Yup PAOK is having a huge comeback this year.

I think this year Panathinaikos has a good chance at winning the league's title. Interestingly this hasn't happened since the 2009/10 season!
We still have a many match days to go but I think we're gonna see a fierce competition between PAOK and Panathinaikos this year. Really in my eyes the comeback is bigger and more impressive for them.
For Panathinaikos being among the top 2 most famous teams in Greece, it's been too long since the team saw any league title. So perhaps it's gonna be their year.
PAOK for me had their comeback in 19 when they came first in the league after many decades. Having come second many times since then is very respectable for them also.
Even though PAOK continues to improve its playing performance and has managed to top the standings, it still has very narrow from the teams in second and third place.
AEK Athena and Panathinaikos are in second and third place and in the top three places each difference to be or their difference is very narrow, I sure there will be shift in position in the future because the competition is still very long.
Meanwhile, if PAOK can continue to be consistent and stable then the opportunity to win this season is open for them, even though there will be pursuit from teams below them, at least there is still big chance.
It will actually be difficult now to determine who can actually win the competition, but I still have confidence that PAOK will be able to defend and fight for the title.

PAOK and Olympiakos are team that are quite well known in the Greek League and both teams have also been the top teams in several seasons, only this season Olympiakos have lost their strength and just look at them playing in the competition like team full of pressure.

Of course I support PAOK because it's our brother team. I hope they become champions this season. PAOK last won the title in 2018/19. Frankly, I don't like the two-tier league. I think whoever gets the most points in the regular season should be the champion.

There was a very big match today. PAOK beat Panathinaikos 2-1. Kiril Despodov, who scored both goals, became the man of the match. Panathinaikos' goal was scored by Bakasetas, whom we know very well. Razvan Lucescu is now ahead 1-0 against Fatih Terim. Mircea Lucescu said this would happen. Fatih Terim came to this league to escape from the country. That's why Panathinaikos fans shouldn't have too much expectations. Grin

Did anyone take the above bet I recomended?

I though the odds were pretty good for such an uneven match. A goal at the 16th minute by Aris made me more comfortable having made this prediction during the match, but really I expected kinda better from Aris.
Anyway, a winning bet is a winning bet so you gotta be happy with what you have. Grin

Other than that there's also some other interesting matches today. Highlights for me are PAOK Panathinaikos which for sure is a derby but I don't feel as adventurous to bet on it to be honest.
Olympiacos vs Giannina is uneven towards Olympiacos and AEK vs OFI equally uneven towards an AEK win. But The odds aren't as good so I'm not sure if it's worth the risk. If any of y'all are interested in Greek football the derby will be a good watch probably so consider tuning in. Grin

Good luck!  Wink

Have you checked the upcoming matches? There are some promising ones coming up this weekend.

OFI vs. AEK will be quite competitive; I'm curious to see how it progresses. Olympiakos vs. Giannina should be a piece of cake for Olympiakos. I'll have to check the odds on that one; it's an almost guaranteed bet. The rest are quite meh, I wouldn't bother with those, except PAOK with Panathinaikos, a quite tough match, but judging by how PAOK has been performing in the past few matches, I believe that the scale is tilting in their favor.
For sure the biggest derby of this match day is going to be the PAOL Panathinaikos matchup. Both PAOK and Panathinaikos are first on the standings by points but PAOK is only ahead by goals scored difference.
It's interesting that the odds for that match are slightly favoring PAOK

For a bet worth taking I think the Kifisia Aris match is worth a shot based on the odds. I think ARIS is in a much better place to win against Kifisia who are dead last in the standings.

I'd take 1.56 over that any day.

As of AEK vs. OFI, I'm Afraid OFI stands little chance as OFI appear to have less form lately in the season. AEK is a top team in Greece so it's gonna be a hard match for OFI.

Interestingly, on October 2 2023 which was the last time these two matched against each other, OFI had won against AEK. But as I said OFI hasn't kept up the team's form since them imo so I don't get my hopes up against such a big team as AEK.

