Yes, the fight schedule is too close with each other and that's why others are questioning why Tank needs to fight Hector Garcia first.

When it first pop up in my social media account I thought its fake news because how could it be when there were already a lot of talks on Tank versus Ryan Garcia and there is news that they agreed to make a deal, I don't know what happens we do not even know if Ryan knew all of this, because he keeps posting that he finally get Tank to agree to fight him, there's something behind that we don't know and they hide it all to us.

True on the other hand, Ryan Garcia also confirmed that he will have a fight is January as well. So it might be the same case as Tank Davis, Ryan will have a tune up fight as well.

So that will be the case here, both wanted to warm up first before facing each other in a mega fight.

Hopefully though, either Hector Garcia or Ryan opponent won't derail the fight that we all have been waiting for.

I marked it as Tank Davis KO. But I was confused when I saw this title, I knew Tank Davis was totally gearing up for a Ryan Garcia fight. It was really a surprise for me that they had another promotion in between. This game will be a warm-up for Davis, I don't think there is any danger. I know your Hector isn't an empty boxer but he's got a tank in front of him and that KO machine is 25 TKOs in 27 games.

Was surprised too when I voted for a win by a KO for Tank Davis's favor, and it seems that everybody here is not seeing Hector Garcia a big deal and thinking that this is just a mere tune-up or warm up fight before he faces Ryan Garcia somewhere in March/April next year.
Anyway, this will be Hector's debut in lightweight and I'd say that he is too unfortunate because he is up against the regular champion who doesn't want yet to give up his title, not before he have the chance to face the undisputed champion.

But as I have said, as long as him and Ryan will fight this year, then everything should be good on our part as boxing fans.

Do not believe it 100%, we've been taken a ride before by both Crawford and Spence and in the past, these two, are clowning to fight each other but never materialize, I don't know how serious these two fighters are, I will only believe if they sign a contract and there's already a final date.
If Tank's promoter is serious about this he should not let fight this Hector Garcia and go straight against the popular Garcia this is where big money is.

Realized it's not Ryan Garcia he's fighting this Jan7. I actually thought the date was moved from Jan to May which Tank will also be fighting with Ryan.
Davis really needs a lot of money to resolve his cases and for this, he's going to whack the 2 Garcias. Ryan will get a title shot against Haney if he goes to jail right?

Only the hardcore boxing fans knows who Hector is, he isn't also a walk in the park. I wonder if Tank's fight with Ryan will be canceled if he loses against Hector by unexpected upset.

Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) later announced Friday on Instagram that he's set to fight 130-pound titleholder Hector Luis Garcia on Jan. 7 in Washington D.C. The fight, which Davis must win to move onto the planned April 15 bout vs. Garcia (Ryan), will be a Showtime PPV, according to a source, and will be contested at 135 pounds rather than 130 for Garcia's title.

Well, it says here that Tank Davis should have a win in his first bout versus Hector (his debut in 135 lbs.) so that his fight with Ryan Garcia will go through afterwards. Now, that time frame is too short to prepare for a fight with Hector Garcia, don't know which they're underestimating between the two Garcia's because the fight schedule is just too close with each other with just only 2 months of preparation.

Yes, the fight schedule is too close with each other and that's why others are questioning why Tank needs to fight Hector Garcia first.

Of course, he won't underestimate Hector Garcia and could win by knock out, but it might take some toll of his body, who knows, he might get injured again in his hands just like when he had his fight against Isaac Cruz.

But as I have said, as long as him and Ryan will fight this year, then everything should be good on our part as boxing fans.

I got confused, I thought that we have Ryan Garcia all set for May?

But now Tank is going to fight another Garcia this January? and then go for a May fight with Ryan? something is not right here, the fight is very close to each other and I wonder how Tank will manage that one. Unless he knockout Hector Luis Garcia in round one here.

Something is not right here, something's fishy.

Probably just looking to have someone in the ring to make money from before the long-awaited fight with Ryan Garcia. Might not be an easy work for Tank but if he scores a KO then it will just prop up people's interest in his bout against another Garcia. Either way, Hector Luis Garcia would still get some paycheck, and win or lose, depending on his performance, he can say that he fought with one of the current greats in boxing, and that might even give him some openings on other good title shots.

Interesting start of the year.
Hector might be an interesting warm-up for Tank before his fight against Ryan.
Of course Hector can't be underestimated just by looking at his notes and we don't know what strategy he will do to face the Tanks.
I was hoping Tank would show Hector his ferocity and trademark knockout streak in a match earlier that year.

well fans wanted to see davis vs garcia so they give. its the promotion that got confused actually. so to calm down the nagging fans, they scheduled 2 garcias. now be grateful.  Grin

2 fights in less than 6 months. tank davis as great fighter that he is, he can take it. hector garcia is like a pre-fight and then the final is ryan. not bad at all. heck why not put 3 of them in the ring ahead of schedule.

