losing, they are just ordinary hard workers, I am sure with this defeat Xabi Alonso will immediately fix the wrong gaps and make his club perform well again in the next matches, it is quite strange if we do not see the club making mistakes, even the coach does not have a job to evaluate it Grin

However, it is not easy to maintain an unbeaten result throughout the season and it must be underlined here that this defeat will not make them extinguish. On the contrary, Leverkusen will be crazier for this season and we will just wait and see what they will do after getting a defeat at the beginning of this season.

If it were not for Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen would definitely be struggling and that is why everyone wants him to survive. Not only that, his desire to survive is directly supported by Xabi Alonso himself so that fans feel safe that their favorite team is led by the right coach. However, there are doubts, for example, if this season he feels that he has carried out his full responsibilities and cannot provide anything better, then it is certain that Xabi Alonso will be open to other offers.

We have to accept the reality that Leverkusen are not winning the Bundeslisga for two consecutive seasons,

Can you just tell me what reality it is you are talking about? If you can see the future please prove it to us and provide us more information.  Grin

They had a great performance last season. They scored some very important last minute goals in some games. So, they were actually as lucky as they were very good last season. I have no doubt that they will be very good again this season, but I don't think they will have the same luck. Indeed, their 35-game unbeaten streak came to an end against Leipzig in the league. I think we will witness a better rivalry this season. Both Bayer Leverkusen and Bayer Munich will be more predictable teams...

Of course last season was a very surprising season for Bundesliga fans, we have seen how the greatness of the middle team at that time showed its best quality by dominating the league without experiencing a single defeat, and honestly I will say again that it was a surprising performance from a team that was originally ordinary.
Last season most of us predicted that this season would definitely be more interesting to watch because the competition would definitely be even fiercer and I also don't know whether Leverkusen will be able to repeat the success like when they were last season or not,
but what is certain is that to return to setting an unbeaten record throughout the match I think for now it is very unlikely, but for the title problem at the end of the season it is still possible for them to get it again, and I am quite curious about what Bayern Munich will do after failing to defend the title last season.
