Quote from: Wei Dai
I am fascinated by Tim May's crypto-anarchy. Unlike the communities traditionally associated with the word "anarchy", in a crypto-anarchy the government is not temporarily destroyed but permanently forbidden and permanently unnecessary. It's a community where the threat of violence is impotent because violence is impossible, and violence is impossible because its participants cannot be linked to their true names or physical locations.

The cypherpunks have been lining up for this shot for nearly three decades.

"The target area is only two meters wide. It's a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system."
Yeppers, and those of us that saw that in the theaters when it first came out have been here lining up this shot all along.
Someday, Justus, when we are alone, and I'm feeling good... I will tell you some stories about this and the cypherpunk connection that will absolutely blow your mind.
Just be sure to remind me to do so when the time comes, so I don't get senile and start talking about sleds named rosebud or something.  Wink

edit: that looks like an image from the digital remake.

To bad there are so many of you young pups who think that dual-booting Ubuntu makes you invincible, able to stride the earth as Goliath, and master of all you survey.  Bitcoin's outcome will depend on the race will be between the grey-beards who are not yet pushing up the daisies and you lemmings.

If you're still looking for a safe-haven investment, a better option would be large-cap stocks with lots of cash and good management like Disney, Apple or Microsoft.

If the idea is to join the dollar rally, why target companies with dollars when you can just hold dollars.  Especially when stocks are still pushing all time highs and creating megaphones.

Yeah I had to chuckle at that too. I think we all know what the best safe haven is.  Wink

You may or may not have notice who seems to be running the show in most countries.

It is said that "Old age and treachery beats youth and skill every time." Smiley
Maybe you missed this, but we're doing cryptography here.

Quote
Cryptography (or cryptology; from Greek κρυπτός kryptós, "hidden, secret"; and γράφειν graphein, "writing", or -λoγία -logia, "study", respectively)[1] is the practice and study of techniques for secure communication in the presence of third parties (called adversaries).[2] More generally, it is about constructing and analyzing protocols that overcome the influence of adversaries[3] and that are related to various aspects in information security such as data confidentiality, data integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation.[4] Modern cryptography intersects the disciplines of mathematics, computer science, and electrical engineering.

It's an entire field dedicated toward using math to reduce the ability of people like you to "run the show."

You know what I see in this comment?  Cypherdoc being a doofus! (yawn.)

I would not rule out that there could be enough similar thought patterns to have an impact on spot gold prices such is the sad level of critical thinking skills here on planet earth.  If so, and if it coincided with a good selling opportunity for Bitcoin (sadly, this ain't one...maybe next year sometime) then the planets would be nicely aligned for a portfolio re-adjustment.

Well, its a comet not a metallic asteroid but I get you.  Forget about the gold... I see metals: iron, nickel, chromium, etc.  A supply like that in orbit would catapult the space age into overdrive and probably initiate a "golden age" down here on earth.

remember, remember, last November when the bulls ate everything in sight?

15k shorts to close..good luck in this bull run. You may find a few weak hands but we're now in the radar of the masses and huge funds are literally about to join the party.

Shocked

this is fun

it's actually quite quiet in here as everybody is scrambling to get money to exchanges or into Circle/Coinbase.

i've seen it in a big way at least 5 times now.

yawn.

this is my first go at it  Grin

does it feel anything like last year? too early to say maybe

it feels just like Descember 2012, even the selling coins before the turn feels the same. Wink only this time bigger, because there is lots of infrastructure all over the world.

when mining profitability allows gen.1 ASICs and GPU miners to turn a profit in Bitcoin its time to sell. (I'll go out on a limb here and say those Alts you dislike, will be making bitcoin gains look small)

Yes I know! turn bear for a second and let a few coins slip and pow!

you haven't been listening  Wink

don't ignore the size of this candle.  it's a major reversal sign and an attempt for the bulls to breakaway while everyone is caught like a deer staring into the headlights hoping that they get a pullback to get back in.
