Or that the original design didn't include any temperature sensors anywhere ....
I think it was 2011 when I first brought that one up with then BFL, still companies make the same stupid mistake today ...

p.s. I finally added tuning to cgminer, options to modify the tuning, and the API stats is full of information about each board ... latest changes are in current git.
I fixed more bugs I copied from chainminer also and found an interesting result the boards return that can be ignored and reduce work checking dramatically.

API summary+stats output of my one BA board:

It's unfortunate that they didn't spend the little bit extra to gold plate the contacts on the cards like most PC expansion cards are. I think that would have prevented alot of problems.

ventilation and power are key with 90% of hashing / card issues.

If you don't have a fan pointed at your cards, they will overheat and shut off.  Turn the rigs on their left hand side (so the SD card is facing down) and aim a good sized fan towards it.

I have 3 120 mm fans pointed right at the cards. I did power everything down and let it sit for half an hour, but that still did not fix my issue. It seems like the cards are not seating correctly in the M-board and therefore not hashing. I have communications with Megabigpower and will probably have to RMA the M-board. It is just weird it all of sudden happened after almost a month of working flawlessly.

That would be me then Smiley

M-boards will be in around Feb 21st due to the delays around Chinese New Year.   I do get to work with some of the returns, and yes this sadly does happen.  If there's a dead slot or two, i just shuffle cards around until they find a good place.

Then you probably saw my emails from last night and responded rather quickly.

I spent about 4 hours doing that last night. The problem is that it appears that I have more bad slots than I do cards. Right now 5 cards are hashing in 0, 4, 8, 9, and C. I cannot get the 6th card to hash in any spot. Even when I put a card I know hashes in slot 2 or 3, I still get nothing.

i'm having exactly the same issues.

When some of my cards quit showing up I powered the whole rig down and about 20min later powered it.. all the cards were showing up.
Make sure that none of them vibrate if your fan is blowing on them.
Also try pulling the 1st non working card and move the rest up. I had 1 card go bad like that and it made the rest of them in the chain not show up at all.

I will try leaving it off for 20 min. My issue is that the first slot for each bank works, ie:0, 4, 8, and C. The rest are not working. No clue what happened.

I have a board that has gone from 450 Gh/s to 135.  I have tried everything and can't get more than one card per four slot bay.

So I get home today and only one of my 8 cards is hashing. I have no clue where to start. The outputs are below. The stratum proxy looks good, not sure what happened and why the other 7 boards will not work. I have re-seated all the cards, tried rocking them, and moved them around to different slots. Anyone have anything else I can try?

Edit: Narrowed it down to 2 bad boards. It appears the solder on the pins has worn down and the cards are not getting good contact on the M-board slots. Not sure how to fix that.

Well, I am at a loss of whats going on with my setup.
Got replacement card and the rig been mining about 12 hours.
Now I get notification of hashrate drop. I login to see a few of the cards at Zero.
Reboot Pi and only first 3 cards are hashing.
My room is at a constant 60F with fans blowing over the cards.
Huh

Set all chip speeds to something slow like 50 with autotune off, and restart chainmminer. If the problem persists, reseat the cards.

Just got to work and shut the miner off.
I moved it and realigned the fans etc...to be sure that none of the cards are vibrating.
All the boards started up...
Guess I'll have to keep a close eye on them and have my laser digital thermometer at the ready.

Now praying for this 1 day 14 hours block to be finally solved. lol

You'll need to aim a fan at the rig.  Chips run hot and need blown air.

Thanks for your answer!

As I didn't have any spare fan left, I used the one of my BE Blades to create an air tunnel. Air blows to BF first, then the Blades ;-)

It's happily hashing now. I guess there's no thermal probe onboard as I don't see any temp reading in the web interface, right? So I guess I should just do as for the BE Blades, stick an external probe on one of the boards

Hey guys,

I'm sorry if this has been asked a thousand times already, but I have RTFM and OP, and I see nothing about cooling.

My H-cards came with heatsinks. I don't want to OC the chips at this stage, and my ambient temp is around 20°C.

Can I start hashing without active cooling (i.e. fans), just with the heatsinks? The photo in OP doesn't even have heatsinks.
Or is it so obvious that you shouldn't run these without fans, that it's not written anywhere? Wink

Thanks guys! I sold off my CEX.io GHS to buy these, it's just cheaper for more hashrate. Yay!
