This has been a spectacular season for Xabi Alonso and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Xabi succeeded in bringing his team to win two titles this season with an unbeaten record throughout the season. It is very difficult to beat them in the Bundesliga and other domestic competitions, even in the Europa League, but Xabi Alonso failed to perfect his achievements this season because he was defeated by Atalanta in the Europa League final.

Next season, Xabi's job in defending the title will be very difficult, of course because of the increased competition in the new season. The Champions League will not be easy for him, but Leverkusen is certainly considered a good team among many other contestants. I'm not sure Leverkusen can win the title next season in the Bundesliga, it's very difficult to defend.

Leverkusen were a mediocre team.   Last season we did not see a better performance than Leverkusen.   The team was at the sixth place in the points table. And the performance was also very poor.   The team probably won 14 matches.   But this season, Leverkusen has performed well. Did not lose a single match in the Bundesliga.   And all this is possible because of Xabi Alonso.

It's true that Leverkusen's players worked hard. Also Xabi Alonso's match strategy was excellent. And because of Alonso's match strategy, Leverkusen team was able to maintain the winning streak. Xabi Alonso is undoubtedly the best coach this year.

Maintaining performance will usually be much more difficult and it is their job to ensure they can maintain their performance like this season, or even better than this season. It is Xabi Alonso's job to ensure that his team can always be at a good level.

They are not like Bayern Munich for example who have stable finances, so they also have to think about not having financial problems in the end. Their players can actually create good chemistry, so it would be a good investment if they didn't sell the players who brought them to play like this season.

However, Xabi will discuss the team's needs again and he will propose players to bring in.

Bayern Leverkusen after finishing this season should be aware that a greater challenge awaits them in the next season. They are lucky Xabi Alonso decided to stay back with them for more season, it would have destroy the whole clubs formation and their formidable nature through from the time it was built till now. A bigger challenge awaits them, so I expect both the manager, the players to be extra prepared for it. With Xabi Alonso still in the team, they can bring in young talents that can easily curate with the existing squads to make the team stronger and formidable for next season. A very impressive football they played this season and we hope they can continue this consistency for next season again.


You can’t say they don’t have a prominent striker or their life of play does not make it a most for them to get a striker. We saw their performance this season and how they played well to reach the point they are now. They are the type of team that you can trust again for next season with the same manager and players still intact in the team. If they need to add players, it wouldn’t be that much, so that won’t be a big problem for them even when playing in the next season. Xabi Alonso’s managerial skills are great, so I’m sure he’s going to deliver well the coming season also.

To be honest, even I do not follow the conference league closely. I have always thought about it as the one European competition where those teams go which are not good enough to perform in the Champions League or the Europa League. And of course, most of the people are interested about the Champions League and also the Europa League. Not so much about the conference league.

But I have to say that for a team that just got promoted, they have definitely done really well to actually finish where they did. And also be able to take part in European competitions, doesn’t matter how small it is. For a team that just got promoted, even the conference league is definitely a great achievement. It was a great improvement from them and I hope that they will be able to continue this improvement. Hope to see them perform well in the next season also.

Let's see how Leverkusen will move next season, that is the most important part. We are talking about a very dangerous thing for a club at that size, they are not the richest club in the world and that means we are talking about something that will take a while for them to get richer, which is why I think it is going to be something that will mean it will take a while.

I personally believe that we are talking about Leverkusen which will sell a lot of their players and that is going to be the most important thing in the world. I think Leverkusen will try to take advantage of the situation and I think they will sell many of their players. This is why I think it is quite clear that we are going to see them get a little worse eventually.

Unarguably,Xabi Alonso is the best coach of the season in the whole Europe as a whole,with the record he has set in the Bundesliga,it will be hard to be broken these days,and if they had extended that record to the last game,it would have really been a glory to Xabi and the club as a whole.Leverkusen shocked so many people this season,and with the way they play,they will be a big threat to big teams in the champions league next season when they will participate in the competition.I can't wait to see them play against teams like Arsenal,Barca,Madrid and Dortmund.