It was an expected victory, to be honest. Although I also didn't foresee them winning 5-1, although there's no such thing as a guaranteed bet, you could also say that this was an almost risk-free bet. I doubt that there was even a chance of Volos winning. What were the odds of OFI vs. Panetolikos? I saw OFI win 1-0 in a quite competitive match; both teams are quite similar in their performances after all, but I wouldn't easily bet on who would win, even though the scale tilted towards OFI. There were far safer options available.
Yup, OFI did well on that match playing good defense against Panetolikos. But lost with a score of 1 - 2 Yesterday against them again for the Greek Cup. Perhaps one team learned the other's system and utilized this. I still think OFI have a chance in the Greek cup.

PAOK F.C can once again have improved performance this season after experiencing decline last season.
Same thing also happened to Olympiakos, these two team have always been able to dominate the competition very well for the championship title and the runner-up has always been theirs in the previous few seasons.
But now the only one who has managed to experience improvement is PAOK F.C meanwhile, Olympiakos still has to fight hard to occupy the top position, Olympiakos is still in 4th position with 38 points and this is still quite a big difference from 3rd or 2nd place.
Maybe Olympiakos will be the same as last season, which was only able to finish the competition in 3rd place, which is quite shame and seeing how they played last season, it was also not optimal.

Maybe PAOK F.C will maintain its top standings and be able to win the title this season, PAOK F.C was previously only behind Olympiakos and was runner-up.
This season is big opportunity for PAOK F.C and they must be able to take advantage of this opportunity very well.

Another good prediction with PAOK winning by a landslide...
To be honest I didn't expect them to dominate that much even though it was almost a certain win for me...

I don't know why Greek super league odds are like that sometimes.
I can get a 1.44 for a team I'm sure will win, but when I bet on an uncertain match, the odds can be even worse. Tongue
What can I say. Glad I took advantage of that bet anyway.
I dunno if any of y'all are following the predictions but if you are don't be afraid to say hi! Wink

As a supporter of OFI, what's your view of them and Panetolikos?
Honestly I don't think OFI is going to have that of a good season for the remaining match days.
I'll be glad if our team stays in the first league and doesn't have to participate in the playouts phase.

OFI went in with a bang and started winning some matches we thought weren't likely to be won at the start of the season but then somehow kept delivering very mediocre results.
It's too hard to predict anymore so I just watch OFI's matches without betting these days, as odd as it is with them being my team. Grin

On the other hand, I still hold some optimism for today's match. OFI and Panetolikos have had similar results with OFI only doing slightly better in some matches. They're on an equal footing in my opinion, which makes this even harder to predict, but probably OFI stands a good chance playing a home match. On the other hand, because OFI plays with Panetolikos again in the Greek Cup quarterfinals I suspect they might try something risky to learn their opponent better, which could backfire spectacularly.

For us locals it's an interesting match to watch because it'll give a better idea of the upcoming couple of matches between the two teams for the Greek cup too. With a good strategy OFI could end up in the top three teams in the cup which would be a great achievement.

I was actually thinking of this thread yesterday evening. The majority of these matches seem a little uneven, especially Panathinaikos-Asteras Tripolis or Volos-PAOK. Although there's no such thing as a guaranteed bet, the odds of winning are far greater by betting on the most superior team, and most of the matches you posted are a little propensity-uneven. I'd go for Volos-PAOK, Panathinaikos-Asteras, and Aris-Olympiakos; the rest are a little controversial, but the ones I mentioned seem a little more likely to hit.

As a supporter of OFI, what's your view of them and Panetolikos?

New year, time to try and revive this thread maybe.  Tongue

Let's see the upcoming match day:

So I see something interesting here, PAOK, while being first in the league, is matched with Volos who has so far only had 3 wins out of 18 matches in the season.
The odds are pretty good based on the above:

So for betting on the top team of the league winning against one of the last, you get 1.44 odds. Not bad. I took this bet and know that only a very big upset could f this up Grin

GOOD LUCK!  Wink

Indeed the first goal of Olympiakos that was cancelled as offside through the VAR did not seem like an offside at all.

It's pretty clear that the referee made a call on a case that was very much on the edge

~Snipped~

Like, what do people think this is? It's right for Olympiakos fans to be upset imho but the issue here is also that Mr. Marinakis calling Greek football a criminal gang is very absurd.