I don't think Hector Garcia is a big threat for Tank, although when Garcia still was super featherweight division, he was won against Roger Gutierrez and stole his WBA belt. But he wasn't defending his belt and try to challenge Tank, I think he won against Gutierrez was a fluke. I'm pretty sure the bookies will list Tank become huge favorited again, just like when he was fight with Rolando Romero.
of course i believe as well because it's not surprising if tank will gain the vote for this fight since he is one of the best fighter on the division and i believe this will be the scary fight for hector. Lol  easy money again for the team especially mayweather.. I'm not saying that the opponent is weak, and i know there's a possibility that Hector can survive but i dont believe he can defeat the tank on this match it impossible IMO.

I don't think that there is something fishy on this one. It's just that Ryan Garcia vs Davis is a fight that many people wanted to see so when they announced that they are going to fight, hype set in and we tend to forget that it will happen in May but between that time, Davis is still scheduled to fight Hector Garcia which i think a fight that Davis could win easily and then face Ryan Garcia in May.

Other Garcia will fight against Davis in this upcoming January but what we are want to looking for this first month or in a hal of a year 2023 is that Davis will face Ryan Garcia which is pretty good matchup by Davis. but for now let's support Davis to win against Hector gracia which is I pretty sure that Davis will win this fight anyways that's my prediction but maybe Hector will win if he will trained harder and focus on defense and have a better  strategy in offense.

Just the other day, we are all excited about the Gervonta Davis - Ryan Garcia deal in 2023 and we all thought that all are set up to do their May match but PBC again could mess up this deal, I know it's unlikely but what if this Garcia pulls up an upset, Hector Garcia already pulls an upset against the heavy favorite Colbert at that time, so there's a probability even though its small that he can pull up an upset, but I like the idea of an upset so these favorite will stop doing cherry picking.

Chris Colbert is an enormous betting favorite, he was -3300, meaning you’d have to bet $3,300 to win $100. Meanwhile, Garcia is a +1100 underdog, which means you’d earn a $1,100 payday on a $100 wager

Nonetheless, I hope an upset happens. I'm sick of fighters cherry-picking their opponents. PBC is the worst promotion nowadays, at least the other promoters will try as much as possible to negotiate with other promotions if the other big names and champions are on the other side.

Just imagine that, if Davis lost this one, for sure the Ryan fight will be scrap as the hype will die down. And not sure how PBC or Floyd is willing to let Davis fight when the biggest stage is set for him in May.

It's funny how Showtime trying to sell Tank as a 5-time world champion. His only division where he held a real belt was at 130. Devin Haney holds all the real belts at 135 hence he is called undisputed. Josh Taylor was also the undisputed champ at 140 when Tank moved up in 1 fight against Mario Barrios.

Yes, and that is the hype around his name, very exciting, but doesn't have the real belt. So all his belts is just secondary, for hard core fans, we all know that, but for casual, perhaps they could sell it that way.

Checking his fights he is not a threat only Colbert is the top or elite fighter that has faced but he is good but Rolly Romero is better than Hector Luis, since Tank is scheduled to fight, Ryan Garcia could also pick a cherry-picked fight as a tune fight for their supposed May encounter which I doubt will materialized given the time gap for Tank's preparation, both Ryan and Tank made a deal to fight in 2023 hopefully they honor it and don't make it turn out like a Spence - Crawford fiasco.

What the hell! If Tank Davis is not cherry-picking, he is bottom-feeding. And the schedule is already this coming January 7? Pretty sure Tank already started his light training because he was already expecting a fight while Luis Garcia just won his first ever world title in late August, he is probably fat right now from celebrating, partying, and enjoying the feeling as a world champion. Although Luis Garcia is moving up against Tank's fake lightweight title, 30 days to prepare is short notice. Luis Garcia is after the money though, and his 130 belt is safe too, so he doesn't care if gets KO'd by Tank at 135.

It's a different Garcia, but just think about it, fans buying ticket to think that it will be Ryan Garcia in January, hehehe.

But as others have said, tune up, cherry pick, get busy fight, call it whatever you want but this is true. Very clever on Tank and his camp to pump up first before taking Ryan. And in any case, I wouldn't mind this, as long as he will fight Ryan whether in May, as long as it will happen this year, and I'm down with this fight.

So it's a different Garcia after all,  this is a big surprise since we already have two threads about Tank versus Garcia, I don't know who this Hector Luis Garcia is, but of course, we have Youtube to check who this guy is and what he is capable of inside, his biggest fight is against Colbert whom he defeats by decision, and this Garcia can take a punch and have a big punch but I don't know if he can take the punches coming from Tank as he is considered one of today's biggest hitter.

Ok so for Tank he will have a tune up first first before facing Ryan Garcia, I understand. Do he really need a tune up fight before Ryan?

And if I'm not mistaken Hector Luis Garcia is a career 130 lbs, so pretty much he is going up one division. And with that, it was a mismatch to begin with, Tank has been campaigning at 135-140 lbs. But very clever on the side of Davis to get a tune up fight first because his much anticipated fight with Ryan Garcia in May. He will be as least as active as he can be before that big fight.