Playoffs are just like qualifiers that get you into the real tournament, usually there are clubs from Europe lower leagues that usually just get playoff qualification spots and if they progress from there they get included into the competition, this isn’t only applicable to the conference league alone but also happens in the champions league and the Europa league. The two competitions had their own scrapped because there is a lower competition which is the conference league which a club falls down to if they fail to qualify for the others.

The historical reason why Heidenheim are playing this, is because first spot belongs to either the seventh placed team or the winner of the DFP pokal of the team fails to qualify via regular spot. The 7 position which is Hoffenheim had already qualified to the Europa league because of the Bundesliga having five teams going to the Champions League after a another spot was awarded to them which meant that the two Europa league spot goes to the 6 and 7 placed teams. The other regulation stopping Heidenheim then was Kaiserslautern who were playing the DFP pokal final with Bayer Leverkusen and outside the top Bundesliga teams. Had they won they would have created history as the first club in recent times to be in a European competitions and not in the top tier league

Many people know that the mistake Bayer Leverkusen coach made that caused them to missed the trophy, because he reserved the players for second half that made Atalanta players to use the opportunity in the first half to weak their strength to secured 2 goals.

The final game made many people to loss their bet, because they predicted for the favor of Bayer Leverkusen to beat Atalanta 1:3, but it was a disgrace to Bayer Leverkusen fans to seen Atalanta secured 3 goals to Lock out Bayer Leverkusen from the final game to lift the trophy with so much celebration in the stadium.

With the result we got from Bayer Leverkusen in this season, I guess they will do well in  UEFA champions league next season because they displayed good results in different tournament to make people proud of them for remain unbeatable in the UEFA Europa league tournament.

I'm newly hearing about that. After this news it seems like the Serie A and Bundesliga both are sending 8 teams to European tournaments next season compared to other top leagues.    It must be feeling great for Heidenheim to qualify for it in the last moment. The Conference League is the least prestigious tournament among the others but it is still special for a team like them.

After the format change in all European tournaments we have started seeing many more teams than normal capturing opportunities there. Do you believe this is a good thing? Honestly I think it is.    It would be fun to watch some new teams do their best as well.

Defeat in the Europa League only made them fail to extend their unbeaten record in all competitions, but not in the domestic league which even now Leverkusen has not been beaten at all, in addition to successfully extending the unbeaten record in the German domestic league, now Leverkusen is of course quite happy with the achievement of two trophies that have been impossible for them to get before Alonso came,  Alonso ability to bring many changes to Leverkusen has certainly changed the club history for the better in the future, for Leverkusen of course this season will be a phenomenal season and maybe even they will continue to see the 2023/24 season as their glory season in the club history.

Leverkusen failure in the Europa League in my opinion is not something that has tainted Alonso coaching so far, because after all Alonso will still be a hero that they will continue to remember after he was able to bring glory to Leverkusen this season, without any star players and also with large funds is certainly a pretty fantastic achievement for Leverkusen this season and I think Alonso deserves to be the best coach this season.

What does playoffs mean? Will they end up in the qualifying round of the Conference League rather than in the group stage? To be honest, I was never interested in this tournament and I don’t know what the rules are. Either way it is a great achievement for the club and if they play any big club there (like Chelsea which ended up in the Conference League after United won the cup) it will be a historic milestone for the club and the fans.

I believe that Bayer Leverkusen will have learnt their lesson from the game against Atalanta. They didn't expect this efficiency level from Atalanta while at the same time they couldn't put the ball in the back of the net themselves. Being down 2 goals after 26 minutes was new for them and I believe they felt nervous more than they did ever before in the season.

And Atalanta is a team that loves to have that early lead and then go for counter attacks. Leverkusen new they had to lead the game and Atalanta was fine to focus on the defense and wait for their final shot.