First of all he was implicated in the biggest drug bust himself as a ship owner, and all the witnesses in his case, around 10 or so, died in mysterious circumstances. Secondly, he has been implicated in match fixing before. So who knows if he will be believed this time. He said he had evidence, but what was he waiting for? Sad circumstances for Greek football nevertheless.
I'm not sure if it was an offside; it doesn't seem like one to me. It's ironic for Marinakis to call Greek football a criminal gang, as he's the one running the whole operation, along with the drug cartel. It's not the first time soccer matches have been fixed, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is all a show. I find it difficult to believe that Olympiakos didn't win against Volos and had two goals cancelled; the whole scenario seems extremely sketchy. Where is his evidence, and why hasn't it been presented yet? Because it's likely nonexistent. If it is supposedly found that the match was fixed, it'll be extremely ironic and certainly something he was aware of. I simply cannot believe that he's suddenly all innocent.

As expected the entire match day is postponed and no date has been set yet.
It's very sad for there to see that referees feel threatened for simply doing their job...

But on the other hand, if there are claims that there is fraud behind matches I hope that gets investigated too.
Honestly allegations of match fixing don't make any league look good, especially since the Greek league has had it's run with such shenanigans.

It's very likely that the next match day in the Greek super league is not going to take place as scheduled.
Referees decided to strike and formally announced their decision, forwarded in a letter to UEFA.
They're citing threats received by Mr. Papapetrou, a local referee who was overseeing the adventurous match between Olympiacos and Volos.
From how I see things, I don't think the cancellation of Masouras' goal at 60' is justified; it seems like a solid goal to me. And to imagine, I regretted not participating in the previous matches, especially Olympiakos vs. Volos, after seeing what happened, not so much as I was expecting Olympiakos to win. I was looking forward to trying my luck on the next one, but it's not bound to come soon.
Now also Olympiacos owner has come out saying that football in Greece is controlled by a criminal gang. Roll Eyes
Well, isn't it true? He simply has forgotten to mention that he's the leader of that criminal gang, a tiny detail.  Grin

Damn, Olympiacos being in a tie even with a red card against Volos is a very upsetting result. Shocked
Surely very far from whatever anyone would have foreseen. I was expecting a boring match with just a goal or two scored by Olympiacos but the end result was very different:

Olympiacos even got 3 yellow cards...
And managed to only end up in a tie even with Volos missing a penalty.
Probably the game ended up in a tie just because Volos scored an own goal!? Olympiacos didn't even score for the entire match after 54'.

To be fair though a goal of Olympiacos was canceled after a VAR. I wonder how different platforms would treat a canceled goal. Whoever took the bet they can let us know.

Good call; it's tempting to make a bet myself too; all three matchups you pointed out are pretty uneven, and there's a decent chance you'll win. Olympiakos against Volos? It seems like a walk in the park, to be honest. PAOK, in opposition to Lamia, also seems like a sure win. Panathinaikos against OFI isn't as uneven as the other two, but still, the scales are tipping towards Panathinaikos for sure, even though, judging by your previous posts, you support OFI. If I were you, I'd also bet AEK against Aris; it seems like a probable win as well. Did you check their odds? Anyway, I wish you good luck!
OFI as I've posted above has disappointed me. I mean yes, it's my team but when it comes to money you've gotta win sometimes  Grin
So judging by past performance, I'm really betting against my team now.

As of Aris' matchup with AEK... Well it's a tough one. AEK is performing very well on the local league, but did not do so well in Europa League.
That's pretty much also true for all Greek teams in Europa League also but the difference here is that Aris won their previous match against Panathinaikos, who currently ranks first!
While that was surely an upset, Aris surely proved that they have some good underdog strength this season. They'd have their chances for a win against AEK maybe so it's not that certain of a bet when betting for a win for me.

Welp, that's the magic of it, results can be unpredictable at times!

Here we are with a new matchday now though:

~Snipped~

My predictions are on wins for:

PAOK
Olympiacos
Panathinaikos

Because sometimes you have to go with the more secure ones. Roll Eyes
Odds aren't the best and I'm still contemplating if I should make this a multi,

But I think it's hard to go wrong when the matchups are so uneven.
Good luck!
