In the second leg game, yes suffering a defeat ahead, they put their best to equalizing and even winning the game on penalties. The result of the encounter clearly proves the class and level difference of both teams.

Of course, Xabi Alonso has made a big contribution to Leverusen, because he has succeeded in making Leverkusen better this season and even very well by becoming a very different team because it underwent drastic changes which surprised many football fans. Bochum hit 23 short but Fortuna Düsseldorf hit 22 shorts in the comparison . Bochum hit 8 shorts on target but Fortuna Düsseldorf can target only 6 shorts . The passes of Bochum team was 723 and that is Osum figure but Fortuna Düsseldorf team gave only 400 passes. That is all performance of both teams and that's why Bochum team deserved the win and at the end they won.

It appears to me that Xabi's job of defending the club's continuity in winning the Bundesliga again next season is becoming considerably easier since bayern has appointed kompany from burnley as a new manager for the upcoming season. Ths will be also helping leverkusen to defend its trophy for another season. Bayern Munich has replaced Tuchel with a substandard coach which is also showing if bayern is now getting another setback. I believe Leverkusen can continue to perform as well as they have this season and im still hoping that xabi can win another bundesliga trophy. As of right now, Xabi has no plans to leave the team nor join in another club consider he is still having good time in leverkusen. .
He is still eager to manage Leverkusen for another season and he can leave anytime. We may see him leave Leverkusen once he is able to provide another excellent season for the club in the future. Xabi has rejected numerous offers from other clubs.

He still intends to stay in Leverkusen for several years but who knows if football is dynamic. Xabi can do U turn anytime. I'm confident Xabi will leave at the end of his contract but he may also change his mind at the end of next season. Leverkusen has also confirmed that Xabi can leave the club at any time as part of the agreement being made between him and leverkusen before he has been officially being a part of club.


Only a few players were reported leaving but there's no further development regarding this.

It is certain that Leverkusen will do that and besides, while there is more profit, they should be able to take advantage of this momentum to sell players who have high market value. There are quite a lot of players here who have experienced a big jump in terms of market value and of course they will be targets of top European clubs for next season.

However, if Leverkusen are basically reluctant to sell their players, that is also a good decision and they can repeat the same success as this season next season. They still have a big chance of retaining the Bundesliga title if the squad is still intact and not a single player leaves. That's why Munich must be able to overhaul it even better, at least they must be able to get some really good and very productive players to make Munich dominate the Bundesliga again and compete with Leverkusen next season.

I didn't realized this match and after lost with big scores in the first leg from Fortuna Düsseldorf i was lost hope to Bochum and i thought Bochum was done because second leg will be helded at Fortuna Düsseldorf home ground and with their condition i highly doubt Bochum can able to win at least with 3 goals margin and reverse the situation but clearly i was wrong because Bochum was performing fantastic and they can able to scores 3 goals which makes both teams has same aggregate 3-3 at the normal time and Bochum was dramatically can eliminate Fortuna Düsseldorf from penalty shootout indeed this result is highly unexpected because previously Fortuna Düsseldorf in the comfortable position but Bochum has displayed strong mentallity which make them can win the match and survive at Bundesliga

Bochum managed to turn things around by beating Fortuna Düsseldorf via a penalty shootout. It's amazing that no one thought that Fortuna Düsseldorf would fail to qualify for the Bundeliga next season, even though in the first leg they played very well when they hosted Bochum and they won at Bochum's home ground but instead they lost at home.
In the second match Fortuna Düsseldorf was the host, but no one expected Bochum to play optimally last night, the 0-3 defeat at home did not have a bad impact on the mentality of the Bochum players, but what happened was that Bochum managed to equalize so this match had to be continued to penalty shootout which resulted in Fortuna Düsseldorf losing 5-6 to Bochum, which means Bochum can still survive in the Bundesliga next season.

Xabi Alonso plays an important role at Leverkusen. Leverkusen managed to show that they are capable of becoming champions this season. So last time I was here, it was to discuss my desire to see Bochum stay in Bundesliga, but they ended up losing to Dusseldorf 3-nil. Supposedly, game over right?

Then my guys truly lived up to their name tonight as "Undescendables" by getting their own 3-0 with 20 minutes to spare; proceeding to just hang on tight till penalties. Keeper had an easy save to make really from the first Dusseldorf kick, but Masovic made them sweat some more with his miss. Luthe had two almost-saves, but he didn't need any more as Uchino blasted high.

Guess we're stuck with Bochum

In the previous seasons, Leverkusen usually finished in the top 6. They are the team from Bundesliga that quite often played in Europa league. But sometimes they could finish in the top 3 and played in UCL. However, they never won Bundesliga trophy, they didn't target to compete for the title. Sure, in this season Leverkusen performed very incredible, no team in Bundesliga can defeat Leverkusen. Even in DFB Pokal, Leverkusen can keep wining every match until the final round and win the trophy of DFB Pokal. It is fantastic, Xabi Alonso changes Leverkusen to be a winning team. Unfortunately, they missed 1 match, they were defeated in final match of Europa league and they failed to win the trophy.

Everyone must admit that the effect of Xabi Alonso is real, Xabi is amazing. But Xabi Alonso should still get a lesson from the result of Europa league final match. In some matches, it looks like Xabi Alonso using not a proper starting-lineup. This should be avoided in the next season, specifically for the crucial matches.

Every player must work hard, it is the responsibility of every player in a football team. However, I can appreciate Leverkusen players, they could understand well the tactics or strategy implemented by Xabi Alonso. They also want to force themselves to play in a higher level, so they can be more competitive. Besides Xavi has a smart idea for the team, the spirit among the players also has a big role to make them be a stronger team in this season. Anyway, I can admit that Xabi got a great achievement with Leverkusen in this season.

I don't think xabi Alonso will be leaving Bayern04 Leverkusen anytime soon. The career part for greater success is just been layed, his team will be competing for next season's champions League this time around and he will be showcasing his prowess in the champions League, if not for Atalanta that got in their way, Leverkusen would have successfully won the Europa League. so the grass is greener here in Leverkusen for Alonso.
Manchester city should look for somebody else, if not for the unbeatable record xabi just kept for Leverkusen on their domestic league, would they have ordinarily called him? Of course the answer is no. Manchester city should look for replacement for pep guardiola somwhere else.

I don't know if there is anyone watching the magical playoff between Fortuna Düsseldorf and Bochum where in the first leg the former was at away and defeated Bochum 0-3. Today is the second leg and Bochum went to their home and is also winning them with the same score of 0-3. This is one sweet thing about the German league, anything is possible. It would have been easy to assume that Fortuna Düsseldorf will win with home advantage being on their side and since they were able to win at away against Bochum. But the reverse is the case and we are seeing something spectacular. What an interesting game it is and I am anxious to see how it finally ends.

It was the best season in Leverkusen's history. Even the fans of Leverkusen did not imagine that the Leverkusen team could perform so well this season.   However, Leverkusen played very well and broke the dominance of strong teams like Bayern Munich to win the title.   I am happy because Bayern Munich broke their dominance.

You are right that next season is going to be tougher for Xabi Alonso. Because this season Leverkusen was a mediocre team.   So fans did not expect much from Leverkusen.   But after performing so well this season, fans' expectations will be higher for the upcoming season.
