Is it allowed to make a giveaway in a thread that is not specially made for giveaways?
Good idea. Giveaways affects markets badly. I saw this just yesterday with Shibecoins when after giveaway markets were ruined.
honestly, i came to this forum because someone posted on another forum that someone here was giving away free coffeecoin.. or something or other...
however i need 20 posts before i can be in the running to receive any... this was a few days ago now, not sure if the deal is even still on.
but i have got caught up reading around... and only made a few posts.

You should bring them back. Just make a section for it. What is wrong with that?
We had a giveway but people don't "spam them with their addresses or tx ids, or other insubstantial posts." I asking him to: Just send me a private message, that includes your email. After this, pleasepost your opinion from the coin in this forum.
People did spam with insubstantial posts because you (even if indirectly) incentivized them to do so.
Just a few examples:

Not to mention that a third (~80) of the posts in that thread were "thank yous", most of them made by you.
I usually ban people who start such threads (i.e. threads were OP incentivizes people to post insubstantial posts), but in your case you offered to pay people to post their opinions about the coin, which in itself and of itself doesn't necessarily have to translate into insubstantial posts and low-value content, but altcoin board being altcoin board, this is what occurred.

You can create one, just remember that:
Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.
and don't start one just to place your referral links.