Next year I think we will still see a very strong Leverkusen team. They have achieved so much that there is no reason to be sad. They will be sad as for some players this means a once in a lifetime chance to play such a final. But overall they have delivered a once in a lifetime performance. Despite being convinced that they will play a great season again and that they are clearly a top 3 candidate, it is hard to believe that they could make it to 90 points again.

Bayern Munich will be furious next season. They will all be on fire. And the biggest risk for Leverkusen is to lose some of the key players. Wirtz said something about it and some others may leave the club, too. It's the perfect timing for them to make a lot of money after playing a perfect season. Real Madrid is after Wirtz as it seems and if you a young guy who has the chance to play with players like Bellingham and Vinicius Junior and perhaps Mbappe, I think it is very tough to decline the offer.

I am one of the millions of people who still think that Xabi's actions are extraordinary because he only lost 1 game in all the matches he played throughout the year and this defeat was in the UEL final. Yes, he made a great gem out of an average team. They eliminated Bayern in the Bundesliga and did not lose a match until reaching the UEL final. I don't think there will be a similar performance next year because there are not always such great statistics, but Leverkusen will have a successful season again.

A competitive club is the pointed team that thrashed Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final. Leverkusen first defeats was really dissapointing because none of them expected it to happen. Bayer Leverkusen will survive the fierce competition infront? They've created one of the longest unbeaten run and I don't think it's going to an easy one for them next season. They will feature in the UEFA Champions League and we know all elite teams will focused on the club, this is really one of the top challenge they should throw more pointed actions on.

It was one game away from a perfect campaign of a season. The loss in the Europa League final may hurt their heart, but they deserve to be proud of their achievement in Bundesliga with an unbeaten record. This is the first time a team in Bundesliga, even Bayern have never done that despite their dominance throughout history of Bundesliga.

Despite having a perfect season, Leverkusen still need to improve their squad to face next season. They will enter next season campaign with a big anticipation from their competitors and other teams. They will be a team to beat, because it will be a prestige by other teams to beat an unbeaten team. Leverkusen just should prepare a more diffifult campaign next season.  

If I am in the shoes of Xabi Alonso, I will not leave Bayern Leverkusen just now because he has just succeeded in creating a grade A team out of an average team, so he is better of at the club. He understands the players, they love and respect him and he has been lucky with the team as well, they then should he leave to go and start all over in another club. Leaving now will be one of the worse mistakes he can make and I am sure it will affect his career so much. Take for instance, if he leaves and join another club and end up not achieving anything, that will be a big slap to his career because everyone will conclude that it was just luck that helped him win the German Bundesliga, the cup and also go to Europa league final.

I agree fully on that , yeah there are much Teams that we have seen struggling in the next season after they got a very good one.
I also think that Leverkusen will be continue there playing next season as they have done this year , hopefully.
Would be nice if Stuttgart keeping there performance too , so we have a lot of good teams that fighting for the title.

Leverkusen is the most perfect team I have ever seen. One win in the UEL final and they will ensure themselves as the only team to be unbeaten in a season in all competitions on the UEFA calendar. It was a very prestigious achievement and could never be repeated even by Leverkusen itself.

Next season they will be one of the teams to watch out for. A defeat to Atalanta will expose their weaknesses and other teams will also try to copy the same tactics. Leverkusen needs to look for several new players to add strength to the team. I see that current players cannot play optimally as Xabi hopes. In fact I can say their current squad is not a great squad with great players. There are no famous players or young talents among them. However, the mentality and tactics used by Xabi succeeded in making them a very competitive team.

Even though they failed in the europa league but it doesn't deny the fact that if leverkusen was owning bundesliga and DFB pokal. It's more than enough for xabi alonso. There may be a lot of clubs will try to approach him as a new coach.
Invicible record by bayern leverkusen + two trophies. There is no a better result rather than this. Xabi deservesa lot of appreciation for all of his dedication to the club. Xabi was not only a coach but he likes a teacher for whole players of leverkusen

No reason for leverkusen to let him leave from the club that fast. We may be seeing xabi to stay there for several years.




Manchester city has been putting xabi alonso on its shortlist as a guardiola's successor.
